Kenneth H. Bell
Grove City man was SRU retiree, avid sportsman

Kenneth H. Bell, 1322 W. Main St., Apartment 42, Grove City, died at 10:36 a.m. Sunday (9-17-00) in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. He was 71.

Mr. Bell was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Branchton, Pa., to James Milo and Edith Margaret Hogg Bell Sr.

He retired from Slippery Rock University, where he was employed in environmental services.

Mr. Bell was a Methodist.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving are: three sisters, Norma Grossman, Harrisville; Shirley Bell, Sharon; and Mrs. Thomas (Barbara J.) Darlington, Grove City.

Two sisters, Alda Mae Bell and Orrie Elizabeth Bennington; and a brother, James M. Jr., preceded him in death.

Elizabeth "Betty" Margaret Butia, 233 Francis St., New Wilmington, died Sunday evening (9-17-00) in Jameson Memorial Hospital, New Castle. She was 80.

Infant Alyssa Dawn Eperthener

Alyssa Dawn Eperthener, infant daughter of David James and Linda Dawn Henricks Eperthener, 321 Ridge Ave., Lot 48, Strattanville, Pa., was stillborn Thursday (9-14-00) in Brookville (Pa.) Hospital, Jefferson County.

Alyssa’s parents are members of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.

Surviving besides her parents are: a sister, Maegan Christey Eperthener, at home; her grandparents, Paul and Eleanor Eperthener and James and Mona Greenway Henricks, all Grove City; and her great-grandmother, Lois Greenway, Butler.

Elwood Lee ‘Woody’ Hurley

Worked in stock, delivery for Castle Chemical Co.

NEW CASTLE -- Elwood Lee "Woody" Hurley, Pennsylvania Avenue, was found dead Saturday morning (9-16-00) in his home. He was 42.

Mr. Hurley was born Nov. 11, 1957, in New Castle to Elwood Eugene and Shirley Loreen McFerren.

The alumnus of Olympic College in Washington, D.C., was a U.S. Navy veteran with nine years of active duty. He also was on active duty in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He was a member of New Castle Moose Lodge 51 and North American Hunters Association.

He worked in stock and delivery with Castle Chemical Co., New Castle.

Surviving are: his mother, Waynesboro, Pa.; his father, New Wilmington; a son, Elwood Lee Jr., New Castle; two sisters, Diana K. Eggleston, Youngstown; and Penny S. Mills, Greencastle, Pa.; three brothers, Donald, New Castle; and David Marshall and Michael George, both New Wilmington.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for their discretion.

John ‘Jack’ G. Ivan

John (Jack) G. Ivan, 3376 Lamor Road, Hermitage, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday (9-17-00) in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was 20. The cause of death is under investigation.

Mr. Ivan was born Aug. 21, 1980, to John and Brenda Ivan, Hermitage.

Jacob Adam Rigby, 301 Malleable St., Sharon, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday in Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of injuries he suffered in a car crash on Saturday. He was 21 months old.

He was born Dec. 8, 1998, to Amy Rigby of Sharon.
