BRANCH Julia Matilda ‘Tillie’ Brysh Wisconsin resident’s husband formerly lived in Farrell MADISON, Wis. -- Julia Matilda "Tillie" Brysh, Madison, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday (11-7-00) in Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis., after a brief illness. She was 81. Mrs. Brysh was born March 1, 1919, in Cove, Ark., to John and Bessy Scott Trammell. She left Arkansas for Washington, D.C., during World War II, where she met her husband. They married in Miami and subsequently lived in Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio before moving last October to Madison. Surviving are: her husband, Bernard L. Brysh, formerly of Farrell, whom she married June 7, 1947; two sons, Mark Bernard, Denver; and Dr. L. Stanley, Middleton, Wis.; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings. BRYSH Harold W. Caldwell LTV Steel retiree, born in Sharon, lived in Indiana MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- Harold W. Caldwell, Merrillville, died at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday (11-7-00) in Methodist Hospital, South Lake Campus, Merrillville. He was 63. Mr. Caldwell was born March 7, 1937, in Sharon to Harold Titus and Ruth Black Caldwell. He retired after 41 years of service from LTV Steel in Indiana as an area supervisor in the Hot Strip Mill. Surviving are: his wife, the former Helen Cefrick; a son, David, Caldwell, Idaho; a brother, Gerald, New Castle; two sisters, Mrs. Roy (Viola) Heinlen, Texas; and the wife of the Rev. Donald (Ruth) Ramsey, Springfield, Ohio; and two granddaughters
CALDWELL William G. Callahan Retired insurance agent was active in church, Masons William G. Callahan, 501 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (11-8-00) at home following an extended illness. He was 85. Mr. Callahan was born July 12, 1915, in Farrell to Philo E. and Olive M. Weeter Callahan. A 1933 alumnus of Sharon High School, he graduated from Shenango Valley Commercial Institute, Sharon; and retired in 1976 after 36 years as an insurance salesman for Prudential Insurance Co., serving the Shenango Valley. Mr. Callahan served in the Navy during World War II. He belonged to Free and Accepted Masons Shenango Lodge 668, Sharon; and was a 32nd degree member of Scottish Rite’s New Castle Consistory, where he sang in the Consistory Choir. As a member for more than 60 years of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, Mr. Callahan served as a deacon, elder and Chancel Choir member. He was also a founding member of the church Couplers Sunday school class and belonged to Chapter 3616, Hermitage, of AARP, the retired persons organization. A lover of music, Mr. Callahan played the violin for many years. He also enjoyed gardening. Surviving are: his wife, the former Madeline M. DiNardo, whom he married Aug. 28, 1940; a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Patricia Callahan) Misko, Hermitage; a son, William Donald, Xalapa, Mexico; a brother, Frederick "Ted" K., Leavittsburg, Ohio; and three grandchildren. DANNER Alice Eugenia Swift Davis Ex-North Carolinian retired as nurse at Sharon hospital BEAVER -- Alice Eugenia Swift Davis, Center Township, Beaver County, formerly of Whispering Pines, N.C., and Beaver, died Tuesday afternoon (11-7-00) in The Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 86. Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 18, 1914, in Pittsburgh to William and Amelia Knight Swift. She retired as a registered nurse from what is now Sharon Regional Health System. Mrs. Davis was a member of Brownsen Memorial Presbyterian Church, Whispering Pines; and previously belonged to Four Mile Presbyterian Church, Ohioville, Pa. She lived in Center Township for the last four years. Her husband of 60 years, Thomas G. Davis, died Nov. 15, 1998. Surviving are: three sons, Thomas S., Basking Ridge, N.J.; William G., Centreville, Va.; and Charles M., with whom she lived, Center Township; a sister, Mary Polonus, Hermitage; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. DAVIS Thelma R. Durschlag Former homemaker was Harrisville church member CLARION COUNTY -- Thelma R. Durschlag, Clarion County, formerly of Harrisville, died at 10 a.m. Wednesday (11-8-00) in Clairview Nursing Home. She was 84. Mrs. Durschlag was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Butler County to James A. and Ruth A. Sloan Thompson. A 1934 alumna of the former Harrisville High School, she previously worked with her father in the floral business in Harrisville. The homemaker was a charter member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Harrisville, for which she was church organist and pianist for many years. Mrs. Durschlag previously belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Post 852, Harrisville; and the Junior Women’s Club of Harrisville. Her husband, William C. Durschlag, whom she married April 5, 1945, died Feb. 23, 1983. Surviving are: a son, William A., Templeton, Pa.; two sisters, Dorothy A. Spence, Harrisville; and Mrs. James G. (Marlene) Davis, Hotsprings Village, Ark.; and two brothers, Frederick E. Thompson, Erie; and Glenn W. Thompson, Meadville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 106 N. DURSCHLAG William Earl Greene Sr. Sharon Steel retiree belonged to Farrell church, Elks lodge Funeral will be Friday for William Earl Greene Sr., West Middlesex RD 1. He died at 3:20 p.m. Monday (11-6-00) in Boardman (Ohio) Community Care following a lengthy illness. He was 95. Mr. Greene was born May 13, 1905, in Bennettsville, S.C., to Alfred V. and Arcie Ola Breula Greene. He retired from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant and was a member of Second Baptist Church and Twin City Elks Lodge 187, both Farrell. Mr. Greene was a member of Veteran Boxers Association of Mercer County Ring 5 and its Hall of Fame. His wife, the former Beatrice Perry, died Feb. 24, 1980. Surviving are: three daughters, Wilma, Youngstown; Audrey Couch, Hanover Park, Ill.; and Alona Jamison, Virginia Beach, Va.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Campbell, Chicago; and Loretta Reeves, Youngs-town; two sons, Aubrey, West Middlesex; and William Earl Jr., Sharon; two stepsons, Donald Campbell, Sharon; and Lawrence Campbell, Rochester, N.Y.; 41 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bridgette; three stepsons, Frank, Edward and Raymond Campbell; a brother, Legrande; and five sisters, Ida McKay, Inez Hueston and Minnie, Odessa and Pearl.

HALL Robert J. Heazlett ‘73 Mercer High graduate was county caseworker Funeral will be Saturday for Robert J. Heazlett, 2803 Winner Road, Clark. He died at 2:02 p.m. Tuesday (11-7-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 45. Mr. Heazlett was born July 11, 1955, in Sharon to Robert H. and Marilyn J. Auld Heazlett. A 1973 alumnus of Mercer High School, he earned a degree in psychology from Tarkio (Mo.) College and was a caseworker for Mercer County Board of Assistance, Hermitage. Mr. Heazlett was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Mercer; and previously belonged to Pennsylvania National Guard. He enjoyed farming and fishing and was an avid reader. Surviving are: his wife, the former Karen A. Ivers, whom he married Aug. 12, 1978; and a daughter, Mary Jessica, both at home; his stepfather, Paul McCann, West Middlesex; a sister, Mrs. David (Cindy) Wardale, Greenville; and two brothers, Jay E. and James R., both Nikiski, Alaska. HEAZLETT Thelma S. Smith Hoovler Retired Mercer teacher was Big Bend church member MEADVILLE -- Thelma S. Smith Hoovler, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, formerly of 225 W. North St., Mercer, died at 12:05 p.m. Wednesday (11-8-00) in Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community following a brief illness. She was 85. Mrs. Hoovler was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Jefferson Township to Russell A. and Cora Davis Smith. An alumna of Mercer High School and Grove City College, she retired after 44 years from Mercer Area School District, where she taught business courses. She previously worked for Shenango School District, Lawrence County. Mrs. Hoovler was a member of Big Bend United Methodist Church, Jefferson Township; Pennsylvania and Mercer County associations of School Retirees; and Pennsylvania State Education Association, Retired. She also belonged to Mercer Business and Professional Women; Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 180, Mercer, for which she was a worthy matron in 1963; and Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem Shrine 53, Grove City. Mrs. Hoovler was a past member of Jefferson Grange. Her husband, Carl H. Hoovler, whom she married July 30, 1941, died Oct. 7, 1976. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Cheri) McFate, Conneaut Lake; and a brother, Gordon Smith, West Middlesex.
HOOVLER Rosemarie ‘Cookie’ Sakony Jimison Hermitage woman worked for Hubbard can company Rosemarie "Cookie" Sakony Jimison, 390 Rexford Drive, Hermitage, formerly of Hubbard, died Tuesday morning (11-7-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System of cancer. She was 54. Mrs. Jimison was born April 5, 1946, in Sharon to Louis and Rose Dora Sakony. A lifelong area resident and 1964 alumna of Sharon High School, she worked for 27 years at U.S. Can Co., Hubbard. Mrs. Jimison belonged to Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage; and previously was a member and Eucharistic minister at St. Patrick’s Church, Hubbard. Surviving are: a son, Scott J., Bethel Park, Pa.; a brother, Louis Sakony; and a sister, Margaret Tennant, both Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents.
JIMISON William L. Montgomery Self-employed oil distributor owned, trained race horses William L. Montgomery, 6593 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield, died unexpectedly at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday (11-7-00) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 76. Mr. Montgomery was born Dec. 31, 1923, in Brookfield to Lewis H. and Nelle B. Lotich Montgomery. An alumnus of Brookfield High School, he was a self-employed Standard Oil Co. distributor. Mr. Montgomery owned and trained standard-bred race horses for more than 40 years and belonged to United States Trotting Association; Ohio Harness Horseman Association; and Canfield (Ohio) Harness Horseman Association. He was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening. His wife, the former Thelma P. McLane, whom he married Oct. 21, 1943, died April 17, 1995. Surviving are: a son, Robert, Brookfield; four daughters, Sandra Marcella, Masury; Barbara Huston, Canonsburg, Pa.; Linda Nehlen, Brookfield; and Mary Jane Cybak, Austintown, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.

She died at 3:26 a.m. Wednesday (11-8-00) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, following an extended illness. She was 79. Mrs. Reed was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Kittanning, Pa., to Fredrick G. and Myrtle Wiley Hawk. A 1939 alumna of Kittanning High School, she graduated from beauty school and was a self-employed hairdresser for 42 years. Mrs. Reed was a member of First Baptist Church, Kittanning. In her earlier years, she was active with the Young Democrats, serving as a past president and councilwoman. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Ladies auxiliaries to Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 327, Sharon; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell. Her husband, Ronald C. Reed, whom she married in August of 1940, died Aug. 21, 1985. Surviving are: a companion, George Parkany, Hermitage; a son, Ronald F., Farrell; a granddaughter, Cassandra M., Hermitage, whom she helped rear; and a great-grandchild. STRONG Andy Susko Army vet of Masury retired as self-employed bricklayer Funeral will be Saturday for Andy Susko, 551 Syme St., Masury. He died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday (11-7-00) in Clepper Manor, Sharon, following an extended illness. He was 86. Mr. Susko was born April 21, 1914, in Kempton, Md., to Michael and Mary Magera Susko. He retired in 1986 after 32 years as a self-employed bricklayer. An Army veteran, Mr. Susko served during World War II and was a member of Disabled American Veterans; and American Legion , both Warren, Ohio. His first wife, the former Genevieve Landa, whom he married Oct. 26, 1940, died May 3, 1984. Surviving are: his second wife, the former Rose Buchholzer-Shay, whom he married March 13, 1988, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Barbara) Stowers, Masury; four brothers, Charles, Cleveland; Daniel, Masury; John, Sharon; and Pete, West Middlesex; two sisters, Olga Pritchard, Parma, Ohio; and Eileen Vasko, Northfield, Ohio; and a grandson. A member of Temple Beth Israel, Sharon, she belonged to its Hadassah and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Will Nathan Chapter of B’nai B’rith. Her husband, Morris Weiss, is deceased.
