Myrtle M. Bartholomew, St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, formerly of Speir's Shadeland Estates, Pymatuning Township, died Friday evening (11-10-00) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after a period of failing health. She was 78.

Arretta Blackburn

Homemaker was formerly of W.Middlesex, Sharpsville

Funeral will be Monday for Arretta Blackburn, Hermitage, formerly of West Middlesex and Sharpsville. She died at 11:03 p.m. Thursday (11-9-00) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. She was 83.

Mrs. Blackburn was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Braceville, Ohio, to Lynn and Martha A. Woods Pearson.

She attended West Middlesex area schools.

A homemaker, Mrs. Blackburn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharpsville.

She enjoyed crafts and crocheting. was an avid reader and was a member of Degree of Honor Insurance Company.

Her husband, Talmadge Ross Blackburn, whom she married Dec. 28, 1935, died March 28, 1990.

Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Bonita) Cousins, Sharpsville; Mrs. Rodney (Beverly) Heeter, Sligo; and Arda Morton, West Middlesex; four sons, Talmadge C., Melbro, Va.; Eldred L., Lisbon, Ohio; Ronald P., West Middlesex; and Lynn R., Boardman, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. William (Arda) White, Covina, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Ruby; a son, Arley; and two brothers, Ray L. and C. Dane Pearson.

Carl Martin Clausen Jr.

World War II veteran retired from Uniroyal

Carl Martin Clausen Jr., 4003 William Flynn Highway, Mercer Township, Butler County, formerly of Dwight, Ill. died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (11-9-00) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a short illness. He was 77.

Mr. Clausen was born April 26, 1923, in Dwight to Carl Martin and Laura Marie Knudsen Clausen Sr.

He was a graduate of Dwight Township High School.

Mr. Clausen was a World War II Marine veteran.

A retired contractor supervisor, he was employed at Uniroyal, Joliet, Ill.

Mr. Clausen was a member of the Congregational Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2608, both Dwight.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Betty Lutie Barker, whom he married June 8, 1946; a daughter, Mrs. Lutie Marie Clausen (Weidenhof), Slippery Rock; two sons, Carl M. "Corky" Clausen, Palm Bay, Fla.; and James Arthur Clausen, Shorewood, Ill.; three sisters, Lil Lulay, Chicago; Vera Barnes, Barberton, Ohio; Ruth Donahue, Joliet; a brother, John Clausen, Dwight; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

George Edward Danner

Published metallurgist was active at First Presbyterian

Funeral will be Monday for George Edward Danner, 1214 Highland Road, Sharon, who died at 7 a.m. Thursday (11-9-00) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

Mr. Danner was born in Cincinnati to John W. and Maggie Stamper Danner.

A graduate of Portsmouth (Ohio) High School, he attended Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., and Union College, Schenectady, N.Y.

A metallurgist at American Locomotive Co., Schenectady, Mr. Danner retired as a vice president of sales at Rhode Island Forging Steel.

Mr. Danner was formerly employed by Erie Forge and Steel, as director of metallurgy and research, and as product manager of forging metals at Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon, where he was a past president of the trustees, an ordained deacon and was the chairman of the property committee.

His professional affiliations included: American Society for Metals, American Society for Mechanical Engineers, American Welding Society, American Society for Testing Metals and American Iron and Steel Institute and its research committee.

Mr. Danner was known for establishing the first commercial sales of bottom pouring ingot technology in the United States.

He spoke at metal societies and wrote papers on forging, casting, testing, vacuum degassing and bottom pouring steel.

Mr. Danner co-wrote manuals on industry standards for Open Die Forging Institute.

A member of Free and Accepted Masons Perry-Keystone Lodge 392, Erie, he was also a member of Scottish Rite's Erie Consistory.

Surviving are: his wife, Marian Shy Danner; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn E. Graham, wife of Dr. Clark Graham, Charlottesville, Va.; a son, Dr. James E. Danner, Pittsburgh; a sister, Mabel D. Pfeif, Fresno, Calif.; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Contributions may be made to the memorial fund of First Presbyterian Church, 600 E. State St., or the F.H. Buhl Trust, 720 Forker Blvd., both Sharon 16146.

Jeannette P. Lengauer

Retired teacher was member of Stoneboro Methodist

Funeral will be Monday for Jeannette P. Lengauer, 12 Linden St., Stoneboro, who died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday (11-9-00), in Crestmont North Nursing Home, Lakewood, Ohio, after a short illness. She was 93.

Mrs. Lengauer was born Nov. 21, 1906, in Stoneboro to John W. and Lydia A. Broadbent Parker.

A 1925 alumna of the former Stoneboro High School, she graduated from what is now Slippery Rock University in 1927.

Mrs. Lengauer retired in 1968, after 33 years as a second-grade teacher at the former Stoneboro Grade School.

A member of Stoneboro United Methodist Church, she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the RTS class and church pianist for several years.

Mrs. Lengauer loved music and for many years was active in the Monday Music Club of Stoneboro.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 110, Stoneboro.

Her husband, John Matthew Lengauer, whom she married June 23, 1943, died Dec. 22, 1985.

Surviving are: a son, John M. "Jack" Lengauer Jr., Westlake, Ohio; a brother, Henry F. Parker, in Colorado; and three grandsons.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by twin sons and a brother, Harold Parker.

Daniel Curtis Mausser

'58 Sharon High grad was aerospace engineer in Calif.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Daniel Curtis Mausser, 38-year resident of Hermosa Beach, Calif., formerly of Sharon, died at 1:37 a.m. Sept. 7, 2000, at home after a brief illness. He was 60.

Mr. Mausser was born July 14, 1940, in Sharon to Frank and Anna Bott Mausser.

A 1958 alumnus of Sharon High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in science from Pennsylvania State University, State College, and master's degrees in engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

For 38 years, he was an aerospace engineer, working 18 years at McDonnell Douglas and 20 years at The Aerospace Corp., both Los Angeles County.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Judith Shaffer, whom he married Aug. 25, 1961; two daughters, Mrs. Sam (Dana) Triantis, Carlsbad, Calif.; and Mrs. Tom (Diana) Watson, Hermosa Beach; a son, Daniel Jason, Hermosa Beach; two sisters, Margie Phillips, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Dorothy Schneider, Sharpsville; a granddaughter; and a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Stewart; and a brother, Frank Jr.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Sept. 18, 2000, in New Life Presbyterian Church, Manhattan Beach, Calif., with the Rev. Michael Stingley, former pastor, and the Rev. Gerald Heard, church pastor, officiating.


Norma J. Moore
Sharon woman belonged to American Legion auxiliary

Norma J. Moore, 434 Curtis St., Sharon, died at 6 p.m. Thursday (11-9-00) in an auto accident in Hermitage. She was 63.

Mrs. Moore was born Oct. 25, 1937, in Mercer County to Howard and Ann Grimosky Dawes.

She was a Methodist.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the auxiliary to American Legion Post 299, Sharon.

Surviving are: her husband, Richard Moore; a daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Toni) Johnson, Hermitage; three sisters, Dorothy Robb, Sharpsville; Geri Danilov, Hermitage; and Maryanne Zeka, Sharon; two brothers, Joseph Dawes, Transfer and Ronald Dawes, Medix Run, Pa.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Dawes.

Joseph L. Sabella

Sharpsville native retired from Canton Tool

EAST CANTON, Ohio -- Joseph L. Sabella, formerly of Sharpsville, died Thursday afternoon (11-9-00) in his East Canton home. He was 80.

Mr. Sabella was born in Sharpsville.

He retired after 25 years from Canton Tool and Manufacturing, East Canton.

Mr. Sabella was a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church and AARP, the retired persons organization.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Victoria Calabretta; two sons, Tim Sabella, Cartwright, Tenn.; and Gary Sabella, Minerva, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Sebastian (Josephine) Conti and Philamena Novicky, both Sharpsville; a brother, Anthony Sabella, Sharpsville; and six grandchildren.

An avid Bible reader, he was always helping others.

Mr. Sabella loved playing golf in his retirement.
