Today's obituaries Emma Irene Hedglin Keck Springfield Twp. homemaker belonged to Volant church Emma Irene Hedglin Keck, 811 Old Ash Road, Springfield Township, died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday (4-1-01) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a brief illness. She was 72. Mrs. Keck was born May 29, 1928, in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, to Herman Eugene and Ruby Arneatha Hedglin Hedglin. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Volant. A homemaker, she married Edward L. Keck June 28, 1952. Surviving besides her husband are: four daughters, Janett L. Bobbert and her husband, William; Pauline Grace Poole and her husband, James; and Emma Irene Keck, all of Grove City; and Kathy L. Oravetz and her husband, Paul, New Castle; a sister, Sandra Hockenberry and her husband, John, and a brother, Warren Hedglin and his wife, Pauline, all of Grove City; and seven grandchildren, William L. Bobbert, Michelle L. Shipton, Melissa and Shannon Poole, Brandy I. Evans and Deanna and Amanda L. Oravetz; and two great-grandchildren, Perrie Jones and Mackenzie E. Evans. Mrs. Keck was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Harriet Bungar and Katherine Flynn; and a brother, Wilk Hedglin.
KECK Willie H. Gavin Jr. Willie H. Gavin Jr., 672 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, died at 4:10 a.m. today (4-2-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 69. Obituary information was incomplete.
GAVIN Robert 'Yankee' Beyer Sharon native was lead truck driver for Texas-based firm WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Robert "Yankee" Beyer, Joplin, Texas, died of cancer Friday (3-30-01) in a Wichita Falls hospital. He was 51. Mr. Beyer was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Sharon to Mr. and Mrs. F.F. Beyer. He was a lead truck driver for Lattimore Materials in Bridgeport, Texas. Mr. Beyer was a member of the Catholic church. He moved in 1999 to Joplin from Megargel, Texas. Surviving are: his wife, the former Lisa Lewis, whom he married Dec. 23, 2000, in Megargel, Texas; five sons, Robert Beyer Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii; Steven Beyer of Warren, Ohio; Joshua McDonald of Wichita Falls; Judson McDonald of Tulia, Texas; and Jon McDonald of Vernon, Texas; two daughters, Kimberly Brant of Mansfield, Ohio; and Tyla Tocquigny of Savoy, Texas; his parents of Hudson, Fla.; one brother, Ron Beyer of Archer City, Texas; one sister, Connie Ramp of Florida; and three grandchildren, Michael Tocquigny of Albany, Texas; Cooper Tocquigny of Savoy; and Jacy McDonald of Fort Worth, Texas. ALFREDO Kathryn Adams Brennan Area native was nursing grad, lived in Pittsburgh ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. -- Kathryn Adams Brennan, Pittsburgh, formerly of Mercer County, died at 6:37 a.m. Sunday (4-1-01) in Jefferson (Borough) Health Center. She was 84. Mrs. Brennan was born March 30, 1917, in Mercer County to Harry and Frances Randall Adams. She was an alumna of St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Mrs. Brennan was a long-term member of the Women's Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1; and belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Finleyville, Pa. Her husband, Luke J. Brennan, died on Dec. 28, 1996. She was the beloved mother of five daughters, Patricia Higgins, wife of the late Gerard, of Naperville, Ill.; Mrs. Fred (Mary) Ferris of Bradenton, Fla.; Mrs. Dale (Margaret) Rettinger of Bridgeport, W.Va.; Mrs. Greg (Carol) Parris of South Park, Pa.; and Mrs. Steve (Sheila) Baez of Reno, Nevada. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance for Autism Research in care of 804 Oxford Court, Gibsonia, Pa. 15044.
BRENNAN Rose Robinson Former nurse's aide was member of G.C. church BUTLER -- Rose Robinson, two-year resident of Sugar Creek Rest Home, Worthington, formerly of North Liberty Road, Liberty Township, died Saturday (3-31-01) in Butler Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was 65. Miss Robinson was born April 12, 1934, in Butler to Harry Edward and Stella Lorena Kelly Robinson. She had worked for 10 years until the mid-1970s as a nurse's aide in what is now United Community Hospital, Pine Township. Miss Robinson was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Grove City. Surviving are: five brothers, Melvin G. Robinson of Springfield Township; Laurie H. Robinson of Hartsville, S.C.; and Richard W., Gary E. and Randy L. Robinson, all of Grove City. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Janet Selbaugh.
ROBINSON Richard E. Gallagher Decorated Navy veteran worked at Westinghouse Richard E. Gallagher, 145 Mercer Ave., Wheatland, died at 11:45 p.m. Sunday (4-1-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 74. Mr. Gallagher was born Oct. 28, 1926, in West Monterey, Pa., to Edward F. and Leurie McCall Gallagher. He moved to Sharon in 1948. A 1944 alumnus of Parker High School, Mr. Gallagher retired in 1985 after 38 years from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., for which he was a store room clerk. The Navy veteran served during World War II, earning a Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and a Victory Medal. Mr. Gallagher was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7073 in Parker. Surviving are: his wife, the former Sara J. Witherup, whom he married on April 28, 1952, at home; a son, Dennis J. Gallagher and his wife Denise of Niles; and a brother, James T. Gallagher, of Grove City. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald C. Gallagher. GALLAGHER Wallace R. McDougall Avid outdoorsman worked at Sharon Steel COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Wallace R. McDougall, 135 Parkwood Drive, Shelby, Ohio, formerly of Sharon, died Sunday morning (4-1-01) in Ohio State University Medical Center following a three-month battle with cancer. He was 60. Mr. McDougall was born Dec. 26, 1940, in Pittsburgh to Wallace R. and Garnet Riddle McDougall. He had been a resident of Sharon, moving to Shelby in 1971. A 1958 alumnus of Franklin High School, Mr. McDougall graduated from Grove City College and earned a master's degree in business administration from Ashland (Ohio) University. He was employed with the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant and recently retired from Copperweld Ohio Steel Tube in Shelby after 30 years of service. Mr. McDougall was a member of American Society for Metals; American Institute for Metallurgical Engineers; the Steel Tube Institute; and the Shelby Athletic Club. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating and belonged to Richland County (Ohio) Fish and Game Club. Surviving are: his wife, the former Alice Curtis, whom he wed on June 26, 1971, at home; two daughters and one son-in-law; Dr. Kristin McDougall, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Erin and Scott Hadley, of Mansfield, Ohio; one son, Mark McDougall, of Chicago; one grandson, Grant Hadley of Mansfield; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
