Irene S. Davis, 1 Stone Ridge Blvd., Hermitage, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday (5-19-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 72.

Elsie M. Godina

Sharon woman belonged to St. John's Episcopal Church

Elsie M. Godina, Shenango Inn Personal Care Residence, Sharon, formerly of Pearrell Dr., Sharon, died at 6:30 p.m. Friday (5-18-01). She was 93.

She was born March 14, 1908 in Urbana, Ill. to Marion Detamore and Elvira Calloway Detamore.

Prior to moving to Sharon in 1969, Mrs. Godina was a nurses aide in Florida.

Mrs. Godina was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon.

Her husband, Louis Godina, whom she married Jan. 1969, died in 1987.

Surviving family members include: Jean Hetrick; Stanley Hetrick, Jr.; David and Micky Hetrick; Burdell "Butch" Hetrick, Michael and Bernadette Chaya; all of Hermitage; Eric and Mary Gonano, Transfer; Larry and Terri Jones, Masury, Ohio; Larry Jones, Jr.; Courtney Jones; Erica Gonano; Shawn Hetrick; Alyssa Heffern; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her second husband, she was preceded in death in October 1959 by her first husband Virgil Wayland, whom she married October. 1934. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, four brothers, two stepsons, Stanley and Burdell Hetrick.

Anna E. Hedegore

Magnolia woman survived by family in Grove City

MAGNOLIA, Ohio -- Anna E. Hedegore passed away Friday evening (5-18-01) in Hennis Care Center in Dover. She was 103.

She was born in Bessemer, Pa., to the late Lars and Nellie Johnson, and had been a resident of the Magnolia area since 1961.

Mrs. Hedegore was a Presbyterian.

Surviving are: a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Betty Lou Hedegore, Grove City; two grandsons, Jeffrey Hedegore and his wife Barbara, Grove City; and Gregory Hedegore and his wife Robin, Berea, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark R. Hedegore, who died on May 22, 1981, and her daughter, Betty J. Hoagland, who died on May 19, 2000.

Woodrow "Woody" P. McCandless
Butler County man was foreman at Pullman plant

Woodrow "Woody" P. McCandless, William Flynn Highway, Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, died at 4:10 a.m., Saturday (5-19-01) in his residence following an extended illness. He was 82.

He was born in Slippery Rock Township on June 20, 1918 to Thomas G. and Clara M. Hockenberry McCandless.

Before retiring, Mr. McCandless was employed as a foreman for Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing in Butler. Prior to that, during World War II, he worked at the former Cooper Bessemer, Grove City.

He attended the First Church of God, Grove City.

Mr. McCandless was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, Grove City and a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Grove City.

Surviving are: his wife, Miona Bachman McCandless, whom he married Oct. 17, 1947, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Dianna) Kelly, Grove City; four sisters, Mrs. Clyde (June) Coulter, Grove City; Mrs. Donald (Esther) Eller, Erie; Mrs. Howard (Kathryn) Hockenberry, Clintonville; and Mrs. Chester (Clara) Coulter, Grove City; two brothers, Cecil McCandless, Slippery Rock; Kenneth McCandless, Grove City; and one grandson, Daniel Pack, Grove City.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; James, George and Howard McCandless; and one sister, Ruth Patterson.
