Today's obituaries Lois Perry Frantz Homemaker taught Sunday school at 1st Baptist Church Funeral service will be held Monday (6-11-01) for Lois Perry Frantz, 9930 Coral Drive, Warren, Ohio, formerly of Hazelton Street, Masury. She passed away at 6:20 a.m. Friday (6-8-01) at home after an extended illness. She was 78. Mrs. Frantz was born May 20, 1923, in Sharpsville to Alvin R. and Fern Gribble Tonks. Mrs. Frantz was a homemaker and formerly attended First Baptist Church in Sharon, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Her first husband, John L. Perry, whom she married Oct. 12, 1944, died on Aug. 14, 1973. Her second husband, Prescott E. Frantz, whom she married in 1975, died in 1982. Surviving are: her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thomas Logan, with whom she lived. Other survivors include three brothers, A. Richard Tonks, Sharpsville; Harold Tonks, West Middlesex; and Terry Flaugher, Sharon; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas W. Perry, who died Feb. 9, 1986. FRANTZ Twila A. Yarian Charleston church member retired from The Herald Funeral is Tuesday for Twila A. Yarian of 7169 E. State St., Jefferson Township. She died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday (6-7-01) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 90. Mrs. Yarian was born Aug. 26, 1910, in Polk to Fred and Jennie Reichard Greenlee. She was a bookbinder for The Herald for several years, retiring in 1972. She previously worked at the Allied Newspaper in Mercer and Sharon Commercial Printing. Mrs. Yarian was a member of Charleston United Methodist Church, Jefferson Township, for more than 60 years and its United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Charleston Homemakers and the Charleston Yesteryears Group. She enjoyed crafts, camping, cooking and gardening, and was a wonderful mother and a friend to many. Her husband, Clyde H. Yarian, whom she married July 22, 1932, died July 21, 1991. Surviving are: two daughters, Betty L. Davis, Mesa, Ariz.; and Mrs. W. Russell (Rosemarie) Michal, Mercer; a brother, Russell Greenlee, Sheakleyville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, a great-grandchild, a great-grandson-in-law and a great-great-grandchild. YARIAN Marcella Barnes Legion auxiliary member attended Stoneboro church Marcella Barnes, 25 Lake St., Stoneboro, died Friday morning (6-08-01) at her residence of cardiac arrest. She was 89. Mrs. Barnes was born Aug. 7, 1911 in Pittsburgh to Isadore and Susan Derick Paternoster. She attended Pittsburgh Catholic School. She married Clinton E. Barnes Dec. 5, 1930. He died Nov. 5, 1987. Mrs. Barnes attended Stoneboro United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Franklin American Legion. Surviving are: a son, Arthur G. Barnes, Sandy Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Mary) Watson, Decator, Ill.; and Freda Hoffman, Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Clinton C. Barnes; a daughter, Helen M. Heffern; six brothers; three sisters; and two grandsons. BARNES Sylvia Marie Jarrett Neshannock church member shook hands with JFK Sylvia Marie Jarrett, 296 S. Neshannock Road, Hermitage, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday (6-08-01) in her residence. She was 101. Mrs. Jarrett was born July 6, 1899, in the village of Bethel in Shenango Township to Albert and Margaret Powell Smith. She married Wayne "Sparky" Jarrett in October 1921; he died in 1943. Mrs. Jarrett was a housekeeper for The Shenango Inn, when it was a hotel in Sharon, and where she shook President John F. Kennedy's hand. She was a member of Neshannock Alliance Church, Shenango Township; a life member of Hermitage Historical Society; a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166 Auxiliary, Hermitage; a member of the New Virginia 70 Club, Hermitage; and a member of the Growing Wiser Homemakers Club. Mrs. Jarrett was an avid bowler and golf fan and attended the first Buhl Day. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Myrtle) Giroski and Mrs. Harold (Margie) Crompton, both Hermitage; two sons, Walter L. Jarrett, Mercer; and Wayne L. Jarrett, Hermitage; two sisters, Elsie Bartholomew, Hermitage; and Olive Anderson, Sharpsville; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and s great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Walter Smith; and four sisters, Bessie Hast, Sara Horsman, Anna Young and Martha Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Neshannock Alliance Church, 3109 S. Keel Ridge Road, West Middlesex 16159. JARRETT Anthony J. Mensurati Anthony J. Mensurati, 1006 Elmo St., Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening (6-8-01) in his home. Obituary information was incomplete. MENSURATI Deborah Lynn Williams '76 Sharpsville High grad lived in Hilton Head, S.C. HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- Deborah Lynn Williams, 20 Sunny Ford Drive, formerly of Sharpsville, died at 8:13 p.m. Wednesday (6-6-01) in the Hilton Head Hospital. She was 42. Ms. Williams was born Jan. 3, 1959 in Sharon to Francis C. "Pete" and Judith C. Brown Hackett. She was a 1976 graduate of Sharpsville High School. A homemaker, Ms. Williams attended United Church in Savannah, Ga. Surviving are: her father of Evans City; her mother, Judith Faller, Brookfield; three daughters, Jessica Leavens, Brooke R. Williams and Shana L. Williams, all of Hilton Head; a brother, Charles F. Hackett, Evans City; two stepsisters, Kim Reuss, Cranberry Township, Butler County; and Ginny Ragan, Girard, Ohio; a grandchild, Destiny Taylor; a nephew, Charles L. Hackett; and a niece, Carlee Anne Hackett. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Deborah L. Williams Family Fund in care of the funeral home.
