The following obituary is being reprinted to include additional information given to The Herald. Sharon Steel retiree was native of South Carolina A funeral service will be held Saturday for Rufus Houston Lyles, 335 Sterling Ave., Apartment 110, Sharon. He died at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday (1-22-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 85. Mr. Lyles was born June 6, 1916, in Carlisle, S.C., to Benjamin Lyles and Carrie Farr Lyles. He retired in 1981 as a keeper from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where he worked for 34 years. Mr. Lyles was a member of Local 1197 of United Steelworkers. He leaves a devoted companion of 52 years, Arrietta M. Nixon, Sharon; a niece, Carrie Lyles, Hyattsville, S.C.; a nephew, James Edwards, Chicago; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends. Also surviving are: six sons, Charles Nixon, Wilbert Nixon and Ronald Nixon, all New York City; Raymond Nixon, Silver Springs, Md.; Robert Nixon, Sharon; and Jerome Nixon, Washington, Pa.; one brother, George Lyles, Union, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Darlene Ousley, Demond Nixon, Ronald Harvey, Warren Nixon, TaMara Nixon, Genevieve Nixon, Karlon Nixon and Yireiza Nixon; and six great-grandchildren, Langston Ousley, Desiree Ousley; LaShay Nixon, LaShaunda Nixon, Warren Nixon Jr. and Jordan Nixon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janice L. Mosley; five sisters; and six brothers.
LYLES Carolyn Margaret Bodien Hermitage homemaker was Titusville High School grad A funeral service will be held Saturday for Carolyn Margaret Bodien of 2189 Homewood Drive in Hermitage. She passed away at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in her residence. She was 72. Mrs. Bodien was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Oil City, a daughter of Joseph William Anderson and Mary Margaret Williams Anderson. She was a 1947 graduate of Titusville High School. Mrs. Bodien was a homemaker. Her husband, George D. Bodien, whom she married Sept. 5, 1947, died Feb. 22, 1999. Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Margaret A.) Tonnessen, Pottstown, Pa.; two sons on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, John T. Bodien, Illinois; and Karl J. Bodien, Georgia; one sister, Lois Masteller, North East; two brothers, Robert E. Anderson, Brunswick, Ga.; and Harold A. Anderson, Fairview; and eight grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Bodien was preceded in death by her father and her mother, Mary Margaret Wagner; two daughters, Paula Parker and Diane Williams; one son, George B. Bodien; and one brother, Joseph Anderson.
BODIEN Helen Castiglione Helen Castiglione, 3276 Morefield Road, Hermitage, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday (1-23-02) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 80. Obituary information was incomplete.
CASTIGLIONE Robert 'Bob' W. Jordan Sharon Steel retiree born in Grove City lived in Farrell A funeral service will be held Tuesday for Robert "Bob" W. Jordan, 27 Cathedral Drive, Farrell. He died at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday (1-22-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 72. Mr. Jordan was born June 1, 1929, in Grove City to Charles E. and Martha Holland Jordan. A graduate of Grove City High School, he retired in 1991 as a ladle liner from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where he worked for 38 years. Mr. Jordan lived in Farrell since 1962. He was an avid hunter and loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are: his wife, the former Barbara A. Hart, whom he married April 9, 1949, Farrell; two daughters, Denise S. Jordan McMillan and her husband Joeron, Lumberton, N.C.; and Valerie V. Jordan, West Middlesex; three sons, Robert W. Jordan Jr. and his wife Gwendolyn, Winter Park, Fla.; James S. Jordan, Memphis; and Clifton Daniel Jordan and his wife Rhoda, Cordova, Tenn.; one brother, Charles E. Jordan, Grove City; two special aunts, Viola Holland, Sharon; and Mary Holland, Jackson Center; six grandchildren, Robert W. III, Loren, Albert, Clifton Daniel II, Tonda and Joeron "Ricco"; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clifford "Kip" Jordan; and one grandson, Daniel.
JORDAN Anne M. Plawky Hermitage homemaker was active in Sacred Heart A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday for Anne M. Plawky of 279 Crawford Drive in Hermitage. She passed away at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 89. Mrs. Plawky was born Sept. 17, 1912, in Monongahela, Pa., a daughter of James and Catherine Sabo Muscik. During World War II, she worked for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. A homemaker, Mrs. Plawky was an active member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon, where she attended on Sundays and also made her weekly Novena every Monday. She also belonged to Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 507 in Sharon. Her husband, Joseph S. Plawky, whom she married Nov. 10, 1947, survives at home. Mrs. Plawky also leaves: one son, Joseph S. Plawky and his wife Kathleen M., Hermitage; one sister, Julia M. Bailey, at home; a brother, Andrew Muscik and his wife Louise, John XXIII Home, Hermitage; one sister-in-law, Tamazon Muscik; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Muscik; and two infant siblings, Frank and Catherine. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Sacred Heart, 40 S. PLAWKY Sister Mary Margaret Raub, OSB Lifelong educator worked in Sharon parochial schools ERIE -- Sister Mary Margaret Raub, OSB, a member of the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 22, 2002, in Hamot Medical Center following an extended illness. A daughter of the late William and Josephine Soliwoda Raub, she entered the Benedictine Sisters of Erie in 1952 and professed her perpetual monastic vows in July 1956. She celebrated her Silver Jubilee in 1978. A lifelong educator, Sister Mary Margaret served as an elementary teacher and librarian for 41 years. She was a teacher and librarian for 23 years at St. Joseph School and for two years at Sacred Heart School, both Sharon. In Oil City, she was a teacher and librarian at St. Joseph School for 13 years. She was a teacher at St. Michael School in Fryburg for three years. Sister Mary Margaret also taught catechism classes in numerous parishes. Returning to Erie, she had worked on the staff of the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Center in the Children and Youth Division since 1997. Sister Mary Margaret received a bachelor's degree in education from Mercyhurst College and a master's degree from Edinboro University. She also received certifications in Early Childhood Head Start from Pennsylvania State University and microcomputer education from Clarion University. She received certification in library science through studies at St. Francis College, Loretto, Pa. She is survived by: a sister, Louise Strub; two nephews, William Strub Jr. and his wife Etta; and Carl Strub and his wife Chris; great-nephews, Jonathan, Alan and Kevin Strub; a great-niece, Stephanie Strub; and the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, her religious community. Memorial contributions in memory of Sister Mary Margaret can be sent to Mount Saint Benedict Monastery, 6101 E. Lake Road, Erie 16511.

Helen Shafer
Helen Shafer, 1137 Wallis Ave., Farrell, died at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 76. Mrs. Shafer was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Slickville, Pa., to Michael and Helen Meca Kucik. She was a graduate of Slickville schools and was employed for 33 years as a clerk for the former G.C. Murphy Co. in Farrell. As a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage, Mrs. Shafer belonged to St. Michael's Ladies Social Club and the Infant Jesus of Prague Guild. Her husband, Robert T. Shafer, died in May 1975. Surviving are: one son, Gary Shafer, Farrell; and his wife Jeanne, Sharon; one sister, Mrs. Steve Yaczola, Phoenix; three brothers, Steve Kucik, Dayton, Ohio; Nick Kucik, Farrell; and Alex Kucik, Griffith, Ind.; four granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and eight great-grandsons. Besides her husband, Mrs. Shafer was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Michael, John, Pete and George Kucik.
