Orneda Elane Tomblin Mick W.Virginia resident had children in West Middlesex BURNSVILLE, Gilmer County, W.Va. -- Orneda Elane Tomblin Mick, RD 1, Sliding Run Community, Burnsville, formerly of West Middlesex, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (1-31-02) in the emergency room of Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, W.Va., following an unexpected illness. She was 74. She was born Aug. 31, 1927, in Tomblin Run, W.Va., to Arthur and Emsy Canfield Tomblin and was educated at Sanfork (W.Va.) High School. The homemaker was a member of Church of Christ, Hermitage; and Locust Knob (W.Va.) Church of Christ. She was a charter member of a homemakers club. Surviving are: her husband, Ellis H. Mick, whom she married May 25, 1946, in Glenville, W.Va., at home; one son, Carl S. Mick and his wife, Alice, West Middlesex; four daughters, Darla J. and Bill Stonebraker, Rozilla E. and Kirk Lizzie, Martha L. and Scott Wingard, all West Middlesex; and Sharon M. Taylor, Tavers, Fla.; four brothers, James Tomblin, Nutter Fort, W.Va.; George Tomblin, Stouts Mills, W.Va.; Monroe Tomblin, Pennsboro, W.Va.; and Joseph Tomblin, Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Wanda Mae Rigney, Parsons, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren, Greg Taylor; Vince Taylor; Bryan Mick; Billie Jo Stonebreaker Rickert; David Stonebreaker; Dorothy Mick; Virginia Stonebreaker; Josh Wingard; Kristine Wingard; Marc Stonebreaker; and Gabriel, Elijah and Sarah Lizzie; and seven great-grandchildren.
MICK LeRoy P. Means Hubbard man was Sawhill retiree, Korean war Army vet Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday (2-4-02) for LeRoy P. Means, 549 Caroline Ave., Hubbard, who passed away Thursday afternoon in his residence. He was 68. He was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Sharon to Hiram and Evelyn Nolan Means, moving to Hubbard in 1966. Mr. Means was a veteran in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was employed by what was Sawhill Tubular, Wheatland, in the shipping department for 29½ years before retiring in 1996. Mr. Means enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Surviving are: his wife at home, Ruth Halicki Means, whom he married Nov. 24, 1956; two sons, Michael Means, Bullhead City, Ariz.; and Marc Means, Hubbard; one daughter, Anita Donahue, Hubbard; two brothers, Charles Means, Sharpsville; and Harry Means, Mercer; five sisters, Delores Rossi, Sharpsville; LaVerne Newton, Mercer; Shirley Holsapfel, Dalzel, S.C.; Beverly Morris, Newman, Ga.; and Carol Haun, Summerville, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Shane and Quintin Hughes and Lily Colucci. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Eugene Means; and a sister, Sandy DeJulia. Memorial contributions may be made to Sharon Regional Hospice Home Care, 490 N. MEANS Olive H. Blough Ex-Sharon woman taught music in school in Brookfield Olive H. Blough of East Lansing, Mich., formerly of 1635 Highland Road, Sharon, died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday (1-30-02) in Burcham Hills Center, East Lansing. She was 87. She was born Nov. 16, 1914, in Royersford, Pa., to Alvin P. and Elizabeth Jones Harley. Olive enjoyed playing high school basketball and field hockey in her earlier years. She was a graduate of Juniata College, Waynesburg, Pa. It was at college that she met her husband, William. Both majored in music. Olive was a former teacher in Brookfield Local School District, where she taught music in the elementary school. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sharon. Surviving are: her husband at home, William M. Blough, Sr., whom she married Sept. 1, 1938; two sons, William M. Blough, Jr., Brea, Calif.; and Donald H. Blough, Diamondale, Mich.; one brother, Dr. Wilbert J. Harley, Ephrata, Pa.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond and James Harley; and one sister, Esther Staufer.
BLOUGH Wilbert Graden Wilbert Graden, 1640 Pine Hollow Blvd., Hermitage, passed away Friday evening at 6:25 p.m. in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 82. Obituary information was incomplete.
GRADEN Esther Elizabeth Lenkner Grace U.M. member worked for Grove City hospitals Esther Elizabeth Lenkner, Trinity Living Center, Grove City, died at 3:05 a.m. Friday (2-1-02) in the nursing home, where she had lived for two years. She was 88. Mrs. Lenkner was born Aug. 17, 1913, in Grove City to Frank "Roy" and Ethel Wise Williams. She worked in the hostess shop and as a nurse's aide in Grove City Hospital. Mrs. Lenkner also worked in the hostess shop at Bashline Hospital of Grove City. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City. Her husband, Henry Lamont "Mont" Lenkner, whom she married Feb. 14, 1945, died in January 1985. Her first husband, Earl Hosack, also preceded her in death. Surviving are: a stepson, Raymond L. Lenkner, Grove City; a daughter-in-law, Coleen Lenkner, Grove City; a niece, Sandra J. Stillwagon, wife of Jay Stillwagon, Harrisville; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert F. Lenkner; a stepdaughter, Christean Jack; and a sister, Ella Mae Magee.
LENKNER Timothy Weldon '75 Hickory High graduate was union brick mason Timothy Weldon, 535 Dutch Lane, Hermitage, passed away Friday (2-01-02) in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. He was 45. He was born Dec. 10, 1956, in Sharon to John H. and Goldie Mikulin Weldon. Mr. Weldon was a 1975 alumnus of Hickory High School, Hermitage. A brick mason, he belonged to Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local Union No. 9. Mr. Weldon was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage; and also belonged to First Slovak Workingman's Educational Club, Farrell. He was a fan of both NASCAR and football, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Surviving are: his mother, Goldie Ritter, Hermitage; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Diane) Conn, Allentown, Pa.; and Mrs. Donald (Cindy A.) Pacifico, Abbottstown, Pa.; one brother, Dennis Weldon and his wife Charlotte, Raleigh, N.C.; three nephews, Timothy J. and Christopher W. Weldon; and Anthony Pacifico. He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Weldon; and his stepfather, Ernest E. Ritter. WELDON Donald L. Ballard Donald L. Ballard, 549 Fairbrook Way, Sharpsville, died at 2:10 p.m. Friday (2-1-02) in his home. He was 67. Obituary information was incomplete.
BALLARD Edith Earcy Ritenour Campbell Harrisville woman was retired GCC housekeeper Edith Earcy Ritenour Campbell, 1101 Eau Claire Road, Harrisville, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday (2-1-02) in Trinity Living Center, Grove City. She was 94. She was born Jan. 27, 1908, in Springfield Township to Daniel W. and Vida Earcy McMurdy Ritenour. Before retiring, Mrs. Campbell was employed by Grove City College as a housekeeper. She was a Protestant. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Mercer. Her husband, Charles Campbell, whom she married Nov. 30, 1927, preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1971. Surviving are: three children, Kathryn Campbell, Grove City; Kenneth Leroy Campbell, Boyers; and Clarence A. Campbell, Sandy Lake; one brother, Kenneth D. Ritenour, Grove City; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Mary Jane and Charles William; three brothers, Morren, Leslie, and Kenneth; and two great-granddaughters, Heather D. Campbell and Darcy E. Englehart.
CAMPBELL Rose DeFalco Rose DeFalco, 441 S. 9th St., Sharpsville, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday (2-1-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 90. Obituary information was incomplete.
DEFALCO John A. Martinko Penney's retiree had worked at GATX, Westinghouse John A. Martinko, 100 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, died at 5:55 p.m. Thursday (1-31-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 86. He was born May 5, 1915 in Smith Dale, Pa. to John and Mary Hovanas Martinko. A 1935 alumna of Farrell High School, he played football, basketball, and baseball and was known as a very good player. He later attended the University of Indiana. Before retiring in 1984, Mr. Martinko was employed by J.C. Penney for 12 years as a salesman in the auto center. Prior to that, he worked for the former Masury plant of General American Transportation Corp.; and the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He attended Central Christian Church, Hermitage. Mr. Martinko was a member and past treasurer of the Slovak Home, Farrell. He was a past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and, most of all, watching his children play softball and baseball. Surviving are: his wife at home, Beatrice Gilson Martinko, whom he married Dec. 31, 1939; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Judith) Thomason, Falls Church, Va.; Mrs. Nicholas (Dianne) Rebick, Greensburg, Pa.; and Mrs. David (Jonell) Maine, Hermitage; and seven grandchildren, Jeffery Thomason, Falls Church, Va.; Scott Thomason and his wife Ewa, Falls Church, Va.; Andrea Hoak and her husband, Richard, Greensburg; Elaine Rebick, Philadelphia; and Joseph, Brooke and Matthew Maine, all Hermitage. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Helen Bator, Agnes Ferguson and Molly Holiday; and two brothers, George and James Martinko.
