Betty Jean Schaffer
Sharon High School graduate lived in Gahanna, Ohio

Betty Jean Schaffer, Gahanna, Ohio, died Thursday (2-21-02) in Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was 77.

She was a graduate of Sharon High School.

Surviving are: her husband, A. Harlan Schaffer, whom she married 55 years ago; two sons, Tom Schaffer and his wife Susan, Gahanna; and Terry Schaffer, in New Jersey; a sister, Anna Mae Laverty and her husband Robert, Ocala, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Jenny and Jeff Schaffer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, OH 43221.

Mrs. A. Harlan (Betty Jean), 77, of Gahanna, Ohio, formerly of Sharon.

Rose M. Squatrito

Our Lady of Fatima member was retired waitress

Rose M. Squatrito, formerly of 99 Todd Ave., Hermitage, and 419 Patton Ave., Farrell, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at 10:45 p.m. Thursday (2-21-02) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 79.

She was born May 13, 1922, in Farrell to Luigi and Armenia Phillips Gervase.

Mrs. Squatrito attended Farrell schools.

She was a waitress for the former Marigold Restaurant for 20 years before retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Squatrito was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

Her husband, Louis E. Squatrito, Sr., whom she married Feb. 16, 1947, died June 22, 1999.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Lois A. Stanton and her husband John J., Hermitage; and Mrs. Carol A. Dunham and her husband Raymond, Sharon; a son, Louis E. Squatrito Jr. and his wife, Stacey, Hermitage; two sisters, Angie Grzejka, Farrell; and Mrs. Teresa Klug and her husband Donald, Hermitage, who was raised by Rose and her husband, Louis; six grandchildren, Bradley and Molly Stanton, Louis Squatrito III and Dawn Squatrito, Christa Raught and Rebecca Sakonyi; and two great-grandchildren, Alicia Squatrito and Skylar Sakonyi.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Santos DeMarco and Samuel Gervase; and a sister, Mary Germano.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon, or American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Blvd., Suite 700, Pittsburgh 15235.
