A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday for Jean Sinkuc of 529 Brookfield Ave. in Masury. She died at 5:13 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after an extended illness. She was 77. Mrs. Sinkuc was born Jan. 19, 1925, in Masury to George and Catherine Snyderwine McCullough. She was a graduate of Brookfield High School class of 1943. A number of years ago, Mrs. Sinkuc worked for Bell Telephone Co. in Sharon; the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.; and John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was a member and Eucharistic minister of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Sharon; and a former member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon. She also belonged to St. Bernard's Church, while living for 10 years in Springfield, Ohio. As a member of the Third Order of the Secular Franciscan and a Benedictine Oblate, Jean was a formation director, teaching the new members and working very closely with the Franciscan Order. Jean enjoyed cooking and traveling. She enjoyed her grandchildren and playing cards with them. Jean and her husband, Walter F. Sinkuc, whom she married May 18, 1946, would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this May. Besides her husband, surviving are: four daughters, Thea and her husband Norman Betts, Fowler, Ohio; Marita Anderson, Camby, Calif.; Mary Anne and her husband Joseph Messina, Springfield; and Katie Laureigh, Waretown, N.J.; three sons, Joseph Sinkuc and his wife Patricia, Sharon; James F. Sinkuc and his wife Myong, Japan; and Wally Sinkuc and his wife Valerie, Farrell; one sister, Mary Lou, wife of Kenneth Hickman, Sharpsville; one brother, John A. McCullough, Hubbard; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 370 Spruce Ave., Sharon 16146.
SINKUC Curtis L. Wilson Sr. Sharon man was Air Force veteran, NRA member A funeral service will be held Saturday for Curtis L. Wilson Sr., 390 North St., Sharon. He died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, in his son's home in Hinesville, Ga., following an extended illness. He was 68. Mr. Wilson was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Garfield, Ohio, to Charles H. and Deborah Wilson. He served in the Air Force as an airman first class during the Korean conflict. Mr. Wilson was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His wife, Eliza Mae Wilson, whom he married March 22, 1963, died on April 26, 1996. Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Cynthia Ann) Messere and Diania Lynn Wilson, both Sharon; and Lori Ann Wilson, Pennsylvania; four sons, Staff Sgt. Curtis L. Wilson Jr. and his wife Teresa, Hinesville; Carl Edward Wilson, Salisbury, Pa.; Billy Allen Wilson, also Hinesville; and Jamie Albert Wilson, Sharon; a sister, Vivian Phyllis, Salem, Ohio; three brothers, Charles Wilson and Lester Wilson, both Salem; and Ernie Wilson, Sebring, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Besides his wife, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dean Wilson; and one grandchild, Christopher Cunningham.
WILSON Matthew 'Matt' Anthony Fister Electrical inspector/business owner was active in clubs Matthew "Matt" Anthony Fister, 3573 Hubbard-West Middlesex Road, Shenango Township, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System of cancer. He was 74. Mr. Fister was born May 8, 1927, in West Middlesex to John and Barbara Fister. He was an alumnus of West Middlesex High School class of 1944 and graduated in 1947 from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. For 58 years, Mr. Fister was a self-employed electrical inspector as owner and operator of Commonwealth Inspection Electric in West Middlesex. He was a member of the Croatian Club, in Bessemer, Pa.; First Slovak Workingman's Educational Club; the Italian Home Club; Croatian Catholic Lodge 29; and the Slovak Home, all Farrell; and Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota Club, Enon Valley, Pa. Mr. Fister also belonged to Local 97 of International Association of Electrical Inspectors; National Fire Protection Association; and St. Anthony's Church in Sharon. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing and was founder of Furfinfeather Sportsmen's Association in Shenango Township. Surviving are: a loyal companion, Julia Paul, at home; a daughter, Debra Bailey, New Wilmington; and two sisters, Barbara Gee, New Castle; and Frances, wife of John Schosser, West Middlesex. Mr. Fister was preceded in death by two brothers, John and George Fister; and four sisters, Rose Opat, Catherine Medved, Ann Fister and Helen Fister. FISTER Rudolph 'Rudy' Wright AURORA, Ohio -- Rudolph "Rudy" Wright, 682 Arbor Way, Aurora, formerly of 640 Hamilton Ave., Farrell, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday (2-28-02) in his home. He was 50. Obituary information was incomplete.
WRIGHT Richard E. 'Short Mort' Morton Jr. Sharon Steel retiree belonged to local veterans clubs A memorial service will be held Monday for Richard E. "Short Mort" Morton Jr. of 3336 Hubbard-West Middlesex Road, Shenango Township, formerly of French Street in Farrell. He passed away at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 59. Born Aug. 24, 1942, in Sharon, Mr. Morton was a son of Richard E. Morton Sr. and the late Rose Burns Morton. He attended schools in West Middlesex and retired in 1992 as a roll grinder from the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant after 33 years of service. He was also a member of the AFL-CIO union at the plant. Mr. Morton was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286 in Farrell, and American Legion Post 299 in Sharon. An outstanding athlete, he was a standout basketball player at West Middlesex High School and coached the West Middlesex Roth Streakers Girl's Softball Team in 1987 and 1988, leading them to Shenango Valley and Pennsylvania state championships. Mr. Morton was also an avid golfer and belonged to several different leagues. Survivors include: three daughters, Mrs. David A. (Drenda R.) McNamara; and Mrs. Gary A. (Tonya L.) Smith, both West Middlesex; and Mrs. Robert "Dave" (Tara S.) Nehland, Sharon; his father, West Middlesex; one brother, Larry E. Morton and his wife Karen, Farrell; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Brian (Monique) Kimmel; George Kostik; David and Chelsea McNamara; Gary and Sara Smith; and Alissa, David and Justin Nehland; and one great-grandson, Trent J. Kimmel. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Fisher. Salinda "Sally" N. Ritenour, Houston Street, Harrisville, died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township. She was 78. Mrs. Ritenour was born March 6, 1923, in Butler County, to Leeroyand Susan Kifer Snow. She was a shoe salesperson at the former Jaffe's shoe store in Butler. She was also an Avon representative. Mrs. Ritenour was a member of Forestville United Methodist Church and the Auxiliary to American Legion Post 852 in Harrisville. Her husband, Gerald P. "John" Ritenour, whom she married on Jan. 23, 1960, died on Jan. 26, 1992. Surviving are: one son, Kenneth L. "Bud" Donaldson, Garrettsville, Ohio; four grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Florence Fair, Wickliffe, Ky. Besides her husband, Mrs. Ritenour was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers.
