Rudolph Wright
Carpenter formerly of Farrell was grid standout, avid golfer

Rudolph "Rudy" Wright, of 682 Arbor Way, Aurora, Ohio, formerly of 640 Hamilton Ave., Farrell, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Thursday (2-28-02) at home. He was 50.

Mr. Wright was born June 26, 1951 in Sharon to Randolph Wright Jr. and Lauren Smith Wright.

A retired self-employed carpenter, Wright was a graduate of Farrell High School and a member of Greater Morris Chapel A.M.E. Church in Farrell. He was also an affiliate member of Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church in Cincinnati.

Mr. Wright was a varsity football standout at Farrell High School; and belonged to the Football Travelers Club of Farrell. He was a former member of the Twin City Elks Lodge 187 in Farrell and was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his fiancee, Zaneta Vanderveer, Farrell; a daughter, Marissa Veneable, Washington, Pa.; two sons, Lamont Hailstock, Farrell; and Brandon Smith, Hermitage; five sisters, Dr. Daisy Alford-Smith Pepper, Pike, Ohio; Gloria Harris, Cincinnati; Patricia Holden, Hermitage; and twins, the Rev. Jeanette Hooks and Janice Stewart, both Farrell; four brothers, his twin Randolph Wright III, Farrell; Derrick Wright, Farrell; Ramon Wright, Cincinnati; and Lawrence Gillespie, Farrell; four grandchildren, Lamont Jr., Andre, Malcom and Brandon Jr.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Valeria J. Telega

Farrell woman, Westinghouse retiree loved music, polka

Valeria J. Telega, 910 Beechwood Ave., Farrell, died Saturday (3-2-02) at home. She was 80.

Miss Telega was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Farrell to Thomas and Josephine Korab Telega.

A 1941 alumna of Farrell High School, Miss Telega retired in 1981 from the office of the shipping department at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and the Westinghouse Retirees Association, both Sharon; and she enjoyed music and polka dancing.

Surviving are: two brothers, Edward J. Telega, Hermitage; and Bennie Telega, Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alex and Joseph Telega; and two sisters, Stella Yankle and Jean Pinti.

Rosemarie Fier

Homemaker belonged to First Assembly of God

Rosemarie Fier, 421 Fullingmill Road, Mercer, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday (3-2-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, following an extended illness. She was 72.

She was born July 7, 1929, in Masury to Robert J. and Rose Nagy Manion.

A homemaker, Mrs. Fier was a 1948 alumni of Brookfield High School and a member of First Assembly of God, Hermitage.

Surviving are: her husband, Christy Fier, whom she married Feb. 26, 1949, at home; one son, Christopher Fier, Mercer; two daughters, Margaret Cashier, Sharpsville; and Elaine Rainey, Hermitage; three brothers, Robert J. Manion, Brookfield; the Rev. James E. Manion, Glenwood, Md.; and Ronald H. Manion, Columbus, Ohio; one stepsister, Betty Jane Isabella, Hubbard; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Peggy Manion.

Pamela J. Sabo

Keystone Blind Association member lived in Sharon

Pamela J. Sabo, 632 E. State St., Sharon, died Saturday (3-2-02) in her home of natural causes. She was 50.

She was born Jan. 20, 1952, in Sharon to Leonard C. and Helen Kimpan Sabo.

Ms. Sabo was a member of the Keystone Blind Association, Sharon, where, according to Executive Director Jonathan Fister, "She was a selfless volunteer and was pro-efficient." She participated in the weaving of rugs, made diapers and did vision screening for preschool children and adults. Ms. Sabo enjoyed the simple things of life and touched the hearts of many in her passage through life. She will be missed greatly by many.

Surviving are: three brothers, Patrick Sabo and his wife Kathy, Sharon; Leonard Sabo, Jr. and his wife Colleen, Bridgeville, Pa.; and John Michael Sabo and his wife Deb, State College, Pa.; and one sister, Patricia Ausink, state of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Omro M. Todd, Ph.D.

Retiree was college educator, pastor formerly of Greenville

Omro M. Todd, Ph.D., of Falconbridge Place, Mount Dora, Fla., formerly of Greenville, died Wednesday (2-27-02). He was 72.

He was born in Toddville, Md., and moved to central Florida from Greenville in 1997.

Mr. Todd served in the Navy during World War II.

He was a retired college administrator/professor.

Mr. Todd attended First United Methodist Church, Mount Dora. He also was a retired United Methodist minister of 19 years.

He was active in many professional and service organizations. He was a member of the Country Club of Mount Dora and a board member and trustee for numerous community organizations.

Mr. Todd enjoyed sailing on Chesapeake Bay and was a member of the Save Chesapeake Bay Association. He was also an avid golfer.

Surviving are: his wife at home, Flora W. Todd; two sons, Marc Todd and his wife Marianne, Pittsburgh; and Jon M.L. Todd, Johnson City, Tenn.; two brothers, Bennett R. Todd, Bishopville, Md.; and Charles Warren Todd, Cambridge, Md.; three sisters, Evelyn Miller, Cambridge; Carolyn Jones, Toddville, Md.; and Ruth Meekins, Cambridge; and one grandchild, Abigal, Pittsburgh.

Isaac F. Clarke

Active Mason was WWII vet, worked at Sharon Steel

Isaac F. Clarke, 275 Sterling Ave., Sharon, passed away at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday (2-26-02) in O'Brien Nursing Home, Masury. He was 80.

He was born Dec. 21, 1921, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Isaac Newton and Olive Gibson Clarke.

A graduate of Brooklyn High School, Mr. Clarke attended Youngstown State University and Dana School of Music.

Mr. Clarke served in the Army during World War II in the battles of New Guinea and Northern Solomons.

He was employed by the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant for many years.

Mr. Clarke was a member of First Baptist Church, Farrell.

He was a former lecturer of the 8th Masonic District, New Castle through Erie; and elevated to a 33rd Degree Mason in May 2001. He was also the past Worshipful Master and former Secretary for the Calumet Lodge 25, Free and Accepted Masons, Farrell; the current secretary of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Twin City 187, Farrell; past worthy patron of Miriam Chapter 47 Order of the Eastern Star, Farrell; a member of the Holy Royal Arch Beaver Valley Chapter 10, New Castle; former commander of Whitney M. Young Consistory 88, Erie; and the Victory Past Exalted Rulers Council 199 of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Mr. Clarke enjoyed playing checkers and pool.

Surviving are: his wife, Vivian L., whom he married 60 years ago on Feb. 26, 1942, at home; one son, Ronald Ellis Fitzgerald Clarke and his wife Juanita L., Pasadena, Md.; four grandchildren, Ronanda Q. Palmer, Farrell; Valencia Pierce, Pittsburgh; Ronald Jason Clarke, Pasadena; and Jyllian L. Clarke Growney, Silver Springs, Md.; three great-grandchildren, Ramon A. Pierce, Pittsburgh; Brittney Nashae Clarke, Hawaii; and Isaac JaRon Clarke, Pasadena; one sister, Ruby Mabel Clarke, Southfield, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Ruth H. Riddick, Manhattan, N.Y.; and Hazel H. Bayne, Queens, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and very close and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Alphonso James, Farrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard Allan Clarke; and two brothers, Prince William and George Rupert Clarke.

Ellen Hudson

Caregiver lived in Hermitage, was active in Notre Dame

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday (3-9-02) for Ellen E. Hudson, 649 Treetop Lane, Hermitage. She passed away in her residence at 1:42 a.m. Thursday (2-28-02) following a strong battle with lung cancer. She was 57.

Mrs. Hudson was born Feb. 29, 1944, in McKeesport, Pa., to Charles and Margaret Deemer Barry.

A 1962 alumna of West Mifflin High School, Mrs. Hudson attended Community College of Allegheny County, where she received her certification to perform echocardiograms and was a professional caregiver.

She deeply enjoyed helping the elderly as a caregiver throughout the community. In her later years, Ellen loved to sew and make crafts, play cards and, most of all, travel. She enjoyed being a group leader planning trips to Las Vegas at least once a year.

Mrs. Hudson was an active member of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, where she volunteered with the catering group for 28 years. In her earlier years, she worked as a cashier for both the former Acme grocery store, West Mifflin; and the Kroger grocery store, Hermitage.

Surviving are: her husband, Geoffrey C. Hudson, whom she married Dec. 31, 1963, in Holy Spirit Church, West Mifflin, at home; her first daughter, born in 1966, Mary Beth Walheim and her husband Carl, Mercer; her second daughter, born in 1983, Kathleen Hudson, at home; a brother Charles F. Barry and his wife Cecelia, Pleasant Hills, Pa.; a devoted sister, Theresa Heas-ley, and her husband William Yost, West Mifflin; and two grandsons, David and Sean Rossi, both Mercer.

Ellen's wishes were to be cremated and to have a memorial Mass held for her at Notre Dame Church, Hermitage, with her urn present and one single yellow rose. The rose is Ellen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Barry.
