William B. Burnett Ex-worker at dairies, born in Hartford, had son in Burghill NILES, Ohio -- William B. Burnett, 1317 Robbins Ave., Niles, died at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in Autumn Hills Care Center. He was 70. Mr. Burnett was born Dec. 22, 1931, in Hartford to Walter M. Burnett and Myrtle Wishart Burnett. He retired in 1997 after seven years as a maintenance worker for J.C. Penney Co. in Niles. Mr. Burnett previously worked for the former Sealtest Dairy, Borden's Dairy and Brookfield Dairy. He was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Niles. Mr. Burnett enjoyed bowling and watching football, baseball and Western movies on television. Surviving are: his wife, the former Dorothy Soos, whom he married May 1, 1954, at home; one son, William M. Burnett, Niles; one brother, Charles Burnett, Burghill; and four grandchildren. Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by one grandson; and three brothers, John, Walter and Marion Burnett.
BURNETT Emerson LeRoy 'Nip' Hittle Grange member, cemetery director retired from WE Emerson LeRoy "Nip" Hittle of 2024 Mercer Road, Delaware Township, died unexpectedly at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at his residence. He was 84. Mr. Hittle was born Feb. 17, 1918, in Fredonia, a son of the late Alvin O. and Emma Haas Hittle. He was employed by the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. and the Westinghouse site in Transfer, from which he retired. Mr. Hittle also enjoyed farming on his farm in Delaware Township. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Greenville; Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 592 in Sheakleyville; and American Legion Post 919, Fairview Township. Mr. Hittle was also a member of the Stony Point Grange in Fredonia and served as a director for the Delaware Cemetery Association. He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Air Corps. Mr. Hittle is survived by: a daughter, Karen Black, Fredonia; a son, Ronald Hittle, Durham, N.C.; a sister, Gladys Cook, Kennard; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Robert Hittle and Ralph Hittle.
HITTLE Charles W. 'Hungry' Holmes Wheatland Tube retiree was St. John's Orthodox member Charles W. "Hungry" Holmes, 7066 E. State St. in Jefferson Township, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, following an extended illness. He was 74. Born Dec. 31, 1927, in Brent, Pa., Mr. Holmes was a son of Susie Holmes. He attended school in Grove City and was a crane operator at Wheatland Tube Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Mr. Holmes served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Sharon. Active in baseball and car racing, Mr. Holmes also was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching and attending car races. On June 7, 1958, he and the former Margaret Benya were married in St. John's Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Holmes is survived by: his daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Rich Pres-ton, West Middlesex; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lisa Holmes; and his granddaughter, Lauren Holmes, all Cranberry Township, Butler County; his sister, Marian Stoughton, Harlansburg, Pa.; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Education Development Fund in care of Sharon Regional Health System, 740 E. State St., Box 24; or St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, 725 Cedar Ave., both Sharon 16146.
HOLMES Dorothy L. McKnight Neider Homemaker belonged to Sharon Baptist Church A funeral service will be held Friday for Dorothy L. McKnight Neider, 119 Sharon-Bedford Road, Shenango Township, formerly of Hubbard. She died at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 84. Mrs. Neider was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Youngstown to John McKnight and Dora Barent McKnight. She attended Hubbard High School. As a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Hermitage, Mrs. Neider belonged to the Women's Missionary Society and the Senior Saints within the church. A homemaker, she also enjoyed sewing. Her husband, Paul W. Neider, whom she married Aug. 1, 1938, died Aug. 27, 2000. Surviving are: one daughter, Janet L. Fisher, West Middlesex; one son, William G. Neider, Masury; one sister, Alice Jervis, Sharon; and three grandchildren, Lara A. Simpson, Niles, Ohio; and Karen L. Fisher and Arthur P. Fisher, both West Middlesex. Besides her husband, Mrs. Neider was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and seven brothers.
NEIDER Donald W. Nelson Donald W. Nelson, 1425 W. Main St., Grove City, died at 3:08 p.m. Wednesday (3-6-02) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township. He was 73. Obituary information was incomplete.
NELSON David Isaac Roqueplot '95 Sharpsville grad attended Pa. culinary arts school A funeral service will be held Saturday for David Isaac Roqueplot, 73 Erie St., West Middlesex, formerly of 684 Campground Road, West Middlesex. He died unexpectedly at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2002, in his home. He was 25. Mr. Roqueplot was born Feb. 13, 1977, in what is now UPMC Horizon, Farrell, to David J. and Carol L. Herrmann Roqueplot. An alumnus of Sharpsville High School Class of 1995 and Pennsylvania Culinary Arts School in Pittsburgh, he was employed by DiLorenzo Catering and Deli in Hermitage. He previously worked at Winner Steel in Sharon. Mr. Roqueplot attended New Bedford Presbyterian Church. Surviving are: his wife, the former Amy Rosa, whom he married on Sept. 26, 1998; two sons, Brandon Isaac Roqueplot and Kyle Isaiah Roqueplot; his father, Masury; his mother, Carol Carpec, and stepfather, Michael Carpec, West Middlesex; one brother, Daniel T. Roqueplot, West Middlesex; his grandparents, Nancy J. Templeton, Wheatland; Clyde and Barbara A. Herrmann, Transfer; and Eugene and Betty Roqueplot, Farrell; and his great-grandmother, Lenora Roqueplot, West Middlesex. Mr. Roqueplot was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert C. Templeton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in David's memory to New Bedford Presbyterian Church, Box 225, Marr Road, New Bedford 16140.
