Richard J. Peterson Richard J. Peterson, 1505 Monticello Ave., Hermitage, died at 1:30 p.m. Friday (3-15-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 55. Obituary information was incomplete.
PETERSON James R. King GJR security worker was wildlife photographer Funeral services will be held Monday for James R. King, 992 Jackson Center-Polk Road, Worth Township, who died unexpectedly at 7:46 p.m. Thursday (3-14-02) in the emergency room of United Community Hospital, Pine Township after becoming ill at home. He was 46. He was born Aug. 23, 1955 in Sewickley, Pa. to Darrell F. and Margaret Baker King. A 1976 alumna of Lakeview High School, Mr. King worked almost 25 years at the George Junior Republic, Pine Township, as evening security. A Protestant, he loved the outdoors and was an avid outdoorsman and wildlife photographer. He enjoyed bowling and visiting with his friends. Surviving are: one brother, Darrell King and his wife Janet, Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and two nephews, Daniel and Greg King, Baden, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Marie and Ray King, who helped rear him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer County Federation of Sportsman's Clubs, Inc., 6941 Dermond Road, Hermitage 16148.
John H. 'Bones' Ring Decorated WWII Marine was Sharon Steel retiree John H. "Bones" Ring, 579 S. Mercer Ave., Hermitage, died at 10:52 p.m. Thursday (3-14-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 82. He was born Jan. 23, 1920, in Elwood, Ind., to John F. and Margaret Hurley Ring. A 1940 alumna of Farrell High School, Mr. Ring served in the Marines receiving the Purple Heart in the battle of Saipan Island in the South Pacific. He personally received the Presidential Citation of Honor from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Before retirement in 1985, Mr. Ring was employed 43 years for the Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant as a first helper in the open hearth. When the hearth closed, he worked as plant security until his retirement. A Catholic, he was a lifetime member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 103, Sharon. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7597, Farrell. Mr. Ring was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed all sports. Surviving are: his wife at home, June J. Freeble, whom he married May 3, 1985; two step-daughters, Mrs. Patrick (Judy) Beard, Hermitage; Paula Draskovic, Sharpsville; a step-son, James F. Freeble, Sharpsville; four sisters, Jo Ann Wile, Wheaton, Ill.; Mrs. Sam (Elizabeth "Betty" DeMatteo, Farrell; Mrs. Stanley (Jeanette) Susinski, Hermitage; and Mrs. Kenneth (Carole) Greene, Farrell; five nephews, four nieces and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jerry, Robert and Joseph Ring.
RING Anthony M. 'Big Russ' Russell 1984 Farrell grad attended Friendship Baptist Church Anthony M. 'Big Russ' Russell, 378 Logan Ave., Sharon, died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday (3-13-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 35. He was born June 4, 1966 in Washington, Pa., to Thomas and Roberta A. Baker Russell, Sr. A 1984 alumna of Farrell High School, Mr. Russell was self-employed with interest in various businesses in the area. He attended Friendship Baptist Church, Farrell. Surviving are: a daughter, Shay'ana Motten, Hubbard; three uncles, Robert Baker, Jr., Farrell; Charles Johnson, Portland, Ore.; Jerome Baker, Greensburg; one Aunt, Darlene Griffin, Cleveland; his father, Donora, Pa.; one sister Marika Russell, Pittsburgh; three nephews, Robert Russell, Sharon; Aundray Russell, East Spencer, N.C.; Jalen Russell, Pittsburgh; three nieces, Shayna Marks, Sharon; Payton Russell, E. Spencer, Jasmyn Russell, Pittsburgh; a brother, Thomas Russell and his wife Lisa, East Spencer; a half-brother, Charles Russell, Donora; a godson, Everton Rollins, Sharon; and special grandson, Quintin Singleton, Sharon. He was preceded in death by his mother, his grandparents, Robert and Beatrice Baker, his aunt, Yvonne Y. Baker; and two uncles, John and William Baker.
RUSSELL Julia Zagger Fla. woman had been active in St. Michael's Byzantine LARGO, Fla. -- Julia Zagger, 901 Seminole Blvd., Apartment 422, Largo, formerly of Lexington Drive, Hermitage, passed away at about 8 a.m. Thursday (3-14-02) in her residence. She was 86. She was born March 20, 1915, in Pardoe, Va., to Michael and Anna Medvic Goda. Mrs. Zagger moved to the Shenango Valley in the 1920s and attended Farrell schools. After the death of her husband, Louis Zagger, on March 19, 1992, she moved to Florida to be with her daughter. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Patrick Church, Largo. She formerly was an active member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage, and returned annually to the area to take a pilgrimage to Washington, Pa., with members of St. Michael's. She will be remembered as a loving mother and a very caring person and also for her many acts of kindness, particularly in the personal care home where she lived in Florida. Mrs. Zagger and her daughter enjoyed traveling together and have traveled to Rome, Greece and the Grand Caymen Islands. Surviving are: her daughter, Patricia Ann Schmid, and her husband John R., Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren, Michael J. Schmid, Clearwater; and Gretchen Ann Schmid, Austin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Ann Goda Giroski, Mary Goda Veselasky and Helen Goda Harkulich; and two brothers, George and Michael Goda. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Cemetery Fund, in care of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 2230 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.
ZAGGER Michael 'Mike' Senich St. Michael's Byzantine member was WE retiree SOUTH VENICE, Fla. -- Michael "Mike" Senich, 235 Tulane Road, South Venice, Fla., formerly of Farrell, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2002, in Bon Secour Hospital in Venice, after a brief illness. He was 79. Mr. Senich was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Farrell to Vasil and Anna Gulay Senick. A 1941 graduate of Farrell High School, he retired in 1983 after 38 years of service from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was a pipefitter. Mr. Senich was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage. He enjoyed sports. Surviving are: his wife, the former Edith Boles, whom he married June 16, 1945; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Diana) Stines, Williamsburg, Ky.; one son, Robert Senich, Venice; four sisters, Mary Wansack, Middletown, Pa.; Helen Chichester, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Roland (Margaret) Whitney, Hermitage; and Julian Baugh, Sharpsville; one brother, John Senich and his wife Myrna, Medina, Ohio; four grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Senich was preceded in death by his parents.
SENICH Agnes J. Rozich Croation Union member enjoyed gardening Agnes J. Rozich, 1103 Broadway Ave. S.E., Masury, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday (3-14-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 91. She was born Aug. 2, 1910, in Minneapolis to Paul and Josephine Benisek Dolosky. A homemaker, Mrs. Rozich was a member of the Croation Fraternal Union 126, Farrell. She enjoyed her flower garden and crocheting. Surviving are: her husband, Steve W. Rozich, whom she married Sept. 8, 1932; a son, William S. Rozich, Girard, Ohio; a daughter, Jean R. Baron, Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Anna Lombardo, Sharon; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and two loving nieces, Angela Virostick and Paula Turnbull. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and four sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's choice.
ROZICH Michael Joseph Meszaros Funeral services will be held Monday (3-18-02) for Michael Joseph Meszaros, 10-month-old son of Joseph Michael and Christen Jean Gereb Meszaros, 3820 Lamor Road, Hermitage. He passed away unexpectedly at 3:30 p.m. Thursday (3-14-02) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Tod Children's Hospital, Youngstown. Michael was born April 25, 2001, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. His parents attend New Life Baptist Church, New Wilmington. Surviving besides his parents are: his paternal grandmother, Connie L. Schehl Meszaros, Wheatland; his maternal grandparents Richard K. and Sherry L. Gereb, Clark; his maternal great-grandmother, Betty K. Gereb, Hermitage; his maternal great-grandfather, Edward R. Hopkins, Hermitage; an uncle and aunt, Scott E. and Ami Gereb, New Cumberland, Pa.; an aunt, Tammy R. Meszaros, Sharpsville; and a cousin, Brandon M. Meszaros, Sharpsville. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Michael John Meszaros; his maternal great-grandfather, Arthur Gereb; and his maternal great-grandmother, Mary Jane Hopkins. Memorial contributions may be made to Tod Children's Hospital, with the memo line notation, "Child and Life Education Department," 500 Gypsy Lane, Youngstown 44501.
