F. Irene Burke
First U.M. church member retired as Sharon bank teller

F. Irene Burke, East Lackawannock Township, formerly of 140 Taylor Ave., Sharon, died at 11:40 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, in Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township. She was 92.

Mrs. Burke was born March 29, 1910, in Meadville to Fred Henry and Laurentine Holt Henry.

A 1929 graduate of Meadville High School, she retired as a teller at the former First National Bank of Sharon, later known as First Seneca Bank.

Mrs. Burke belonged to First United Methodist Church in Sharon and was a life member of Order of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed playing cards and was an accomplished bridge player.

Her husband, Charles W. Burke, whom she married Nov. 11, 1939, died in January 1974.

Surviving are: one son, David W. Burke and daughter-in-law, Mary, Sharpsville; one nephew; two nieces; and several cousins.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Burke was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Robert Burke; and one brother, Coyt Henry.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 660 Fisher Hill St.; or F.H. Buhl Park, 730 Forker Blvd., both Sharon 16146.

Glenn S. Redfoot

Steel Car retiree, WWII vet was on zoning, church boards

A funeral service will be held Sunday for Glenn S. Redfoot of 1254 Greenville-Mercer Road, Jefferson Township. He died unexpectedly at 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 79.

Mr. Redfoot was born Sept. 24, 1922, in Jefferson Township, a son of the late Clarence H. and Orpha E. Ringer Redfoot.

On Jan. 10, 1948, he married the former Norma K. Christy, who preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1985.

Mr. Redfoot married Shirley Pinkle on Sept. 27, 1986. She survives.

He was employed by the former Greenville Steel Car and retired in 1982 as a general foreman after having completed 42 years of service.

Mr. Redfoot was a lifelong farmer on the family homestead in Jefferson Township and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Delaware Township, where he had served on the church council.

He was a former member of the Jefferson Township Zoning Board for 20 years and belonged to the Pennsylvania Farmers Association.

Mr. Redfoot was a World War II veteran, having served as a corporal with the U.S. Army in Japan and the Asiatic Pacific Theater where he was awarded several medals of honor.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two daughters, Nancy Ann McMillan and her husband, David, Addy, Wash.; and Carol Nickols and her husband, Larry, Transfer; one son, Calvin Glenn Redfoot, Texas; two stepdaughters, Mary Jane Jost and her husband Jerry; and Judy Elaine Barron, both Las Vegas; one stepson, Jerry Owen Jones and his wife, Lorie, Kinsman; a sister, Julia Bartholomew and her husband, Warren, Warren, Ohio; and a brother, Dale Redfoot and his wife Pat, Chapel Hills, N.C.

The family has asked that those planning an expression of sympathy would consider contributions to the Cancer Care Center, 2360 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.

    Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church with the Rev. Ronald Harbaugh, pastor, officiating.
    Interment: With military honors accorded by the Honor Guard Detail of the U.S. Army in Delaware (Township) Cemetery.


Albert G. Dubrasky

WE retiree was WWII vet, active in youth baseball

Albert G. Dubrasky of 929 Judson Road, Masury, died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday (4-11-02) in the home of his son. He was 75.

Mr. Dubrasky was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Farrell, a son of John and Elizabeth Beney Dubrasky.

He was a 1944 graduate of Union High School in New Castle, and had attended the Shenango campus of Pennsylvania State University, Sharon; and the Art Movement Institute, Pittsburgh.

Mr. Dubrasky served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II.

He retired in 1983 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he had been employed in the industrial engineering department for 34 years. Mr. Dubrasky then worked as the Brookfield Township road supervisor and cemetery sexton from 1984 to 1993.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8860, Masury; and Church of the Sacred Heart; and the Westinghouse Retirees and Clerks Association, both Sharon.

Mr. Dubrasky had also been a Little League manager for 14 years and was active in the area as a baseball umpire for 30 years.

His wife, the former Rose Ritch, whom he married Nov. 26, 1949, died April 29, 1997.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael Dubrasky and his wife Linda, Rockville, Md.; and Mark Dubrasky and his wife Deborah, Masury; two sisters, Louise Stefanak, West Middlesex; and Irene Koncar, Pulaski; two brothers, John Dubrasky Sr., Pulaski; and Robert Dubrasky, West Middlesex; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146.

    Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. today (4-12-02) in MADASZ FUNERAL HOME Inc., 6923 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield.
    Service: Mass of Christian burial at 9 a.m. Saturday (4-13-02) in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with the Rev. Charles D. Skinner, sacramental assistant, as celebrant.
    Burial: Brookfield Township Cemetery.


Michael M. Subasic

Retiree formerly of WM belonged to Good Shepherd

Interment will be held in St. Rose Cemetery in Hermitage for Michael M. Subasic, Masury, formerly of West Middlesex. He died of natural causes at 5 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, in Orange Village Care Center, Masury. He was 77.

Mr. Subasic was born Nov. 28, 1924, in McCullough, Pa., to Frank and Barbara Lawrancic Subasic.

He retired in 1974 after 40 years as a well burner with Wean Engineering in Warren, Ohio.

Mr. Subasic was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.

He was the last surviving member of his family.

His wife, the former Helen Tomko, whom he married Sept. 2, 1951, died Dec. 5, 1990.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Nicholas, Joseph, John, Frank and George Subasic; and four sisters, Catherine Bolkvac, Ann Skaljack, Mary Kasun and Bertha Subasic.

Memorial contributions may be made in Michael's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
