Paul Kepko Jr. Sharon High alumnus retired from American Greetings PARMA, Ohio -- Paul Kepko Jr., Cleveland, formerly of Sharon, died at 4 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, in Holy Family Home, Parma, after a long illness. He was 71. Mr. Kepko was born June 20, 1930, in Sharon, a son of Paul and Mary Kepko. He resided in Cleveland, where he was employed for 34 years with American Greetings Corp. Paul was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a graduate of Sharon High School. While in the area, he attended Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon; and St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hermitage. He also belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars, North Ridgeville, Ohio. Paul was an ardent golfer and loved building model ships and planes. He was also a travel enthusiast, having toured extensively in the United States, including Hawaii. Surviving are: two brothers, Edward Kepko, Sharon; and William J. Kepko, Mount Vernon, Ohio. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Elsie Kepko Phillips. A Divine Liturgy will be held at 8 a.m. May 10, 2002, in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 2230 Highland Road, Hermitage, with the Rev. Frank Firko, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow immediately at the family gravesite in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery. Olive H. Hilkirk Olive H. Hilkirk, Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, formerly of Richmond Drive, both Hermitage, died at 8:26 p.m. Wednesday (4-24-02) in her home after an extended illness. She was 90. Obituary information was incomplete.
HILKIRK James Steven McArdle James Steven McArdle, 1075 Griswold St., Sharon, owner and operator of Newell Cleaners in Sharon, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday (4-24-02) in his home following a brief illness. He was 92. Obituary information was incomplete.
McARDLE Donald L. Shawley Sr. Sharpsville man moved here in 1969, liked to hunt, fish A funeral service will be held Friday for Donald L. Shawley Sr. of 418 Shenango St., Sharpsville. He passed away at 7:58 a.m. Wednesday (4-24-02) in the intensive care unit of UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 63. Mr. Shawley was born May 4, 1938, in Stoney Creek, Somerset County, Pa., a son of Lester Shawley and Mary Mae Shawley. He attended Mount Pleasant area schools and moved to the Shenango Valley in April 1969. Mr. Shawley retired on disability in 1982 from Sakrete Concrete Co. in Fredonia, where he was a packer. He previously worked for Graham Stamping in Hermitage as a press operator from 1969 to 1977. Mr. Shawley was affiliated with Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Lackawannock Township. An outdoorsman, he was a avid hunter and fisherman. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Shawley enjoyed being with his family. His wife, the former Marilouise A. McLaughlin, whom he married Nov. 9, 1957, in Armbrust, Pa., survives at home. Also surviving are: three daughters, Sally M. Harakal, Lackawannock Township; and Tracey L. Shawley, also Lackawannock Township, fianceé of Donald Pritchard III; and Donna Porterfield, wife of Francis Porterfield, Orangeville; three sons, Donald L. "Les" Shawley Jr. and his wife Laura Ann, Hermitage; Rick L. Shawley and his wife Lenora, at home; and Charles Wayne Shawley, Mercer; two sisters, Jean White, Indian Head, Pa.; and Margaret Olinzock, Normalville, Pa.; two brothers, Ronald Shawley, Mammoth, Pa.; and Robert Shawley and his wife Sue, Jones Mills, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Harakal; Sarah, Tara, Donny, Chris, Rosalyn, and Kathryn Shawley; Brittany and Cheyenne Porterfield; and Asia Cohol; and a very special foster daughter, Christina Yereb. Mr. Shawley was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Wayne Shawley, who died in 1969 while serving in the Vietnam conflict; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Catherine McLaughlin, whom he loved dearly.
SHAWLEY Temple Lucille Hoagland Lackawannock Township native had relatives here MUNCIE, Ind. -- Temple Lucille Hoagland, 5205 S. Breezewood Drive, Muncie, formerly of West Middlesex, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2002, in Ball Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was 84. Mrs. Hoagland was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Lackawannock Township to Elmer Bartholomew and Glennie McCullough Bartholomew. A homemaker, she was a member of Corinth United Methodist Church in Muncie. Surviving are: her husband, Allen "Hap" Hoagland, whom she married Sept. 14, 1935, at home in Muncie; three daughters, Lixlee, wife of Franklin "Buck" Schroyer, Lackawannock Township; Donna Rae, wife of James Leas, Shenango Township; and Margie Allyn, wife of Steven Tucker, Voorhees, N.J.; two sons, Dwight David Hoagland, Lackawannock Township; and Gary Van Hoagland, Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Genevieve Bartholomew, New Wilmington; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hoagland was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Francis and Phillip Bartholomew. HOAGLAND Lillian Mulqueen GC woman, bank retiree was Grace U.M. member Lillian Mulqueen, 317 E. Pine St., Grove City, died Tuesday evening (4-23-02) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township. She was 96. Miss Mulqueen was born July 20, 1905, in Grove City to Thomas Patrick Mulqueen and Elsie Filer Mulqueen. An alumna of Grove City High School, she retired from Northwest Bank, now Mellon Bank in Grove City. Miss Mulqueen was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City. Surviving are: one nephew, David G. Allen, Mississippi; four nieces, Mrs. John (Marda) Katshir, Mount Lebanon; Carol Royle; and Mrs. Thomas (Karen) McKnight, both Grove City; and Mrs. Robert (Kathy) Whitesell, Gettysburg, Pa.; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Mulqueen. Miss Mulqueen was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Charles, John, Thomas, William, Walter and Robert Mulqueen; and one sister, Mrs. Charles W. (Margaret) Allen.
