Warren W. Cook '56 Hubbard grad, Navy vet was retired plumber/fitter Warren W. Cook of 7156 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard, died at 11:32 p.m. Tuesday (4-30-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. He was 63. Mr. Cook was born Sept. 29, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of William S. and Viola McCune Cook. He was a 1956 graduate of Hubbard High School and attended St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Sharon. Mr. Cook was a member of MoPar Truck Club and Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 250 in Sharon, now Kedron Lodge 389 in West Middlesex. For 20 years, he was a plumber/steamfitter for Store Systems & Service in Youngstown, retiring in 1998. Mr. Cook was also an avid reader. He served in the U.S. Navy as a first machinist from 1957 to 1960. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Tatusko, whom he married on Oct. 14, 1961, at home. Also surviving are: his mother, Viola Cook McGinley, San Diego; two sons, William W. and his wife Mary Kay Cook, Brookfield; and Jonathan S. and his wife Laurie Cook, Medina, Ohio; and three granddaughters, Stefanie, Sarah and Holly. Mr. Cook also leaves two sisters, Helen Dardy and her husband Tim, Bedford, Ohio; and Barbara A. Kalisuch, San Diego. He was preceded in death by his father. COOK Patricia M. McLusky Murray Retired Packard inspector belonged to Vienna church CORTLAND -- A funeral service and Mass will be held Saturday for Patricia McLusky Murray of 3525 Cadwallader Sonk Road, Cortland, formerly of Meek Street, Sharon. She died Tuesday afternoon (4-30-02) in her home of a heart attack. She was 56. Mrs. Murray was born July 2, 1945, in Sharon, a daughter of Anthony and Alice Lynott McLusky. A lifelong area resident, she was an alumna of Sharon High School and attended Youngstown State University. She had been employed at Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio, for 29 years, retiring as an inspector. She had also served on the political action committee and the women's committee at the plant. As a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Vienna, she belonged to the church Ladies Guild. Her husband, Kenny Murray, whom she married Aug. 22, 1987, survives at home. She also leaves: a son, Patrick Hall, Euless, Texas; a stepson, Eric Murray, Jackson, Miss.; a daughter, Lisa Pogacnik and her husband Jim, Hilliard, Ohio; a brother, Anthony McLusky, Sharon; a sister, Audrey Morgan, also Sharon; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Pogacnik, MacKenzie Hall and Anthony Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to stroke research.
MURRAY Commander Samuel R. Wideberg Decorated WWII Navy vet had daughter in Hermitage BREMERTON, Wash. -- Retired U.S. Navy Commander Samuel R. Wideberg passed away at 10:20 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2002, in Marine Court at the age of 82. Commander Wideberg was born Jan. 19, 1920, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Simon John and Frances Ruby Breesse Wideberg. A decorated U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II, having achieved the rank of commander. Commander Wideberg was a member of the Silver Eagles, an enlisted men's national association of World War II aviators. He enjoyed golfing. Commander Wideberg is survived by: one daughter, Sandra Venturo, Hermitage; two grandsons, Barry Hoover, Hermitage; and Tech. Sgt. Anthony Hoover, on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, San Antonio; four great-grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Hoover, West Middlesex; and Kayla Hoover and Tony Hoover Jr., San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Burial with full military honors will be held in Fort Rosecrans, San Diego. Ruth Elizabeth McConnell Haymaker MHS, Westminster teacher was wife of Sharon dentist NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. -- A private funeral service will be held Saturday for Ruth Elizabeth McConnell Haymaker, Newtown Square, formerly of Sharon. She died at 11 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2002, in Dunwoody Village. She was 99. Mrs. Haymaker was born Oct. 29, 1902, in Mercer to John Francis McConnell and Elizabeth Rutan Moore McConnell. A 1920 alumna of Mercer High School, she graduated in 1924 from Westminster College in New Wilmington, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. Mrs. Haymaker completed her advanced studies and achieved a master's degree in education from Columbia University in New York. She taught at Mercer High School and Westminster College, where she was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Mrs. Haymaker also belonged to the Sharon College Club and Sharon Regional Health System Women's Auxiliary. As a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, she belonged to the Junior Golden Workers and the Presbyterian Women's Association. She married her husband, Dr. George T. Haymaker, a dentist who practiced on Euclid Avenue in Sharon, on Aug. 19, 1936. He died June 18, 1974. Surviving are: a son, George T. Haymaker, San Francisco; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Haymaker was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one half sister.
HAYMAKER Dale E. Bartholomew Sharon Steel retiree served in church, on school board Dale E. Bartholomew, 248 Sodom Hutchings Road, Vienna, died at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002, in Cleveland Clinic. He was 82. Mr. Bartholomew was born Feb. 13, 1920, in Warren, Ohio, a son of Philip and Gertrude Bartholomew. He graduated in 1938 from Warren G. Harding High School, entered Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., and graduated in 1942. After college, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Dale was a B-17 pilot and flew 35 missions, having been honorably discharged as a first lieutenant in October 1945. Upon returning home, he began a 37-year career with the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where he held a variety of management positions in operations and personnel. He retired in June 1982. Dale was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Vienna, serving as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, trustee and elder. He also served two terms on the Fowler Vienna School Board, holding positions of president and vice president. Dale was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 295, Warren; and Free and Accepted Masons Jerusalem Lodge 19, Hartford. Dale was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Ellen Smith. Survivors include: his second wife, Jean Bartholomew, at home; his children, Charlene Swift, Jan Scott and Philip Bartholomew; and her children, the Rev. Jim Mehler, George Mehler and Pam Seigfried. He has 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Doris Dunlap and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in memory of Dale E. Bartholomew.
