Goldie R. Boyd Goldie R. Boyd, 652 Hopper Road, Transfer, died at 5:02 p.m. Saturday (5-11-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 81. Obituary information was incomplete.
BOYD Dorothy M. Morrow Sharpsville woman was active in Hickory United Methodist Dorothy M. Morrow, 4100 Stewart Drive, Sharpsville, died of natural causes at 7:57 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. She was 81. Mrs. Morrow was born April 21, 1921, in Pittsburgh to Clarence E. Klein and Caroline StadtLander Klein. A graduate of Baldwin High School, Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh Business Institute, Mrs. Morrow retired in 1986 as a former executive secretary for Christian Associates of the Shenango Valley. As a member of Hickory United Methodist Church in Hermitage, she served as a lay leader and was the current president of Hickory United Methodist Women. Very active in church affairs, Mrs. Morrow served on the Administration Board for the Christian Associates; was a past vice-president of Church Women United in Pennsylvania; and was a past president and current treasurer of Church Women United in the Shenango Valley. Her husband, Arden L. Morrow, whom she married on May 16, 1945, died Dec. 24, 1990. Surviving are: two sons, Donald L. Morrow and his wife Barbara, Sharpsville; and Jack A. Morrow, Mercer; two brothers, Robert Klein and his wife Jean, Gerrardstown, W.Va.; and Clarence Klein, Palm Springs, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Gregory Morrow, Rebecca Morrow and Matthew Morrow. Besides her husband, Mrs. Morrow was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Evelyn Jean Roberts.
MORROW Anna M. Deluchie Jarocki Farrell woman was registered nurse, Army captain Anna M. Deluchie Jarocki, 731 Indiana Ave., Farrell, died of natural causes at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, in her home. She was 83. Mrs. Jarocki was born June 14, 1918, in Sharon, to Samuel Deluchie and Annette Bianco Deluchie. She was a graduate of Farrell High School Class of 1936. A registered nurse, Mrs. Jarocki received her certificate of nursing from the former Christian H. Buhl School of Nursing in 1939. She worked at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio, from 1939 to 1941. In 1941, Mrs. Jarocki entered the Army Nurse Corps before the U.S. entered World War II. She was stationed at Camp Lee, Va., and Fort Benning, Ga. In March of 1942, she was stationed in Australia and New Guinea as part of the first contingent of nurses to arrive there. She served during World War II and was overseas for two years. Having served in the Army for five years, her final assignment was at Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center, and prior to her discharge, achieved the rank of captain. As a member of St. Adalbert's Church in Farrell, when the church elementary school was in operation, Mrs. Jarocki was an active member of its Parent Teacher Organization; and was also a member of the Eckles Elementary Parent Teacher Association, having served as an officer in both. In 1952, she helped organize the Mercer County Association of the Retarded (MCAR). She served as its first president and has since been active on its board of directors, as well as on many committees. Mrs. Jarocki was a charter member of the Women's World War II Memorial Organization. She also belonged to Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) and AARP, a retired person's organization. An ardent volunteer, Mrs. Jarocki did blood pressure screenings at various locations in the Shenango Valley; was a "Polio Volunteer" in 1954 with Dr. Jonas Salk, administering vaccinations and medications to control polio; was a school aide at Monsignor Geno Monti Elementary School, Farrell; and was a camp nurse for many years at Camp Ah-Tol-Anac, Union City, Pa., as well as at Camp Crestview, Slippery Rock, both summer camps for the mentally challenged. For her outstanding service and achievements, she was honored at the MCAR 50th Anniversary, celebrated on Jan. 11 of this year. Her husband, Peter J. Jarocki, whom she married Feb. 23, 1946, died March 9, 1993. Surviving are: two sons, Joseph P. Jarocki, husband of Gail, Reston, Va.; and Jerome P. Jarocki, husband of Karen, Brunswick, Ga.; two daughters, Judy Ann Jarocki, Farrell; and Anna Marie Wagner, wife of David, Northville, Mich.; two sisters, Rose Mikulin, Sharon; and Helen Rossi, Farrell; four grandsons, Jeoffrey Jarocki, Vincent Jarocki, Michael Jarocki and Alec Wagner; and three granddaughters, Jodie Jarocki, Meridith Jarocki and Kathryn Jarocki. Besides her husband, Mrs. Jarocki was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Frank "Spike" Deluchie; and two sisters, Mary Ruffo and Nellie Heath. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Mercer County Association for the Retarded; or to Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice Home Care, 490 N. Kerrwood Drive, Suite 204, Hermitage 16148.
JAROCKI Earl S. 'Sib' Pittman Franklin native was veteran of WWII, retired electrician Earl S. "Sib" Pittman, St. Paul Homes, 47 Collins Drive, West Salem Township, formerly a Franklin and Hermitage Hills resident, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 81. A son of Everett T. and Agnes Mong Pittman, Mr. Pittman was born in Franklin on May 2, 1921. He was a graduate of Rocky Grove (Pa.) High School and Bliss Electrical School in Tacoma Park, Md. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Pittman was employed by Jones & Laughlin in Oil City for 23 years, retiring in 1973. At the time of his retirement, he was a maintenance electrician. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and belonged to the Izaak Walton League, Franklin Chapter. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. James (Doris) Delahunty, Hermitage. He was a beloved uncle to Sib, Becky, Barbra, Dick, Nancy, Judy and Jim; and several great-nieces and -nephews. Mr. Pittman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter E. Pittman and Paul E. Pittman; and a sister, Ruth A. Pittman. Private services were held in Franklin, with interment in Franklin Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial donations be made to St. Paul Homes, 339 E. Jamestown Road, Greenville 16125; or Franklin Izaak Walton, Box 91, Franklin Pa. 16323. Juanita Phillips PITTSBURGH -- Juanita Phillips, 110 McIntyre Road, Pittsburgh, died Saturday (5-11-02) in Ross Kane Regional Health Care Facility. She was 56. Obituary information was incomplete.
PHILLIPS Paul M. Fitzgerald Army vet was retired Mercer Forge maintenance supervisor Paul M. Fitzgerald, 479 Mercer-New Wilmington Road, East Lackawannock Township, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2002, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, following an extended illness. He was 77. Mr. Fitzgerald was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Mercer to Mildred Leah Fitzgerald. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as a maintenance supervisor from Mercer Forge Co. Mr. Fitzgerald was a member for more than 50 years of Mercer United Methodist Church and was a former member of Pleasant Valley Grange. His wife, the former Adaline Beggs, whom he married Nov. 27, 1984, survives at the residence. Also surviving are: a stepdaughter, Carol Courtney, Erie; two stepsons, S. Mark Courtney and his wife Debbie, Grove City; and Bruce Courtney and his wife Holly, Mercer; and two grandsons, Nathan and Brian Courtney. Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his parents.
