Betty Gail Rowe
Homemaker was of Baptist faith, leaves son in Sharon

Betty Gail Rowe, Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, formerly of 114 Smith Ave., Sharon, died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday (5-23-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 78.

Mrs. Rowe was born May 3, 1924, in Lowellville, Ohio, a daughter of Clifford C. and Genieve Garrett Heasley.

She was a high school graduate and was of the Baptist faith.

A homemaker, she married Carl James Rowe in 1958. He died in 1992.

She is survived by a son, Ronald J. Rowe, Sharon; and a sister, Delores Sarich, New Middleton, Ohio.

Also surviving are: nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Wilbur C. Rowe; and a sister, June Monday.

Meredieth Reels, Hermitage, died Friday (5-24-02) in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage. She was 87.

Ralph C. Clark

Owned, operated Greenville area businesses, properties

Ralph C. Clark, formerly of 211 W. Windridge Road, Hempfield Township, died at 2:10 a.m. Thursday (5-23-02) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. He was 67.

Mr. Clark was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Jamestown to Leonard and Sara Hatch Clark.

He attended Jamestown schools and was of the Protestant faith.

Mr. Clark owned and operated Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, Sandy Lake Auto Parts and the former Esso Gas Station, Greenville Auto Parts, the former Greenville Bowling Center, the former R & R Roller Rink, the former General Store, Reagle True Value Hardware and Gateway Tavern, all Greenville. He also owned and managed several rental properties in the Greenville area.

He trained and raced standard bred race horses. He enjoyed auto racing, golfing and bowling.

His first wife, the former Ruth M. Patterson, whom he married Feb. 21, 1957, died in 1996.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Margaret "Peggy" Mowery, whom he married Nov. 18, 2000; a son, Mark Clark and his wife, Cheryl; and two daughters, Terri Kremis and veterinarian Dr. Tammy Clark, wife of veterinarian Dr. Dean Eichstadt, all Greenville; three stepdaughters, Beth Montalvo, Greenville; Lynn Hodge, Springboro, Ohio; and Cathy Sculli, Pittsburgh; a stepson, Thomas Dowdell, Arlington, Va.; a brother, Gene Clark, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Nellie Frey, Greenville; four grandchildren, Lauren Eichstadt, Madison Eichstadt, Shaughnesy Clark and Marissa Clark; and seven stepgrandchildren.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Helen G. Gira Moore

Former LPN enjoyed reading, baking, traveling

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of family for Helen G. Gira Moore, 55 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, formerly of Pittsburgh. She died at 12:40 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002, in O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury, after an extended illness. She was 72.

She was married to Walter L. Moore, who died Nov. 16, 2001. They were married April 13, 1978.

Born Dec. 16, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Robert and Sudie Waldrop Mullen.

She was a graduate of Penn Hills High School and St. Margaret's School of Nursing, working as a licensed practical nurse in Pittsburgh for several years before moving to Sharon.

Mrs. Moore then became a homemaker, who loved to read novels and bake. She and her husband enjoyed traveling.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by: a daughter, Penny, wife of Robert Kahl, Burghill; a daughter, Kathy, wife of Edward Sigall, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four granddaughters, Jennifer, wife of Paul Beachy, Charleston, S.C.; Amy Clark, Columbus, Ohio; Katie Kahl, Alliance, Ohio; and Whitney Sigall, West Palm Beach; a grandson, Spencer Sigall, West Palm Beach; and a great-grandson, Tristan Robert Beachy, Charleston.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Norman Butler Humphrey

WWII vet was educational TV pioneer, Clarion prof

LAFAYETTE, La. -- Norman Butler Humphrey, Lafayette, formerly of Knox, Pa., and Grove City, died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2002, in the Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana. He was 80.

A native of Jacksville, Pa., and reared in Grove City, Mr. Humphrey was a longtime resident of Knox and Mount Dora, Fla.

A resident of Lafayette for the last two years, he was a son of Carl Grover Humphrey, a native of Slippery Rock, and of the former Florence Ida Butler, a native of East Brady, Pa.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Lafayette.

Mr. Humphrey was a veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was a professor emeritus at Clarion University of Pennsylvania and a pioneer in educational television for 21 years.

Mr. Humphrey was a member of the Pennsylvania Society of Geographic Educators and belonged to the Rotary Club in Knox and in Mount Dora.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, as well as his family.

Survivors include: his wife, Mildred Thompson Humphrey; a daughter, Norma Jean Luckey and her husband Robert A.; and two grandchildren, Michelle Luckey Abshire and her husband, Travis; and Robert Jennings Luckey, all of Lafayette.

Mr. Humphrey was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Florence Sandra Humphrey; two brothers, William Marion Humphrey and Floyd Wilmont Humphrey; and a sister, Mary Evelyn Humphrey.
