Frank N. Monteleone Sr.
Former Slippery Rock mayor worked for GC companies

Frank N. Monteleone Sr., Grove City Road, Slippery Rock, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, following a brief illness. He was 73.

Mr. Monteleone was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Grove City to Dominic Monteleone and Lena Macri Monteleone.

He retired in 1994 from Campbell's Asphalt Co., Grove City, where he had worked for 21 years. Previously, Mr. Monteleone worked at Montgomery Construction Co. in Grove City for 21 years.

He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock.

Frank was a former mayor of Slippery Rock from 1973 to 1985. He also served on Slippery Rock borough council for 15 years, before and after his mayoral term. He was a member of Local 964 of Laborers International Union of North America; a former Democratic committeeman for Slippery Rock; and a candidate for the office of Butler County commissioner.

Frank was also a former member of Slippery Rock Grange.

He belonged to Knights of Columbus Council 3658; and Sons of Italy, both Grove City; American Legion Post 393, Slippery Rock; and Slippery Rock Lions Club.

An. Army veteran, he served during the Korean conflict.

He was a member of the Butler County Law Enforcement Officers Association.

His wife, the former Frieda Ann Pink, whom he married March 1, 1960, survives at the residence.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Lori M. and her husband Kannan Ayyar, Los Altos Hills, Calif.; a son, Frank N. Monteleone Jr. and his girlfriend Bonnie Davis; and her daughter, Victoria Hairhoger, all Slippery Rock; and three brothers, Vincent and Joseph Monteleone, both Grove City; and Carmelo Monteleone, Daytona Beach, Fla.

Frank is also survived by three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Service: Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday (6-3-02) in St. Peter's Church, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Louis Pascazi, pastor of St. John's Church, Coylesville, Pa., as celebrant.
    Interment: Slippery Rock (Township) Cemetery, Butler County.


Josephine White

ERIE -- Josephine White, Erie, formerly of 1104 Negley St., Farrell, died at 10:14 p.m. Wednesday (5-29-02) in St. Mary's Home. She was 76.

Joseph Zalac

Joseph Zalac, 67 Nora St., Clark, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday (5-29-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 73.
