The following obituary is being reprinted from Tuesday to correct an error made by The Herald. Sharon Steel retiree was active in Nazarene church William H. Shacklock, 423 Main St., Sharpsville, died unexpectedly at approximately 3:45 p.m. June 3, 2002, in his home. He was 79. Mr. Shacklock was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Sharpsville to Frank V. and Lenora Almeda Derr Shacklock. The 1942 graduate of Sharpsville High School served during World War II in the Army, where he was a military police officer in India. He worked for Sharon Steel as a rigger for 34 years, retiring April 26, 1982. Mr. Shacklock was a member of Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the church board and was a past trustee, past International Nazarene Youth President and past usher. He was a member of Sharpsville American Legion Post 162; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404, Sharpsville; and Sharpsville Men's Service Club. Surviving are: his wife, the former Hazel Emerson Rearick, whom he married April 28, 1992; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Clarence (Amelia) Thompson, Transfer; and Mrs. Frank (Anna) Zarecky and Mrs. Charles (Erma) Miller, both West Salem Township; two stepsons, Paul Rearick Sr.; and Keith Rearick and his wife, Helen, all Transfer; a brother, Kenneth Shacklock, Sharpsville; 13 stepgrandchildren; and 26 stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret E. Filer and Betty J. Stabile; and one brother, Frank Shacklock.
SHACKLOCK Paul L. Barron Cooper Energy retiree, WWII vet belonged to East Main Paul L. Barron, 50 Patterson School Road, Pine Township, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in the emergency room of United Community Hospital, Pine Township. He was 82. Mr. Barron was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Ingram, Pa., to Harry C. and Nellie G. Seneff Barron. He retired in 1983 from Cooper Energy Services Reciprocating Products, Grove City, where he was an inspector and methods specialist for 38 years. Mr. Barron previously was a machinist for three years at Electric Materials Co. in North East. The U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II was a trouble-shooter on the B-29. He was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, where he was a former deacon, elder and president of the Fidelius Class. Mr. Barron also belonged to International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 1073 in North East. He loved gardening, was an avid reader and loved spending time with his family. Surviving are: his wife, the former Alice Jeanne Enslen, whom he married June 19, 1948; two children, Paula Jeanne Hays, wife of the Rev. Richard S. Hays, Waverly, Ohio; and Thomas Barron, Canfield, Ohio; two brothers, John W. Barron, Grove City; and Malcolm J. Barron, Harrisville; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Waldo and Harry Barron; one sister, Louise Davis; and one infant twin sister, Elizabeth Barron. BARRON Carolina Bartolomucci Born in Italy, St. Bart's member worked at New Villa Carolina Bartolomucci, 1425 Coronado Drive, Hermitage, formerly of Sharpsville, died at 1:22 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 87. Mrs. Bartolomucci was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Castro DeiVolci, Italy, to Rocco and Anna Colocci Molinari. She worked 27 years in the former New Villa Restaurant of Farrell. Mrs. Bartolomucci was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Sharpsville, and its St. Oliva Society. Her husband, Pietro Bartolomucci, whom she married March 17, 1935, died March 18, 1977. Surviving are: one daughter, Gina Bartolomucci Miller, Hermitage; one grandson, Albert Jason Miller, Chicago; one stepson, Angelo Bartolomucci, Sharpsville; three sisters and one brother, all Italy; five stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Busciglio; one stepson, Vincent Barolomucci; and one sister.
BARTOLOMUCCI Helen K. Gorzo Davidson Helen Davidson, 426 Superior St., Hermitage, died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday (6-5-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 89. Obituary information was incomplete.
DAVIDSON Helen L. DiVito Tower church member managed hospital shop Helen L. DiVito, Trinity Living Center, Grove City, formerly of Slippery Rock and Grove City, died at 2:15 a.m. June 5, 2002, in the nursing home. She was 85. Mrs. DiVito was born May 28, 1917, in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, to Edward D. and Lottie J. Bell Moyer. The 1935 Slippery Rock High School alumna was manager of the Hostess Shop at the former Bashline Hospital in Grove City. She also did volunteer work at United Community Hospital, Pine Township. Mrs. DiVito was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church, Grove City; and of the Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1895, Grove City. Her husband, Daniel J. DiVito, whom she married Oct. 11, 1950, died Jan. 23, 1972. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including her niece Janice A. Cornelius, with whom she resided in Slippery Rock before going to Trinity Living Center. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Ruth B. Noga.
DiVITO Harry Jackson Sharon Steel retiree was WWII Air Force sergeant Harry Jackson, 334 Woodland Ave., Farrell, died of natural causes at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 81. Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 20, 1920, in Farrell, to Jacob and Gertrude Miller Jackson. He attended Farrell schools and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Jackson retired in 1982 after 43 years as a millwright in the Farrell plant of the former Sharon Steel Corp. He was a member of Wheatland American Legion Post 432; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, Farrell. He was a Protestant. Harry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are: his wife, the former Frances A. Mularski, whom he married Jan. 31, 1948; one son, Robert Jackson, Sharon; three daughters, Patrice Holt, Farrell; Mrs. Paul (Beth) Carly, Hermitage; and Leslie Pintar, Sharon; one grandson, Jeffrey Holt; and six granddaughters, Jill Holt, Chrissy May-Stewart, Kimberly Jackson, Dana Carly, Brett Carly and Andrea Carly. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jamie May; and four sisters, Flora Hamilla, Helen Wesneski, Norma Steele and Mary Jane Dzaja.
JACKSON Claudia M. Jervis Grove City Alliance Church member was homemaker Claudia M. Jervis, 44 Jervis Road, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died at 11:31 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Grove Manor Nursing Home, Grove City, after an extended illness. She was 58. Mrs. Jervis was born Nov. 22, 1943, in New Castle to Claude Alan and Clara Mae Coryea Tharpe. She was a homemaker and member of Grove City Alliance Church, Liberty Township. Surviving are: her husband, Frederick R. Jervis, whom she married March 24, 1962; two daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Diane) Hamill, New Castle; and Mrs. William (Karen) Van Dyke, Mercer; her mother, New Castle; one sister, Cheryl Zimmer, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Tharpe and his wife, Alberta, New Castle; and Jerry Tharpe and his wife, Sandra, Jefferson City, Mo.; and five grandchildren. Her father preceded her in death.
JERVIS Eleanor Lucille Montgomery Former Mercer woman was legal secretary Eleanor Lucille Montgomery, 2323 Edinboro Road, Erie, formerly of Mercer, died at 7:15 a.m. Friday (5-31-02) in ForestView Skilled Nursing Center, Erie. She was 85. Mrs. Montgomery was born May 22, 1917, in Jefferson Township to Michael J. and Margaret Ellen Jennings O'Mahony. The 1933 Mercer High School alumna attended Mercyhurst College, Erie; and Grove City College. She was a legal secretary in several private law offices in Mercer and for Mercer County Courthouse. During World War II, she was a stenographer at Camp Reynolds. The parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Erie, had been a parishioner at the former All Saints Church, Jefferson Township; and at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer; and St. Patrick Church, Franklin. Mrs. Montgomery lived in Mercer until moving in 1972 to Franklin. She moved in 1995 to Erie. Mrs. Montgomery enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, needlepoint and playing duplicate bridge. Surviving are: her husband, William B. Montgomery, whom she married Dec. 22, 1943, at home; one daughter, Patricia E. Montgomery, Erie; two sons, William J. Montgomery, Franklin; and Robert J. Montgomery and his wife, Catherine, Port Richey, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Evangeline) Bergan, Erie; Mrs. George (Helene) Reznor, Mercer; and Julia Willis, Titusville; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Regis, John, Marlin, William and Richard O'Mahony; and two sisters, Margaret Brown and Mary Martiny. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity or church of the donor's choice. Mass of Christian burial was Monday (6-3-02) in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Jefferson Township. Bertha Mae Weigel Homemaker belonged to Christian Assembly Bertha Mae Weigel, St. Paul Homes, 399 E. Jamestown Road, formerly of 177 W. Jamestown Road, both West Salem Township, died at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday (6-5-02) in the nursing home. She was 99. Mrs. Weigel was born Aug. 3, 1902, in Greenville to Harry and Carrie Rodenmoyer Bortz. She was a graduate of the former Porter Schoolhouse in West Salem Township. Mrs. Weigel was a homemaker and member of Christian Assembly, Greenville. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting, tatting and spending time with her family. Her husband, Ross Weigel, whom she married July 20, 1940, died April 19, 1958. Surviving are: one stepson, Ross Knight, Sheffield, Pa.; four grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, E. Douglas and Charles Briggs; one brother, George Bortz; and four sisters, infant Helen Bortz, Leona Donavan, Florence Barry and Grace Bortz.
