Today's obituaries
The following obituary is being reprinted from Saturday to correct information given to The Herald, the name of a son of the deceased and his city of residence. Ex-Clarks Mills homemaker was active in Rebekah Lodge Pearl A. Hosack, Hempfield Township, formerly of Clark Mills, died early Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2002, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. She was 95. Mrs. Hosack was born March 27, 1907, in Greenville to Oliver Fritz and Lydia Derr Fritz. She was a graduate of the former Penn High School in Greenville. A homemaker, she was a member of Clarks Mills United Methodist Church and its Missionary Society. Mrs. Hosack belonged to Mary Jane Rebekah Lodge 496, Sheakleyville. She was also a Pennsylvania charter member and a past District deputy. Her husband, Harold N. "Pete" Hosack, whom she married Feb. 21, 1929, died Feb. 25, 1994. Surviving are: two sons, Gerald L. Hosack and his wife Janet, Greenville; and Bruce D. Hosack and his wife Joann, Seagrove, N.C.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald; and four sisters, Florence Ruffing, Norine Miller, Sarah Mowry Reash and Mary Ellen Christman. HOSACK R. Carl Beringer Alltel retiree of Meadville was WWII Navy vet, Mason MEADVILLE -- R. Carl Beringer, 9920 Salem House Golfview Manor, Meadville, died Friday evening, June 21, 2002, in his residence. He was 84. Mr. Beringer was born Aug. 27, 1917, in Jamestown to David Lee Beringer and Margaret Smith Beringer. He retired in 1980 with 40 years of service from Alltel in Meadville, where he worked in the switchroom and as a troubleshooter. Mr. Beringer also was employed by the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for five years. A Navy veteran, he served during World War II and was a past commander of American Legion Post 111, Meadville; and of the Crawford County American Legion. Mr. Beringer was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 408; and Kismet Grotto, both Meadville; Scottish Rites New Castle Consistory; Zem Zem Shrine Club, Erie; Crawford County Motor Patrol; and was a past monarch of Crawford County Shrine Club. He also belonged to Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 219 in Meadville; and Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Meadville for more than 50 years. Mr. Beringer enjoyed making wind chimes. His wife, the former Bernice Slater, whom he married Jan. 9, 1937, survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. David (Sharon) Hollern, Meadville; one grandson, Jason Lee Engelhardt, on active duty in the U.S. Navy in Meridan, Miss.; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Beringer was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Florence McElhaney and Mildred King; and two brothers, Ralph and Harry Beringer. BERINGER Eleanor P. Brennan '54 Farrell grad was retired bank teller, lived in Sharon Eleanor P. Brennan, 375 Sherman Ave., Sharon, died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2002, in South Pointe Hospital, Cleveland. She was 66. Mrs. Brennan was born April 23, 1936, in Farrell to Nick J. Yurcich and Pauline Babic Yurcich. A 1954 graduate of Farrell High School, she retired after 17 years as a bank teller at First National Bank in Hermitage. Mrs. Brennan was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Sharon. She enjoyed ballroom dancing. Surviving are: her husband, James F. Brennan, whom she married April 14, 1956, at home; her children, Dr. Nicholas and Laura Brennan, Hermitage; Terry P. Brennan, Orlando, Fla.; James J. and Mary Brennan, Phoenix; and Patrick L. Brennan, also Orlando; and two grandchildren, Taylor Jo and Luke J. Brennan. Mrs. Brennan was preceded in death by her parents.
BRENNAN Joan M. Eisner Illinois woman was born in Warren, Ohio LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. -- Joan M. Eisner, Buffalo Grove, Ill., died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday (6-20-02) in Condell Medical Center. She was 55. Mrs. Eisner was born Oct. 27, 1946, in Warren, Ohio, to Donald McCandless and Madeline Larocca McCandless. She was the beloved wife of Scott Eisner, at home; loving mother of Daniel and Nicholas Eisner; dear sister of Mark and his wife Leona McCandless; and devoted friend of "Buddy." Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 4100 Madison St., Hillside, Ill. 60162.
EISNER Roselyn Williams WM homemaker enjoyed playing cards and bingo Roselyn Williams, 37 South St., West Middlesex, passed away unexpectedly at 11:30 a.m. Saturday (6-22-02) in her residence. She was 79. Mrs. Williams was born June 16, 1923, in Grove City, a daughter of Harold Stanley and Waunita Truan Stanley. She attended schools in the Grove City area and moved to the valley in the 1940s. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and enjoyed card playing and bingo. Her husband, Francis C. Williams, whom she married Feb. 14, 1945, survives at home. She also leaves: a daughter, Robin L. Williams, Sharpsville; a son, Francis C. Williams Jr. and his wife Sun-Cha, West Middlesex; three sisters, Evelyn McQuilken, Sharon; Mrs. Elmer (Ann) Arblaster, Harrisville; and Mrs. Leslie (June) Phillips, Georgia, formerly of Wheatland; a brother, Carroll L. Stanley, Girard, Ohio; and one grandson, Dr. Bradley Williams, West Middlesex. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Ruth Barca, Bernice Schuller, Marion Smock, Frances Chaverine, Patricia Stanley and Katherine Kiefer; and one brother, Bill Stanley. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
