Elizabeth F. Felton Cairns Former Florida homemaker had son living in Sharon YORK, Pa. -- Elizabeth F. Felton Cairns, York, formerly of Sarasota, Fla., died at 9:15 p.m. Friday (6-21-02) in York Lutheran Retirement Village at Sprenkle Drive. She was 78. She was the wife of the late Dale Cairns. Mrs. Cairns was born June 18, 1924, in Bethel, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Helen Tittsler Felton. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota. Mrs. Cairns is survived by: one daughter, Carol J. Bradfield, York; two sons, Bruce R. Cairns, Sharon; and David E. Cairns, St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, Pa. 17403; or Lutheran Social Services, 750 Kelly Drive, York, Pa. 17404.
CAIRNS Theola L. Carine Theola L. Carine, 3993 Esther Lane, Hermitage, died unexpectedly Monday morning (6-24-02) in her home of natural causes. She was 84. Obituary information was incomplete.
CARINE Mary Holmes Iffert Homemaker, volunteer was historical group member Mary Holmes Iffert, 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of Conneaut Lake Road, Sugar Grove Township, died at 5:45 p.m. Sunday (6-23-02) in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. She was 94. Mrs. Iffert was born March 22, 1908, in Sandy Lake Township to Fred and Grace Owens Holmes. An alumna of the former Penn High School in Greenville, she was a former volunteer at Meals-on-Wheels and St. Paul Gift Shop. Mrs. Iffert was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Greenville; and Greenville Area Historical Society. Her husband, Walter Iffert, whom she married Sept. 3, 1930, died May 26, 1981. Surviving are: two daughters, Nancy McMullan and Mrs. Jack (Shirley) McInturf, both Ada, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. W.F (Virginia) Kemp, Honolulu; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Iffert was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Georgine Hunt; and a granddaughter. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Homes, 339 E. Jamestown Road; or First United Methodist Church, 73 Clinton St., Box 185, both Greenville 16125.
IFFERT Olive Mae Vactor Retired nurse's aide formerly of Farrell had relatives here SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Olive Mae Vactor, Urbana, Ohio, formerly of Farrell, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, in Community Hospital. She was 91. Mrs. Vactor was born July 19, 1910, in Houston to Bud and Hattie McCarter Haywood. She attended Ellwood City schools and was retired from the former Mercer County Home as a nurse's aide. Mrs. Vactor belonged to Greater Morris Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Farrell; and was a charter member and past daughter ruler of Zylphia Temple 187, Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge of the World, Farrell. Her husband of 43 years, Charles B. Vactor, died in February 1981. She is survived by: her son, Carl B. Vactor and his wife Marcie; and grandsons Matthew Q., Andrew T. and Andre R. Vactor, all Urbana; nephews Richard Chavers and his wife Joyce, Dayton, Ohio; and the Rev. Robert E. Chavers and his wife Elizabeth, Farrell; a niece, Joan, wife of the Rev. Luke C. Collins, Bakersfield, Calif.; a special nephew, Vincent Chavers and his wife Barbara, Sharon; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vactor was a mother, as well as a sister and aunt, to many throughout the Shenango Valley community. Besides her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, Charles Lester Vactor; two grandchildren, Charles Lewis and Sandra Vactor; two sisters, Eddie Louise Chavers and Maxine M. Pulliam; a brother, Doc Sims; and two nephews, Jimmy Dungee and William Davis.
