Helen Louise Krieger Former Sharon resident was Temple Beth Israel member YORK, Pa. -- A funeral service will be held Monday for Helen Louise Krieger, a resident of Manor Care Center, York, and formerly of 589 Boyd Drive, Sharon. She died at 3:50 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2002, in Manor Care Center. She was 73. Mrs. Krieger was born April 12, 1929, in Youngstown to Myron A. Smith and Celia Cutler Smith. She was a 1947 graduate of Rayen School in Youngstown. Mrs. Krieger was a member of Temple Beth Israel in Sharon and the temple's Sisterhood. Her husband, Arthur E. Krieger, whom she married June 17, 1951, died March 19, 1996. Surviving are: two sons, Dr. Steven M. Krieger, York; and Robert Allan Krieger, Fanwood, N.J.; a sister, Lois Gage, Fort Washington, Pa.; and four grandsons. Besides her husband, Mrs. Krieger was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother, Stanley Smith. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer County unit of American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Avenue, Sharon, Pa. 16146.
KRIEGER Margaret Marie Whiteko Poldy Retired restaurant worker was WWII-era machinist A funeral service will be held Monday for Margaret Marie Whiteko Poldy, 57 Crestview Drive Extension, Transfer. She died at 7:47 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 80. Mrs. Poldy was born June 30, 1921, in LaBelle, Pa., to Joseph Vojtko and Frances Basista Vojtko. She attended schools in Brownsville, Pa. During World War II, she was employed as a machinist at the former Carnegie Steel, Sharon, to "do her part" for the war effort. Mrs. Poldy retired in 1984 with 26 years of service from the former Howard Johnson's in Hermitage. She enjoyed flower gardening, as well as cooking for "her boys." Her life was her family. Her husband, George Poldy, whom she married July 8, 1939, died March 30, 1987. Surviving are: four sons, Donald E. Poldy, Vienna, Va.; Paul Poldy, Sharpsville; Frank Poldy, Centerville, Ohio; and Mark Allen Poldy, Transfer; one sister, Pauline Kollar, Masury; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Poldy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Whiteko; and two sisters, Helen Komacek and Agnes Bochna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Transfer Volunteer Fire Department, Transfer 16154.
POLDY Michael 'Mickey' Smith WM grad, Army vet achieved 'Master Salesperson' status EL PASO, Texas -- Michael "Mickey" Smith, Master Salesperson at Rudolph Chevrolet, El Paso, formerly of Pulaski, died about 7 a.m. Monday morning, June 3, 2002, in his home of cancer. He was 59. Mike was born Jan. 31, 1943, in Sharon. He graduated from West Middlesex High School in 1960. He served for three years in the U.S. Army before relocating to El Paso. Mike began his career in El Paso as a life insurance salesman for American Mutual Life Insurance Co. He also owned several businesses in the El Paso area. For the past 14 years, Mike worked for Rudolph Chevrolet, where he achieved the status of Master Salesperson and received the Mark of Excellence. Mike was a member of St. Raphael's Church, El Paso. Mike is survived by: his wife, Irma Smith, to whom he was married about 15 years; and their four children, John, Scott, Ryan and Karen Smith, all at home in El Paso; two sons, Michael and Timothy Smith, both Daytona Beach, Fla.; a brother, John D. Baumgartner, West Middlesex; a sister, Paulette Baumgartner; and the deceased's father, John Baumgartner, both Pulaski; and a sister, Kathleen Buskirk, Hermitage. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Carbarry Baumgartner; and his first wife, Nancy Howsare Smith of West Middlesex.
