David A. Bair David A. Bair, 2383 Downing Lane, Hermitage, died at 3:10 a.m. today (7-9-02) in his home. He was 69. Obituary information was incomplete.
BAIR Frances D. Songer Sharon native of Indiana had family in Shenango Valley MUNCIE, Ind. -- Frances D. Songer, formerly of Sharon and Muncie, died Sunday afternoon (7-7-02) in Liberty Village. She was 81. Mrs. Songer was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Sharon to John and Julie Ratz Dick. She attended school in Pennsylvania and came to Muncie in 1961. She was employed by Muncie Community Schools and provided child care for children in her neighborhood. Mrs. Songer was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Muncie, and its Altar and Rosary Society; Women of the Moose, Muncie; and was a volunteer for RSVP. Surviving are: her husband, Albert Songer, to whom she had been married for 53 years; four daughters, Stephanie Satterwhite, Denton, Texas; Barbara Cortese and her husband Bernard, Haddon Heights, N.J.; Mary Griffin and her husband John, Littleton, Colo.; and Christine Wegner and her husband Steve, Novato, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Stephen Satterwhite, Cambria Darbison and her husband Kevin, Michael Cortese, Benjamin Cortese, Joshua Griffin, Megan Griffin, Jason Griffin, McCoy Wegner, Jackson Wegner, Hunter Wegner and McKenzie Wegner; four sisters, Julia Roman, The Woodlands, Texas; Nora McKnight, Hermitage; Alma Benedict and her husband Andrew, Albuquerque, N.M.; and Florence Pleban and her husband Leonard, Sharon; her brother-in-law, Louis Kovacs and his wife Estella, Sharpsville; her sister-in-law, Anne Goral, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Lawrence Catholic School Scholarship Fund, 2801 E. 16th St., Muncie, Ind. 47302.
SONGER Gordon T. 'Cobb' Lewis Valley Mold retiree belonged to Sharpsville First Baptist A funeral service will be held Wednesday for Gordon T. "Cobb" Lewis, 304 S. 3rd St., Sharpsville. He died of natural causes at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 71. Mr. Lewis was born March 5, 1931, in Sharon to William Lewis and Anna Pryde Lewis. A graduate of Sharpsville High School Class of 1949, he retired in 1991 after 31 years of service from the former Valley Mold and Iron Corp. in Hubbard Township, where he worked in the ingot mold department. Mr. Lewis was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Sharpsville. He was an avid golfer and loved camping with his family as well as boating. Surviving are: his wife, the former Carolyn J. McGinnis, whom he married Aug. 8, 1966, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Maria) Bukovinsky, Transfer; and Tina Lewis, at home; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Marion) MacKinnon, Ocean City, N.J.; two grandchildren, Bradley and Brandon Bukovinsky; three nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and -nephews. Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents.
LEWIS James J. Duncan Longtime MHS music teacher was church organist YOUNGSTOWN -- James J. Duncan of Manchester Avenue in Youngstown, died unexpectedly Sunday morning (7-7-02) in his home. He was 70. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Duncan was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Painesville, Ohio, a son of James Jesse and Florence Leona Louth Duncan. He came to Youngstown from Mercer in 1992. He was a 1949 graduate of Harvey High School in Painesville and was a graduate of Oberlin (Ohio) Conservatory of Music, earning his bachelor's degree in 1953 and his master's degree in 1958. Mr. Duncan was the choral director and general music teacher at Mercer High School from 1959 to 1981. Prior to that he taught music in Koday Kanal, South India and in Florida. Mr. Duncan was the organist and choir director at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church in Youngstown since 1993, and also served as organist at St. Stephen of Hungary Church in Youngstown; Mercer United Methodist Church; and Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Mercer. He was an accomplished pianist and string bass player. He leaves: his wife, Patricia A. Jendre Cobey; a stepdaughter, Maggie Cobey, Youngstown; a half brother, Bion Wayne Duncan; several nieces and nephews; his dog, Cruz; and his cats, Mickey and Indy. His parents and a half brother, Howard Earl Wheelock, are deceased.
DUNCAN Mark A. 'Teck' 'Tee Tee' Showman Jefferson Twp. man was PennDOT truck driver Mark A. "Teck" "Tee Tee" Showman, 121 Charleston Road, Jefferson Township, died at 7:38 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after a short illness. He was 47. Mr. Showman was born April 2, 1955, in Pennsylvania to Ralph Showman and Bonnie Thompson Showman. A graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, he was a truck driver for 24 years for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Mr. Showman was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are: a brother, David Showman, Burghill; and two half brothers, Billy Joe Showman, Warren, Ohio; and John Showman, Florida. Mr. Showman was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146.
