Robert H. Chase 1958 Sharpsville High grad was active in Boy Scouts A funeral service will be held Saturday for Robert H. Chase, White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township, formerly of Sharpsville. He died at 5:25 p.m. July 17, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after a brief illness. He was 62. Mr. Chase was born July 17, 1940, in Sharon to Dana H. Chase and Thelma A. McDowell Chase. The 1958 Sharpsville High School alumnus was active in Boy Scouts in Mercer. Mr. Chase enjoyed watching racing. Surviving are: two sons, Brian Chase and Shawn Chase; his mother, Liberty Township, Trumbull County; one sister, Mrs. Harry (Jean) McBride, Brookfield; one uncle, Elmer McDowell; and one nephew, Ray J. Rice III. He was preceded in death by his father. CHASE WWII vet, St. Joe's member was manager for Bolotin's Larry J. Houlihan, 3000 Lakewood Drive, Hermitage, died at 12:12 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. Mr. Houlihan was born in Canonsburg, Pa., to Lawrence J. Houlihan and Sara Rodgers Houlihan. He graduated from Canonsburg High School and then from Syracuse University in New York, where he earned a degree in civil engineering. For 33 years, Mr. Houlihan was the operational manager for Bolotin's furniture store in Hermitage. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sharon and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Surviving are: his wife, the former Margaret Loney, at home, whom he married Sept. 16, 1972; two sons, Michael J. and his wife Sue Houlihan, Cleveland; and David L. and his wife Karen Houlihan, Canonsburg; one sister, Eileen Rudge, also Canonsburg; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Houlihan was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Romaine Fleming.
Retired school maintenance supervisor served in church Clarence William King of 1049 Biscayne Drive, Hermitage, died of natural causes at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. He was 74. He was the husband of Shirley Richardson King, whom he married June 16, 1951. She survives. Born on Thursday, July 5, 1928, in Fredonia, Mr. King was a son of the late James and Minta Mae McCormick King. He had worked as a maintenance supervisor at Mercer area schools for 16 years, retiring in 1990. He also was a certified locksmith. Mr. King attended Fredonia area schools. He was a member of Community of Christ Church in Sharon, where he had been a youth group leader. He was a very devoted family man who enjoyed golfing, walking and music. In addition to his wife, Mr. King is survived by: a daughter, Andrea Lynn, wife of Richard Wright, Urbandale, Iowa; a son, Clarence Eugene, husband of Debra King, Berlin, Conn.; a son, William Alan, husband of Sharon King, St. Augustine, Fla.; a son, Charles Brian King, Hermitage; a granddaughter, Jenifer Wright; and a grandson, Richard Wright, both Urbandale; two granddaughters, Brittany King and Lauryn King, both St. Augustine; a sister, Betty Ellis, Mercer; a brother, Frank, husband of Jane King, Greenville; and a brother, Leland, husband of Mary Lou King, Fredonia. Besides his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Earl, George and Edward King; and three sisters, Henrietta Uber, Virginia Gartz and Evalina Harrison. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Youngstown Chapter, 3736 Boardman-Canfield Road, Canfield, Ohio 44406-0321. KING GC native, Cooper Energy retiree had relatives here COLUMBUS, Ohio -- L. Vaughn Graham of Mount Vernon, Ohio, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, July 17, 2002, in Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was 71. Vaughn was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Grove City and was a graduate of Grove City College with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He had been employed as a metallurgist by the former Cooper Energy Services Reciprocating Products in Grove City and in Mount Vernon for 43 years, retiring in 1996. He had served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Vaughn was an active member of the Brandon (Ohio) United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous boards and was currently chairman of the finance committee. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Mount Zion Lodge 9, Mount Vernon; Valley of Columbus Scottish Rites; and Order of the Eastern Star Columbia Chapter 33, Sunbury, Ohio. Surviving are: his wife, the former Mitzi Mears, whom he married Sept. 20, 1958; his son, Greg Graham and his wife Joyce, Mount Vernon; his daughter, Lauren "Laurie" Graham, Mount Vernon; a stepgranddaughter, Candice Hillyer and her husband John; a stepgreat-grandson, Elijah Hillyer; his mother, Bessie Meyer Graham, Grove City; his brother, Ronald "Chip" Graham and his wife Roberta, Grove City; his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Curry, Grove City; two uncles, Bud Meyer and his wife Charlotte, Dublin, Ohio; and Jack Meyer and his wife Aradell, Largo, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard C. Graham; and a nephew, Scott Curry.
GRAHAM Charles Havard Hans CLERMONT, Ga. -- Charles Havard Hans, Clermont, Ga., formerly of Hermitage, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday (7-18-02) in Georgia following an extended illness. He was 81. Obituary information was incomplete.

WWII Navy vet of Farrell was National Castings retiree Timothy "Tim" S. Martin, 915 Spearman Ave., Farrell, passed away Thursday morning (7-18-02) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 80. Mr. Martin was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Anderson, S.C., to William Martin and Maggie Haskell Martin. He retired in 1981 from the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp. in Sharon, where he was a longtime worker. Mr. Martin was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Farrell. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II and belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars New Murray Bell Post 7597 in Farrell. Surviving are: his wife, the former Inez Thompson, whom he married May 19, 1943, at home; two daughters, Catherine Sanders, at home; and Betty J., wife of Emanuel Moore Sr., Farrell; four sisters, Nancy Brown and Lottie Robinson, both Baltimore; Katherine Williams, Florida; and Evelyn Martin, Sharon; three grandchildren, Mrs. Tyrone (Pamela) Lampkins, Sharon; and Emanuel Moore Jr. and Brittany Moore, both Farrell; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Former Stoneboro man retired from Navy, Spang TUCUMCARI, N.M. -- Robert W. McGuire, Tucumcari, formerly of Stoneboro, died Monday, July 8, 2002, in Tucumcari after an extended illness. He was 77. Mr. McGuire was born June 7, 1925, in Worth Township to Lamont and Anna Marie Greer McGuire. He attended the former Stoneboro High School. After leaving high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He made the Navy his career and retired in 1964 after 20 years of service. Upon returning home, he worked for Spang Industries of Sandy Lake, retiring in 1985 after 18 years of service.
He married Carmen Diaz in June 1961. She survives in Mercer.
