Today's obituaries Terence Charles Ogden Columbus, Ohio, man had sisters living in Sharon Terence Charles Ogden, Columbus, Ohio, died Saturday (7-20-02) in Columbus Rehabilitation and Subacute Institute. He was 79. Mr. Ogden was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Columbus, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He is survived by his wife, Marian; six sons and daughters-in-law, Terence and Lorene Ogden, Carrollton, Texas; Christopher and Janet Ogden, Columbus; Mark and Tina Ogden; William and Kathleen Ogden; James and Margie Ogden; and David and Julie Ogden; two daughters, Lynne Harrison and Michelle Ogden, both Loveland, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Ione Maher and Betty Garlock, both Sharon, and Helen Wiesen, Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice at Riverside and Grant Hospital, 3535 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43214-3998.
OGDEN Ruth T. Pryde Former buyer for Strouss also worked at Sharon Store Ruth T. Pryde, Cordia Commons at the Shenango Inn, 1330 Kimberly Road, Sharon, formerly of 495 Clarksville Road, Hermitage, died of natural causes Saturday, July 20, 2002, in the nursing home after a brief illness. She was 91. She was the widow of Harold D. Pryde. Mr. Pryde died April 9, 2002. Born Friday, Jan. 27, 1911, in Clark, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Minerva Davis Taylor. She had worked as a buyer in the cosmetics department of the former Strouss Store, Youngstown. Mrs. Pryde also worked at the former Sharon Store in Sharon and in Erie at Erie Dry Goods. She was a 1929 graduate of Sharpsville High School. Several nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Taylor; and one sister, Mary Burke.

Gladys D. Procki Farrell woman was active in Holy Trinity Gladys D. Procki, Farrell, died at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 71. Mrs. Procki was born March 14, 1931, in Sharon to Fred J. and Helen Wargo Segaty. The 1949 Sharon High School alumna was a wiring assembler at what was Packard Electric Systems, Warren, Ohio. Mrs. Procki was very active in social affairs at Holy Trinity Church, Farrell, where she was a member and volunteered many hours in the Social Center's kitchen. She also was a member of the church's Altar Society. Her husband, Isadore "Ivan" Procki, whom she married May 17, 1986, died July 22, 1995. Surviving are: two sisters, Mrs. William (Suzanne) Bence, Stoneboro; and Gloria Gessner, Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Segaty, Sandy Lake; and Ann Rochric, Pittsburgh; and nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Segaty and Edmund Segaty. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Church, 1126 Fruit Ave., Farrell 16121. Donald Reed 'Donnie' Lukacs NEW BEDFORD, Pa. -- Donald Reed "Donnie" Lukacs, Oak at Evergreen Road, New Bedford, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday (7-20-02) following surgery in Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. He was 5 years old. Donald was born July 1, 1997, in New Castle, to Donald Duane an Cheryl Ann Hesidenz Lukacs. Donnie was in the Head Start program at Villa Maria in Bedford and also attended and enjoyed the Bible school program in New Bedford Presbyterian Church. His life was dedicated to our Lord at Mercer Church of the Nazarene, Coolspring Township. Surviving are: his parents, New Bedford; and grandparents, Shirley McNeish Hesidenz, New Bedford; and David and Shirley Gibson Lukacs, Mercer. LUKACS Thomas Merat Thomas Merat, formerly of 267 McClure Ave., Sharon, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Sunday (7-21-02) in Autumn Hills Nursing Homes, Niles, Ohio, after an extended illness. He was 74.

A. Mildred Kapusta Homemaker, Holy Trinity member retired from Isaly's Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2002, for A. Mildred Kapusta of 345 Crawford Drive, Hermitage. She passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 20, 2002. She was 83. Born Feb. 14, 1919, in Johnstown, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Hoyney Noga. Moving to the Patagonia section of Hermitage as an infant, she attended Hickory schools. Mildred retired in 1977 from the former Isaly's Dairy on East State Street in Sharon. She had previously been employed at the former Homestead Dairy on Sharpsville Avenue and the former Sharon Hardware Manufacturing Co. on Budd Street, both Sharon. A homemaker, she was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage. A devoted wife and mother, she leaves her husband Joseph J. Kapusta, whom she married June 27, 1942, at the former Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Farrell. Mildred and her husband celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month. In addition, she leaves three sons, Joseph P. Kapusta and his wife, Sharon; and William D. Kapusta and his wife, Cynthia, all Hermitage; and Gary A. Kapusta and his wife, Lauri, Reading, Pa.; two sisters, Helen Chlpka and Mary Sobey, both Hermitage; two brothers, Joseph Noga and his wife Mary; and John Noga and his wife, Margaret, all Hermitage; and eight grandchildren, Vincent and Courtney Trenga and Joey, Jason, David, Christina, Andrew and Garrett Kapusta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Donald Edward Kapusta; three sisters, Anna Kapusta, Pauline Batcher and Margaret Noga; and one infant brother, Peter Noga. KAPUSTA Mary Burke Westinghouse retiree was Fatima church member Funeral Mass will be Tuesday (7-23-02) for Mary Burke of 2114 Carolyn St., Hermitage. She passed away at 8 a.m. Sunday (7-21-02) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 85. Born Dec. 18, 1916, in Hickory Township (now known as Hermitage), she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Tabaka Fabian. Mary was a lifelong area resident and attended Hickory schools in Hermitage. She retired in 1978 as a coil winder from the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corp., where she had been employed 36 years. Mrs. Burke was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell; and Westinghouse Retirees' Association. She enjoyed walking and visiting with her family. Her husband, Robert Taylor Burke, whom she married June 28, 1943, preceded her in death July 14, 1968. Mary, affectionately known as "Aunt Kate," is survived by one brother, John Fabian and his wife, Elizabeth, Sharon; nephews John, Gregory, Raymond and twins Richard and Ronald Fabian; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Helen White; one brother, Michael Fabian and one nephew, William L. White. BURKE Helen V. Basham Pine Twp. woman served in Mount Olive Baptist Church Helen V. Basham, of 13 Oak Hill Drive Ext., Pine Township, died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday (7-20-02) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a two-week illness. She was 77. She was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Martinsville, Va., to Pannell Valentine and Kisiah Dotson. A member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Pine Township, since 1961, Mrs. Basham was a former Sunday school teacher for 23 years and a former trustee. She was Sunday school superintendent from 1972 to 1984, deaconess, and president of Missionary Group since 1982. From 1985 to 2000 she served on the Mercer County Welfare Board. She was also a member of the Friends of Grove City Community Library. Surviving are her husband, Herbert W. Basham, whom she married Nov. 29, 1952; two children, Joyce Basham, Grove City; and Herbert Basham and his wife Terri, Boardman, Ohio; and two stepgrandchildren, Michelle Sinkus, Boardman; and Bryan Sinkus and his wife Tonya, California City, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence and Kaiser Valentine; and three sisters, Florence Mitchell, Mildred Smith and Mary Long. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church.
BASHAM Virginia Mae Richards Grace U.M. member worked for dentists, had lived in GC Virginia Mae "Janie" Richards, of 701 Monroe St., Edinboro, formerly of Lincoln Ave., Grove City, died at 3:25 p.m. Sunday (7-21-02) in Edinboro Manor, Edinboro, after a three-month illness. She was 84. Mrs. Richards was born Jan. 27, 1918, in Grove City to Ernest Robert McGill and Edna Mary Smith. On Jan. 14, 1946, she married William Carl "Rip" Richards, who died in 1980. She was a receptionist for dentist Dr. George A. Smith for nine years. She was formerly employed with dentists Drs. William and Robert Berger for five years at Bashline Rossman Hospital for three years and as a clerk at DeFrance Drug Store from 1939 to 1941. Mrs. Richards was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City; and a graduate of Grove City High School and Youngstown Business College. Surviving are a daughter, Cathy M. Whitcomb and her husband, George, Sandy Lake; two sons, Jeffrey R. Richards and his wife Peggy; and William "Bill" Richards, all Edinboro. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. Cornelius and Robert Andrew Cornelius. RICHARDS Mildred Elizabeth Cokeane Homemaker was longtime Amity Presbyterian member Mildred Elizabeth Cokeane, of 705 Tidball Ave., Grove City, formerly of Scrubgrass Road, Worth Township, died at 6:23 a.m. Sunday (7-21-02) in Grove Manor, Grove City, after an extended illness. She was 86. Mrs. Cokeane was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Worth Township to Willis Harry McClellan and Daisy Della Glenn. She married Roy V. Cokeane on Sept. 2, 1936. He died Feb. 22, 1980. A homemaker, Mrs. Cokeane was employed during World War II at Cooper Bessemer Co. of Grove City. She was a longtime member of Amity Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years and enjoyed cooking, her church and her extended family. Mrs. Cokeane was a graduate of Grove City High School and a former Sunday school teacher. Surviving is one son, Jerry L. Cokeane, Dover, Del.; and seven nieces and nephews, Mrs. Donna D'Amore, Butler; Mrs. Harry (Doris Jean) Pryor, Grove City; William Buckley and his wife Jean, Grove City; Bruce McClellan and his wife Margaret, Jackson Center; Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Montgomery, Grove City; Mrs. James (Joyce) Cuffia, Zelienople; and Mrs. Joseph (Sue) Paxton, Grove City. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Roland McClelland; and two sisters, Marjorie Buckley and infant Evelyn McClellan.
COKEANE Mary Tomko Vanetti Lifelong Sharon resident owned beauty salon Mary Tomko Vanetti of 1003 Haig St., Sharon, passed away peacefully at 2:50 a.m. Sunday (7-21-02) in Cordia Commons at the Shenango Inn, Sharon. She was 78. Born Nov. 8, 1923 in Sharon, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Susan Ocenas Tomko. A lifelong resident, Mrs. Vanetti attended Sharon schools. She owned and operated Vanetti Beauty Salon in Sharon for more than 30 years. Mary was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon. An avid bowler, she was a member of the Thursday Evening Ladies Bowling League at Sunset Lanes, Farrell. A devoted grandmother, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren's athletic and scholastic events. Her husband, Peter "Pat" Vanetti, whom she married Jan. 12, 1946, in Sts. Peter and Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, preceded her in death Feb. 9, 1959, at the age of 36. A very loving and devoted mother, she leaves two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Jo Kaluzne, wife of Dr. Stephen Kaluzne, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Mrs. Susan Dawn Ream, wife of Les Ream, Hermitage; five grandchildren, Stephen Patrick, twins Nicole and Lauren Kaluzne, and Christopher (Kiffer) and Garen Ream; three sisters, Mrs. Susan Dyll, wife of John Dyll, Sharon; Mrs. Anne Colt, wife of Anthony "Ed" Colt, Hermitage; and Mrs. Dorothy Dutka, wife of James Dutka, West Lake, Ohio; three brothers, Michael Tomko and his wife Betty, Hermitage; Andrew Tomko and his wife Pat, Hermitage; and Rudy Tomko and his wife Jean, Anderson, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Tomko, Hermitage; and Gloria Tomko, Sharon; and several nieces and nephews and godchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Edward "Muchie" and Paul Tomko; and one sister-in-law, Helen Tomko.
