WHITMAN Gary L. Klingensmith Gary L. Klingensmith, 417 Russell St., Sharon, died unexpectedly at 11:50 a.m. Sunday (7-28-02) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after being stricken with an apparent heart attack at home. He was 50. Obituary information was incomplete.
KLINGENSMITH William F. Mansell William F. Mansell, 3515 Pheasant Chase, Hermitage, died unexpectedly at 6 p.m. Sunday (7-28-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 73. Obituary information was incomplete.
MANSELL Mary J. Schlicht Morgan Erie woman, retired operator, was native of Grove City SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, ERIE COUNTY -- Mary J. Schlicht Morgan, Summit Township, died at 7:50 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002, in her residence. She was 73. Mrs. Morgan was born Aug. 1, 1928, in Grove City, a daughter of the late Chester J. and Dorothy P. McGinty Schlicht. She had resided in the Erie area for most of her life. Mrs. Morgan was employed by the former Bell and General Telephone companies as a telephone operator. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Erie and also belonged to the Sunshine Group for more than 25 years. Mrs. Morgan enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watercolor painting. Survivors include: her husband of 52 years, Carl J. Morgan; one son, Hugh Carl Morgan, Summit Township; and two grandchildren. Six sisters and several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents, Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by one son, Mark Joseph Morgan; one sister, Eleanor Mershimer; and two brothers, Edward and C. Stephen Schlicht. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunshine Group in care of 9880 Peach St., Waterford, PA 16441.
MORGAN Linda Ann Kerr Hupp Former nurse's aide had sisters in Transfer, Pulaski Linda Ann Kerr Hupp, RD 3, Chapin Road, Neshannock Township, Lawrence County, died at 11:10 a.m. Sunday (7-28-02) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an extended illness. She was 52. Mrs. Hupp was born Dec. 22, 1949, in New Castle to Vernon Lester and Geraldine Rodgers Kerr. She was employed before her illness as a nurse's aide at Lawrence County Home, New Castle. Mrs. Hupp was a member of Shenango United Presbyterian Church, New Castle. Her husband, William Hupp, preceded her in death. Surviving are: her parents, RD 3, New Castle; and three sisters, Karen Levine, Pittsburgh; Margaret Kerr, Transfer; and Janet Kerr, Pulaski.
HUPP James M. Robich Bell South general manager was born in Sharon WINCHESTER, Mass. -- James M. Robich, Winchester, formerly of Sharon, died of Sepsis at 4 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, in Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. He was 50. Mr. Robich was born April 3, 1952, in Sharon to Edward and Norma Trobentar Robich. He was a general manager in the communications industry with Bell South in Waltham, Mass. He was the beloved husband of the former Leslie A. DiLoreto; loving father of Rachel K. Robich, Winchester; brother of Dennis E., Lincolnshire, Ill.; and Thomas N. of Wexford, Pa.; and son-in-law of Nicholas M. and Barbara DiLoreto of Melrose, Mass. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, NY 10605.
ROBICH Victoria Bale Reebel Retired LPN worked_at Shenango home NEW CASTLE -- Victoria Bale Reebel, 134 N. Mercer St., New Castle, died Saturday morning, July 27, 2002, in Indian Creek Nursing Center, New Castle. She was 77. Mrs. Reebel was born Dec. 19, 1924, in Farrell to James Bale and Elizabeth Oprean Bale. She retired as a licensed practical nurse for both Silver Oaks Nursing Center, New Castle; and Shenango Presbyterian Home, New Wilmington. As a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in New Castle, Mrs. Reebel belonged to the Women's Missionary Society. Her husband, William D. Reebel, whom she married Sept. 20, 1975, died June 25, 1990. Surviving are: a daughter, Evelyn Boots, Mount Jackson, Pa.; a son, Randall Doughtery, Beaver Falls, Pa.; a sister, Nellie Carley, Farrell; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Besides her husband, Mrs. Reebel was preceded in death by her parents.
REEBEL Anna K. Yensick Masury woman repaired clocks for Farrell jeweler Anna K. Yensick, 8181 Lorain St., Masury, died of natural causes at 5:21 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 89. Mrs. Yensick was born June 24, 1913, in Sharon to Charles Kolegar and Mary Goreno Kolegar. She attended Hickory schools and retired in 1961 after 25 years in clock repair at the former Horton's Jewelry in Farrell. Mrs. Yensick was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage. Her husband, George Yensick, whom she married in July of 1941, died in August 1969. Surviving are: several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Bea Lattyak, Peco Rivera, Calif.; and Christina Brunner, Indianapolis, Ind.; and a brother, Frank Speck, Hermitage. Besides her husband, Mrs. Yensick was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Jenny Filipovich, Mary Doerre and Sophie Henderson.
YENSICK George Donald Barr Sr. Sandy Lake man worked for utility company, PennDOT George Donald Barr Sr., 3308 N. Main St., Apartment 3, Sandy Lake, died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, following an extended illness. He was 73. Mr. Barr was born Dec. 30, 1928, in Mercer to Clinton Barr and Sara Morford Barr. He most recently was employed by Mercer Gas and Water Co., for which he was a foreman for 12 years and a laborer the remainder of his working career. Mr. Barr also worked as a laborer for seven years for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was of the Protestant faith and served in the Merchant Marines. His former wife, Lois Perrine Barr, survives in Mercer. Also surviving are: a daughter, Audrey S. Ketcham, wife of Kenneth C., Sandy Lake; two sons, George Donald Barr Jr., Mercer; and David J. Barr, Sandy Lake; two sisters, Nellie Carlson, Jackson Township; and Anna Lewis, Stoneboro; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and three brothers.
BARR Sarah Virginia 'Bea' Peterson Former West Middlesex woman was WE retiree PITTSBURGH -- Sarah Virginia "Bea" Peterson, 112 Marwood Road, Cabot, Pa., formerly of West Middlesex, died unexpectedly at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2002, in UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. She was 84. Mrs. Peterson was born Dec. 9, 1917, in New Wilmington to Knud Holm and Flora Evans Holm. She retired in 1977 after 30 years from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where she was a coil winder. Mrs. Peterson belonged to Barnes (Pa.) United Methodist Church. Surviving are: her husband, Wayne Peterson, whom she married March 23, 1964, Cabot; a daughter, Nancy, wife of the Rev. Robert Foltz, Pittsburgh; a stepdaughter, Betty, wife of Larry Baker, Transfer; six grandchildren, Donald Sweitzer, Jamie Sweitzer, Tom Faber, Doug Faber, Draydon Foltz and Nelson Foltz; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Hans Holm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center, Main Street, Sheffield, PA 16347.
PETERSON Rita Nicoletta Berman New Castle native recently finished work on doctorate Rita Nicoletta Berman, 3836 Bainbridge Drive, Medina, Ohio, formerly of New Castle, died Friday evening (7-26-02) in Cleveland Metro Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 49. She was born Sept. 9, 1952, in New Castle, the daughter of Earl B. and Rose Chiapperino Farrar. She graduated from New Castle High School in 1970 and did her undergraduate studies at Youngstown State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in anthropology and a minor in counseling. She had recently finished her studies needed to receive her doctorate in counseling from Kent (Ohio) State University. She belonged to the American Psychology Association, American Counseling Association and Ohio Counseling Association. She loved the outdoors and riding horses. She is survived by her daughter, Erica R. Berman of Kent, Ohio; one son, Christopher B. Berman of Austintown, Ohio; and one brother, Joseph Farrar of New Castle. She was preceded in death by her parents.
BERMAN Ruth A. Hughes Hickory graduate was _noted speaker, volunteer Ruth A. Hughes of 11852 Oakmont Dr., Conneaut Lake, formerly of Brookfield, died at 6:25 p.m. Saturday at home following a long illness. She was 79. Mrs. Hughes was born in Dover, Ohio, on Oct. 26, 1922, a daughter of Robert M. and Lenore Alderman Templeton. She was a 1941 graduate of Hickory High School and received county and state awards for poetry readings along with state and national awards for essay writings and delivery. Mrs. Hughes was a former member of the First Baptist Church, Sharpsville; a member of Theta Ro; Sharon Junior Women's Club; former president of Brookfield and Sharon Parent Teacher's Associations; Brookfield Fireman's Auxiliary; a former member of the board of directors with the "Child Find of America"; and Sacred Heart Girl Scout and Brownie Leader. She received her 10-year pin as a volunteer with the American Red Cross as a driver and for helping at the blood bank, and was an active volunteer with the Brookfield Senior Citizens transportation van, working as dispatch, driver and fund raiser. Her husband, Joseph R. Hughes, whom she married July 16, 1941, died August 16, 1984. Surviving are: three daughters, Donna Fecik of Fort Myers, Florida, Janet Musoni of Meadville, and Patricia Piper of Conneaut Lake; six sisters, Esther Boyle of Conneaut Lake, Patricia Varkonda of Hermitage, Elinor Smith of Brookfield, Gladys Santelli and Mary Ellen Bennett, both of Sharpsville, and Joan Polkovitch of Sharon; three brothers, Paul Templeton of Conneaut Lake, Charles Templeton of Clarksville, and Perry Templeton of Sharpsville; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Phyllis Evans, and a brother, Robert "Rye" Templeton. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Ruth Hughes Memorial Garden.
HUGHES Donald Laverne Gills Marine Corps veteran _retired from Trinity Donald Laverne Gills, Perry Highway, Springfield Township, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday (7-28-02) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after an extended illness. He was 67. Mr. Gills was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Washington Township, Lawrence County, to Elman Edward and Tillie Bruckner Gills. He had worked for General American Transportation in Masury. Mr. Gills then worked until his retirement in 1999 for Trinity Industries-Greenville Rail Car Division, which made railroad cars. He was a member of Wayside Community Church, Findley Township. Mr. Gills served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean War. During his tour of duty, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the UN Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. Surviving are: his wife, the former Jane I. Ferry, whom he married Aug. 24, 1962, at home; one son, Kevin Edward and his wife, Amy, Volant; one daughter, Mrs. Bradley (Tina) Sterner, Springfield Township; one sister, Sally Wise, Grove City; two brothers, Jack Gills and his wife, Marge, Mercer; and his twin, Ronald Gills and his wife, Mary Ellen, Springfield Township; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Becky, Joey and Kevin. His parents preceded him in death.
