'60 GCHS graduate was secretary, East Main member

Judy Turner of College View Towers in Grove City, died Wednesday (8-7-02) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township. She was 60.

Miss Turner was born March 10, 1942, in Lancaster, Ohio, to Paul E. and Evelyn R. Turner.

A 1960 graduate of Grove City High School, she attended what is now Robert Morris University, Moon Township, Allegheny County. Miss Turner was a secretary for Carbis Walker and worked with her parents at The Trio, a popular card and gift shop.

She was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City; Business and Professional Women; and the Community TheaterTent-in-the-Park.

Surviving are seven cousins.

Miss Turner was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to East Main Presbyterian Church, 120 E. Main St., Grove City 16127.

Fred Joseph Grasinger

Pardoe man was retired

from Greenville Steel Car

Fred Joseph Grasinger, Grasinger Lane, Findley Township, in the community of Pardoe, died at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, following an extended illness. He was 87.

Mr. Grasinger was born June 12, 1915, in Pardoe, Findley Township, to Tressa Grasinger.

He retired in 1980 from the former Greenville Steel Car, later called Trinity Industries.

Mr. Grasinger was a former member of St. Hermeneguild Catholic Church in Pardoe and currently attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Mercer.

He was a former member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1637, Mercer; and the local United Mine Workers union.

Mr. Grasinger was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish.

His wife, the former Marie Ann Lizzie, whom he married June 24, 1944, survives at the residence in Pardoe.

Also surviving are: three daughters, Marty Grasinger, Struthers, Ohio; Kathie Moore, Mercer; and Mrs. Ronald (Karen) Shollenberger, Fredonia; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Edwin Byrl Giebner
'57 Sandy Lake graduate was PPG retiree, active sportsman

Edwin Byrl Giebner of 1041 Georgetown Road, Sandy Lake, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in Meadville Medical Center.

Mr. Giebner was born on Nov. 29, 1938, in Mill Creek Township, a son of Robert Byrl Giebner and Mary Margaret McCracken Giebner.

He married G. Joanne Slater on Nov. 23, 1963. She survives.

Mr. Giebner was a 1957 graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School.

He was the wareroom shift supervisor at PPG Industries in Greenwood Township, Crawford County, from 1972 until his retirement in 1998; and was previously employed at Channellock Inc., Meadville.

Mr. Giebner was an active member of Cochranton Sportsmen's Club, presently serving on the board of directors as vice president. He was also a member of Hadley Rod and Gun Club and American Legion James L. Steen Post 836 in Cochranton.

He served an enlistment with the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962.

Mr. Giebner was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and golfing. He cherished the times he spent with his grandson.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: his mother, Cochranton; two daughters, Doreen L. Giebner, Boyd, Wis.; and Jodi Lias and her husband Douglas, Lexington Park, Md.; two sisters, Shirley Devore and her husband Robert, Cochranton; and Barbara Slater and her husband Ira, Stoneboro; and a grandson, Braden James Lias.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 174 E. Bissell Ave., Oil City 16301; or Cochranton Sportsmen's Club, County Line Road, Cochranton 16314.
