Constance P. Almes Greenville homemaker_was native of Norwalk, Ohio Constance P. Almes, 125 College Ave., Greenville, died at 9:43 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 79. Mrs. Almes was born April 24, 1923, in Norwalk, Ohio, to William L. Parker and Nellie Cain Parker. She was a graduate of the former Penn High School in Greenville. A homemaker, Mrs. Almes enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the Protestant faith. Her husband, Carl E. Almes, whom she married Oct. 15, 1949, survives at home in Greenville. Also surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Becky) Copenhaver; and Deborah Almes, both Greenville; four grandchildren, Tammy Stilts, Mark Frazier, Timothy Swartz and Amanda Swartz; two great-grandchildren, Paige Stilts and Camden Frazier; and five nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Betty Brown and Jean Allen. Memorial contributions may be made to Strayhaven Inc., Box 464; or the Endowment Fund of St. Michael's School, 85 N. High St., both Greenville 16125.
ALMES Mario Gaspari Mario Gaspari, Hempfield Township, died of natural causes at 1:50 a.m. today (8-14-02) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. He was 82. Obituary information was incomplete.

Thelma Miller Former Meadville broker secretary had children here MEADVILLE -- Thelma Miller, Meadville, died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in Beverly Healthcare. She was 83. Mrs. Miller was born July 16, 1919, in Cambridge Springs, daughter of the late Elmer and Maude Meeks Shearer. She married Elmer L. Miller on Sept. 20, 1938. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1991. Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and attended Edinboro University, where she studied art. She worked as a broker secretary at Parker/Hunter Inc. in Meadville for 15 years. She was a board member of the Crawford County Humane Society and a volunteer with American Red Cross. Mrs. Miller enjoyed sewing, gardening, whitewater rafting and hot-air ballooning. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Meadville, where she served on various committees, ushered, and helped with funeral dinners. Survivors include: a daughter, Linda Goodwill and her husband, Duane, Sharon; two sons, Paul G. Miller, Hermitage; and Charles E. Miller, Saegertown; four grandchildren, Kimberly Grimm; and Darlene, David and Mark Miller; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vivian Shambaugh, Sun City, Ariz. Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road; or St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1070 Park Ave., both Meadville 16335.
MILLER Dora M. Pompili Sherwin Williams retiree_was lifelong Hubbard man LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, TRUMBULL COUNTY -- Dora M. Pompili of 126 W. Water St., Hubbard, passed away Tuesday afternoon (8-13-02) in Liberty Health Care Center. She was 82. Dora was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Hubbard, a daughter of Eugene and Raphael Scarpine Pompili. She was a lifelong Hubbard resident. Miss Pompili was a press operator for 32 years at Sherwin Williams former Hubbard plant, retiring in 1983. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church; Autawa Lodge; and the American Legion Auxiliary, all Hubbard. Miss Pompili leaves: five brothers, Eugene Pompili, Joseph Pompili and Edward Pompili, all Hubbard; Vince Pompili, Canfield, Ohio; and Paul Pompili, Niles, Ohio; and a sister, Lucille Hardin, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Pompili; and two sisters, Philomena Pompili and Antionette Foley.
POMPILI Evelyn L. Snyder Homemaker belonged _to West Middlesex Methodist Evelyn L. Snyder, 41 Hewitt Road, Shenango Township, died from hepatic failure at 9:42 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, in Shadyside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pittsburgh. She was 71. Mrs. Snyder was born Feb. 5, 1931, in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County, to Wilbur L. Sheesley and Nellie J. Crossman Sheesley. A homemaker, she was a member of United Methodist Church of West Middlesex. Her husband, Robert James Snyder, whom she married Jan. 3, 1949, died May 10, 1994. Surviving are: four daughters, Nancy Keso, Hermitage; Linda Snyder, Pittsburgh; Jamie Pair, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Janet Burnette, Aliquippa; two sons, Boyd Snyder, Sharon; and Robert J. Snyder Jr., West Middlesex; two sisters, Joyce Kerr, State College, Pa.; and Barbara Fisher, Hamilton, Pa.; three brothers, Byron, Charles and Robert Sheesley, all Punxsutawney, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents; and a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Marie Bisbey. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 59 N. Crescent Drive, Hermitage 16148.
SNYDER Irene Vasil Byzantine church member worked at Hills, Sears Irene Vasil, 3830 Holly Lane, Hermitage, died of natural causes at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, in her residence. She was 74. Mrs. Vasil was born April 20, 1928, in Pittsburgh to Andrei Kosty and Anna Kmety Kosty. A Hickory High School graduate, she worked for eight years at the former Hills department store in Hermitage, and previously was in sales for 12 years at Sears Roebuck & Co. Mrs. Vasil was a member and a money counter at St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hermitage. She also belonged to Morning Quilters Guild in New Wilmington. Surviving are: her husband, Michael Vasil, whom she married Jan. 11, 1958, at home; two sons, Michael J. Vasil and his wife Suzanne, Hermitage; and Daniel J. Vasil and his wife Kimberly, St. Charles, Ill.; a sister, Martha K. Shadley, Hermitage; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Kristiana, Karina and Kayleen Vasil; three nieces; and four nephews. Mrs. Vasil was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anne Kimball and Olga Brenick; and one brother, John Kosty.
