JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Esther E. Baker, Johnstown, formerly of 24th Street, Reynolds, died Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17, 2002, in Arbutus Park Manor. She was 83.

Born Nov. 8, 1918, in Beaver Falls, Pa., Mrs. Baker was a daughter of the late John Edward Horn and Mary Moegerle Horn.

Esther was the wife of a minister, doing what needed to be done, including playing the piano at services and moving when her husband received another call.

She formerly worked at Armstrong Cork in Beaver Falls; the accounting department at Altoona (Pa.) Hospital; and as a credit interviewer with Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Besides her parents, Esther was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Robert, Edward and Paul Horn; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Baker.

Esther is survived by: her husband, the Rev. Robert B. Baker, Arbutus Park Manor; a son, Robert L. Baker, West Middlesex; a daughter, Sherryl Kaye, wife of Ernest Stonebraker, Stow, Mass.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Elmer Horn, Beaver Falls.

    Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday (8-20-02) in Belmont United Methodist Church, Johnstown, with the Revs. David Evans and John Springer, officiating.
    Interment: Private in Sylvania Hills Memorial Cemetery, Rochester, Pa.


Willa Mae Phillips

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. -- Willa Mae Phillips, 11308 Meadow Ridge Lane, Jones, Okla., died at 2:40 a.m. today (8-19-02) in Colonial Manor Nursing Home. She was 83.
