in Ambridge

MOON TOWNSHIP, ALLEGHENY COUNTY -- Dorothy N. Fry of Ambridge, formerly of Greenville, died about 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, in Mariner Health Care. She was 79.

Mrs. Fry was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Greenville to the late Charles L. and Susie Green Quay.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey D. Fry, who died in 1990.

Surviving are: one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ray Bell, Ambridge; and two grandchildren, Susan Bell, Vail, Colo.; and Matthew Bell and his wife Robin Bell, Denver.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Quay and Geraldine Craven.

A private funeral service and interment was held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, in Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville.


Ronald L. Seibert
Former Sharon man's stepchildren live in area

VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Ronald L. Seibert of 9550 78th St., Vero Beach, formerly of Sharon, died at 3:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, in Holmes Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 68.

Mr. Seibert was born Dec. 30, 1933, in McKeesport to Louis Seibert and Margaret Thomas Seibert.

He had been a resident of Vero Beach for the past 10 years, moving there from Sharon.

Mr. Seibert was a conductor for Conrail for 18 years in Ohio and served from 1953 to 1957 in the U.S. Navy.

He was a volunteer for the Indian River County Civilian Sheriff Services in Vero Beach.

Mr. Seibert was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving are: his wife of nine years, the former Goldie Heim; two sons, Ronald Seibert, Madison, Ohio; and Robert Todd Seibert, Michigan; one daughter, Karen Sue Hinebaugh, Madison; two stepdaughters, Doris J. Logan and Susan K. Wheeler, both Hubbard; one stepson, Richard K. Dilley, Transfer; one brother, Robert Seibert, Sebastian, Fla.; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in Assumption Church in Geneva, Ohio.

At the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice in memory of Mr. Seibert.


D. Bruce McLaughlin
Oil company retiree, vet's daughter lives in GC

FRANKLIN -- D. Bruce McLaughlin, 1587 Allegheny Blvd., Reno, died at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, June 30, 2002, in the West Unit of UPMC Northwest. He was 68.

Mr. McLaughlin was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Reno to Ronald E. and Irma Coon McLaughlin.

An Army veteran, he served from Sept. 26, 1956, to Sept. 25, 1958, achieving a rank of private first class.

Mr. McLaughlin was employed for 33 years at Wolf's Head Oil Co., last working in the carpenter's shop until he retired in 1989.

He was a member of Reno United Methodist Church and recently attended Messiah Baptist Church, Route 417, north of Franklin.

Mr. McLaughlin was a life member of the American Legion James M. Henderson Post 32, Oil City. He also belonged to the Reno Volunteer Fire Department since 1951 and was a former member of the Reno Lions Club.

He also served on the board of the Harrisville Deer Hunter Association and Reno Cemetery Association; and belonged to the Antique Car Club of America.

Mr. McLaughlin enjoyed talking on his citizen's band radio, as well as fishing, camping, hunting, car racing, traveling and golf. He also enjoyed music and playing the organ.

His first wife, the former Helen M. Wice, whom he married Oct. 25, 1958, died Sept. 26, 1995.

His second wife, the former Sallie Mason Williams, whom he married Feb. 14, 1997, survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Angela Marie Webb, Grove City; two stepsons, Leslie Alan Myers, Reno; and Randy M. Myers, Franklin; three stepdaughters, Vicki Lane McCauley, Cherrytree, Venango County; Cynthia Lee Bowie, Colorado; and Elizabeth Ann Brown, Pittsburgh; a brother, Richard Elwood McLaughlin, husband of Barbara, Pauls Valley, Okla.; four grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Lee McLaughlin; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Reno Volunteer Fire Department; American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146; or Messiah Baptist Church, Route 417, Franklin 16323.

Calling hours were held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. July 3, with a funeral service at 1 p.m. July 5 in Oil City. The Rev. Larry Bell, pastor of Messiah Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was held in Reno Cemetery.


Barbara L. Dickson Johnson
Sharon High alumna

had siblings living here

RUSSELL, Pa. -- Barbara L. Dickson Johnson, RD 2, Russell, died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. She was 40.

Mrs. Johnson was born Dec. 3, 1961, in Sharon to Harold M. Dickson, Sharon; and the late Martha M. Deeal Dickson.

She lived for 11 years in Russell and was employed by Warren County School District for three years in the Beaty Middle School cafeteria.

Mrs. Johnson was a Sharon High School alumna.

Surviving besides her father are: her husband, Daniel C. Johnson, whom she married Dec. 12, 1990, in Russell; one son, Craig A. Johnson, at home; one stepson, Andrew Johnson, Warren; one stepdaughter, Laurie Johnson, Sinclairville, N.Y.; five brothers, Richard Dickson, Masury; Donald Dickson and William Dickson, both Hermitage; Carl Dickson, Sharon; and Charles Dickson, Chandlers Valley, Pa.; four sisters, Karen Dickson, Connie Schuster and Nancy Dickson, all Sharon; and Beverly Reed, Brockway, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Warren Unit, 213 Third Ave., Box 771, Warren, PA 16365.

Miles S. Snyder Jr.
Retired postmaster, served in 2 wars

Miles S. Snyder Jr., of 6834 Warren Sharon Road in Brookfield, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (8-25-02) in his residence. He was 75.

Mr. Snyder was born Aug. 1, 1927, in Sharon, a son of Miles S. Snyder Sr. and Edna L. Morris Snyder.

He was a 1945 graduate of Brookfield High School and had attended Kent (Ohio) State and Youngstown State universities. He also graduated from the American Television and Electrical School in Niles, Ohio.

Mr. Snyder served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a graduate of the Radar Operations School in San Diego. He served as a radar operator on the U.S.S. Easton during World War II and was recalled to active duty aboard the U.S.S. Myles C. Fox during the Korean conflict. Miles then served with the Naval Reserves for six years.

Mr. Snyder was appointed as postmaster for the U.S. Post Office in Brookfield in 1965 and retired from that position in 1987.

He attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Masury; and was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Rebekah Lodge, both in Sharpsville.

His wife, the former Frances Shanley, whom he married March 27, 1950, died Feb. 18, 1990.

Survivors include: a son, David Snyder and his wife Bonnie, Sharon; three daughters, Diane Stubrich, wife of the Rev. Thomas Stubrich, Masury; Kathleen Myers, Brookfield; and Cindy Beck, Sharon; a sister, Donna Benson, Brookfield; eight grandchildren, Sherry Drennen, David Snyder Jr., Lesli Snyder, Marie and Stephanie Stubrich, Jeff and Jennifer Myers and BethAnn Snyder; a great-granddaughter, Chasity Drennen; and a nephew, Greg Benson.

Stephen Ligette Jr., 1515 N. Keel Ridge Road, Hermitage, died at 12:35 p.m. Monday (8-26-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 79.

WIND RIVER, Wyo. -- Robert J. Boger, Denver, formerly of 815 River Road, Delaware Township, died Sunday (8-25-02) in a drowning accident on Bull Lake in Wind River. He was 23.
