Jeanne Roberta Hutley Ex-Sharon homemaker's sister lived in Mercer METAIRIE, La. -- A funeral service will be held Wednesday for Jeanne Roberta Hutley of 4705 Belle Drive, Metairie, formerly of Sharon. She died of natural causes at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, in East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie after an extended illness. She was 72. She was the former wife of the late William Hutley, who died in 1990. Born in New Castle on Sunday, Oct. 6, 1929, Mrs. Hutley was a daughter of the late Dean and Nelontine Marshall Collins. Jeanne loved to crochet. She was truly devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mrs. Hutley was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by: two daughters, Beverly, wife of Carl Hartzmann, Diamondhead, Miss.; and Kelli Su Oliver, Kenner, La.; a son, Dennis, husband of Kelly Hutley, River Ridge, La.; a son, Timothy Hutley, Metairie; and a sister, June Kirby, Mercer. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Besides her parents and William Hutley, Jeanne was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Swartz. HUTLEY Mattie Lou Cromartie Greater Mount Zion member was retired A funeral service will be held Friday for Mattie Lou Cromartie, 1014 Hamilton Ave., Farrell. She passed away at 10:28 p.m. Saturday (8-31-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 70. Mattie was born May 8, 1932, in Elizabethtown, N.C., to William Riggins and Minnie Belle Willis Riggins. She attended Elizabethtown schools and moved to the Shenango Valley in 1953. Mattie retired after several years of employment with the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant, where she was a security guard in the plant protection department. She was a member of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell. Surviving are: five daughters, Beverly Ann Ivey, at home; Lucinda McHenry, Detroit; Vera Willis, Charlotte, N.C.; Mrs. Bruce (Monnie Faye) Milligans, Fort Benning, Ga.; and Stephanie Brown, Leominster, Mass.; one son, Kenneth C. Cromartie and his wife Monica, Petersburg, Va.; and four sisters, Delores McDowell, wife of the Rev. Charles McDowell, Fayetteville, N.C.; Mary Lucas, Georgia; Mildred Hempfield, Johnstown, Pa.; and Geraldine Hicks, San Bernardino, Calif. Also surviving are: 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rodrick Cromartie; one daughter, Sandra Gail Bennett; two brothers, William Riggins II and Carl Hicks; and one grandson, Anthony D. Cromartie.
CROMARTIE Walter E. 'Hill Billy' Bounds Retired tube mill worker was Korean War vet Walter E. "Hill Billy" Bounds, 69 S. Summit Road, Lot 406, West Salem Township, died unexpectedly at 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in his home. He was 70. Mr. Bounds was born June 18, 1932, in Wheeling, W.Va., to Melvin Bounds and Eugenia Gasser Bounds. He attended Wheeling area schools and worked for Damascus-Bishop Tube of Transfer as a mill worker for 38 years. Mr. Bounds retired in 1994. He was of the Catholic faith. He served during the Korean conflict in the Navy, having worked on two submarines as a fireman, the U.S.S. Coral and the U.S.S. Bennington. Mr. Bounds was a past member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 276 in Greenville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, playing the organ and spending time at his hunting camp in Marienville, Pa. Surviving are: his wife, the former Shirley Rainey, whom he married Oct. 6, 1984, at home; two daughters, Cindy Cloud, Hartstown; and Lori Shirey, Greenville; a stepdaughter, Linda Zipay, Greenville; four stepsons, James Kantner Jr. and Daniel Kantner, both Greenville; Thomas Kantner, Sharpsville; and Gary Kantner, Fredonia; two sisters, Carol Kibe, Perryopolis, Pa.; and Lois Kibe, Florida; and three grandchildren, Talya Spatilson, North Carolina; Donell Cloud, Hartstown; and Zachary Shirey, Greenville. Mr. Bounds was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Rosemary I. Bounds. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 59 N. Crescent Drive, Hermitage 16148.
BOUNDS Jo Ann Jessica Lapham Accountant, goldsmith taught computers Jo Ann Jessica Lapham, 5177 Virginia Road, Hermitage, crossed over at 8:44 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in her home after a lengthy illness. She was 46. Mrs. Lapham was born Nov. 26, 1955, in Youngstown to Zane Rider and Jo Ann Jackson Rider of West Middlesex. She graduated in 1973 from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown. Self-employed for 21 years as a full agent notary public, Mrs. Lapham was an accountant, certified goldsmith and taught and repaired computers, all from her home. She was a member of Shenango Valley Baptist Church in Hermitage. Mrs. Lapham was also a licensed private pilot and enjoyed the mountains and skiing. She also enjoyed her four-legged companions, Rusty, Mickey, Missy, French Fri and Buddy, and donated money to animal shelters, as well as to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Her devoted husband, Gary Lapham, whom she married Jan. 25, 1975, survives at home. Surviving besides her parents and her husband are: a sister, Debbie Barrett, West Middlesex; three brothers, Zane Rider Jr., Farrell; Robert Rider, Mercer; and Jacob Rider, West Middlesex; her godfamily, David E. Cooper, David K. Cooper, Mallory Cooper and Stephanie Cooper; and a close personal friend, Dave Fuller. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice Home Care, 490 N. Kerrwood Drive, Suite 204, Hermitage 16148.
LAPHAM
Robert Rueberger Steel worker was Ukraine native Robert Rueberger, 1980 S. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, in his home after an extended illness. He was 63. Mr. Rueberger was born March 20, 1939, in Klosterdorf, Ukraine, to Peter Rueberger and Anna Maria Fuchs Rueberger. A graduate of Sharon High School Class of 1960, he was employed as a craneman at Caparo Steel in Farrell, and previously worked for 28 years as a craneman at the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant. Mr. Rueberger was a member of St. Anthony's Church in Sharon. He enjoyed gardening and golfing. His wife, the former Kathleen C. Sherman, whom he married July 14, 1962, survives at home. Also surviving are: one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Rosa) Schibli, Hermitage; two brothers, John Rueberger, Hermitage; and Alex Rueberger and his wife Carol, Sharpsville; and numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters. RUEBERGER Helen Sekerak Homemaker belonged to St. John's Orthodox A funeral service will be held Thursday for Helen Sekerak, a resident of The Overlook nursing home, New Wilmington, formerly of Mertz Towers, Sharpsville; and Hamilton Avenue, Farrell. She passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2002, in the hospital of Jameson Health System in New Castle after a long illness. She was 76. Born Sept. 1, 1926, in Farrell, Miss Sekerak was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Walko Sekerak. A 1944 graduate of Farrell High School, she was a homemaker who was a member of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in Sharon. Helen also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286 in Farrell. She was a sports enthusiast who particularly enjoyed baseball. Helen was a very devoted sister and aunt to her many nieces and nephews, serving as their babysitter on many occasions as they were growing up. Helen is survived by: one sister, Mrs. Herman (Mary) Pasci, Farrell; two nephews, Robert Pasci and his wife Fran; and Ken Pasci and his wife Nina, all Cleveland; three nieces, Jean Redmond, Sun City, Ariz.; Mrs. Jerry (Mary Kay) Brown, West Middlesex; and Mrs. Tom (Geri) Tulip, Hermitage; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. SEKERAK Marlowe W. Johnson Marlowe W. Johnson, 206 Lynwood Drive, Hempfield Township, died at 2:16 p.m. Monday (9-2-02) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 77. Obituary information was incomplete.
