William P. Goodrick
Past country club president was CPA, Sharon resident

William P. Goodrick, of 1647 Hannah Court, Sharon, passed away at 11:25 a.m. Saturday (9-14-02) in the hospital at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 86.

Mr. Goodrick was born April 3, 1916 in Sharon to James and Genevieve McCann Goodrick.

A lifelong Sharon resident, Bill attended St. Joseph parochial grade school and was a 1934 graduate of Sharon High School. He was a certified public accountant and was a former partner with what is now McGill, Power, Bell and Co., Hermitage, before retiring in the early 1980s.

Earlier in his life he was employed at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for four years and was secretary-treasurer at WPIC for three years.

He was also a member and past president of the Northwest Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute for Certified Public Accountants, a life member of the American Institute and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a former member of the Sharon Rotary Club.

A member of St. Joseph Church, Bill was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Sharon Council 684, and the Fourth Degree Sharon Assembly. He was an avid golfer and a former member of Sharon Country Club, where he held a 5 handicap. He was club champion on three different occasions. He was also a past president of the country club.

He was a former member of the Sharon Social Fishing Club at Lake Muskoka, Canada. On Sept. 7, 1940, in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, he married the former Dorothy "Dot" Baish, to whom was married to for more than 62 years.

Surviving are: his wife; two sons, Dr. James E. Goodrick "Ted" of San Bernadino, Calif., and Michael E. Goodrick "Mick" of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Marie Williams of Lubbock, Texas; a nephew, Bill Williams of Toledo, Ohio; a niece, Susan Luna of Lubbock, Texas; and several grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert M. Donley
Farrell man was Navy vet, retired truck driver

Robert M. Donley, of 2010 Madison St., Farrell, died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday (9-15-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 76.

Mr. Donley was born April 26, 1926, in New Castle to Edward and Cora Stillwagon Donley.

He married Stella Janusko on June 6, 1976.

Mr. Donley retired in 1988 from Carolina Freight Carriers as a truck driver.

He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex.

A Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Donley was a member of the Eagles Club in New Castle and the Farrell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286.

Surviving are: his wife, at home; and three brothers, Richard Donley of New Castle, Paul Donley of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, and Frank Donley of Ashboro, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Alice Irene Fulmer

Active church member

was Sunday school teacher

Alice Irene Fulmer, of 758 N. River Road, Pymatuning Township, died Sunday morning (9-15-02) at home following an extended illness. She was 67.

Mrs. Fulmer was born Nov. 5, 1934, in Greenville, to William and Florence (Durst) Cadman.

She married Robert L. Fulmer on April 3, 1954.

A homemaker, Alice loved her family, God and her church. She was a 50-year member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Fredonia, where she served on consistory as an elder and a deacon. Through Christian education, she served as a Sunday school teacher and assistant superintendent. She was past president, vice president and secretary of the Women's Guild and was a member of the choir. She also volunteered at the Good Shepherd Center in Greenville.

Surviving are: her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Gwen) Fulmer-O'Reilly and son Ray of Peoria, Ariz., and Mrs. William (Carrie) Fulmer-Kerola and son Bill of Transfer; a brother, Robert Cadman and wife Ina of Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Rev. George (Doris) Collins-Moore of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Frank (Marjorie) Meyer of New Hamburg; and four grandchildren, Ray, Billy, Kelly and John.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

James Paul Speer

Farmer was an active member of his church

James Paul Speer, of 30 Speer Road, New Wilmington, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday (9-14-02) in Jameson Health Center, New Castle. He was 80.

Mr. Speer was born Nov. 10, 1921 in East Lackawannock Township to Ulysses and Mary Elizabeth Reeher Speer.

He married Leona May Badger on Aug. 8, 1945.

Mr. Speer worked at Shenango Inc., Sharpsville, and was a former Lackawannock Township road supervisor. He enjoyed farming.

He attended Stonepile School and was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Delta.

Mr. Speer was a member of Hebron Lodge 575, the Free and Accepted Masons 575 of Mercer and Tall Cedars, formerly Grand Tall. He enjoyed poetry, was an avid reader of westerns and loved fishing, hunting and gardening.

He was an active life member of White Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are: his wife, at home; a daughter, Linda Lee Davis of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sons, Robert James Speer of New Wilmington, Alan "Lys" Ulysses Speer of New Wilmington and Kevin Lee Speer of Farrell; a sister, Ruby McConnell of New Wilmington; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Leola Williams.

Infant Chloe Danae Styles

Chloe Danae Styles, of 1157 Fruit Ave., Farrell, died at 1:10 p.m. Friday (9-13-02) in the hospital at Sharon Regional Health System. She was 10 months.

Chloe was born Oct. 25, 2001, in Farrell to Thomas Styles and Peggy Scott.

She was an honorary member of Be a Friend Always, the Quinby Street Resource Center, Sharon and Farrell Family Center.

Surviving are: her special cousins, Courtney Hampton, Lashaii Hadden, Ashley Scott and Kyra Banks; a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends; her parents, both of Farrell; two sisters, Tashan Whiteside of Farrell and Santell Styles of San Bernadino, Calif.; and three brothers, Thomas E. Styles III of San Bernadino and Jermell E. and Jarmall E. Styles, both of Erie.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Streater and Bessie Scott Sr. and paternal grandparents Thomas and Maggie Styles.

Infant DeAvion Coleman

Infant DeAvion Coleman, of 1150 Hamilton Ave., Farrell, died Friday (9-13-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System.

DeAvion was born Friday in Sharon to Davia Coleman.

Surviving are: two brothers, DeShawn and DeAndre Coleman, at home; his grandmother, Donna Grannison of Farrell; his grandfather, David Coleman of Oregon; his great-grandparents, Robert and Hester Grannison of Sharon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

DeAvion was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents and an uncle, Al Moore.

Grace A. Proud Vath

Homemaker was in charge of roses at greenhouse

Grace A. Proud Vath, of 1482 Hendersonville Road, Sandy Lake, died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday (9-14-02) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township, after an extended illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Vath was born March 18, 1914 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, to Gomer and Sarah (Harrison) Jenkins.

She attended the former Yankee Country School in Sandy Lake Township. She was a homemaker and loved to spend time with her family.

Mrs. Vath also loved flowers. She had worked for more than 10 years at the former Mercer Greenhouse, where she was in charge of growing roses.

She was a member of the Lakeview Church of God, Stoneboro, where she served as a Sunday school superintendent for many years. She also served on the church board of directors and as treasurer for the church missionary school for many years.

Mrs. Vath was a also a past member of the Stoneboro Women's Club.

She married William H. Proud on March 31, 1934, and he preceded her in death in July 1967. She then married Wendell S. Vath on Oct. 27, 1990. He survives at home.

Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. LaVerne J. (Shirley) Hedglin of Stoneboro, Mrs. Robert A. (Judy) Poole of Stoneboro, and Mrs. Arthur O. (Betty) Fischer of Sandy Lake; one step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Becky) Kellogg of Deland, Fla.; two step-sons, Gary E. Vath and wife Jane of Stoneboro and Max B. Vath and wife Roxanne of Rolla, Mo.; one brother, Ben Jenkins of Andover, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; an infant grandson, Brett A. Poole; four sisters, Leona McMillion, Lucy Fletcher, Viola Jones and Hattie Perrine; four brothers, Ralph Jenkins, William Jenkins, Gerald Jenkins and Paul Jenkins.

Jeanne L. Bridenbaugh

Campground owner taught, loved the outdoors

Jeanne L. Bridenbaugh, of 182 S. Barry Road, West Salem Township, died at 8:05 a.m. Saturday (9-14-02) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 86.

Mrs. Bridenbaugh was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Williamsburg, Pa., to Jay A. Simpson and Alice Butt.

On Aug. 14, 1940, she married Carl G. Bridenbaugh. He died Feb. 17, 2002.

She was a graduate of Williamsburg (Pa.) High School and Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, flower gardening and improving her beloved Enchanted Acres Campground. Mrs. Bridenbaugh was also past president of the College Club of Sharon.

She taught at Williamsburg High School and was assistant superintendent at the Blair County Children's Home in Blair County, Pa., when her husband served overseas from 1943 to 1946. She and her husband moved to Sharpsville after World War II. Mrs. Bridenbaugh was a kindergarten teacher at Wee Wisdom in First Presbyterian Church in Sharon for 10 years, was children's activity director for Protective Home Life Insurance Co., Sharon, for several years and a substitute teacher at Reynolds High School for 10 years. She and her husband owned and operated Enchanted Acres Campground in West Salem Township for 25 years.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Susan) McAlevy of Birmingham, Ala., and Bette Bridenbaugh of Greenville; two sons, C. Gifford Bridenbaugh and wife Sande of Shelby, Ala., and Jay F. Bridenbaugh and wife Sheila of Cortland; two sisters, Nancy Cadle of Holidaysburg, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Florence Simpson of Washington, Pa.; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous step-great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack and Fred Simpson.

Elizabeth Zipay Yobe

Former Hermitage beautician gardened

Elizabeth Zipay Yobe, of John XIII Home, Hermitage, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Saturday (9-14-02) in the skilled care unit of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 89.

Mrs. Yobe was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Sharon to Michael and Mary Kamensky Zipay.

She attended Hartford schools and was a beautician at the former Shirley's Beauty Shop, Hermitage, for six years. She attended Christ Lutheran Church in Sharon.

An avid bowler and organ player, Mrs. Yobe enjoyed being outdoors, particularly gardening and working with flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and adored her grandchilden.

She was the widow of George J. Yobe, whom she married in April 1931. He died Dec. 25, 1987.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Dick (Betty Lou) Gareis of Hermitage; a sister, Vera Novak of Hartford; two brothers, Paul Zipay of Sharpsville and Bill Zipay of Hartford; eight grandchildren and 13 great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death her parents; her husband; a daughter, Eleanor Yobe; a son, George E. Yobe; four brothers, Michael, Joe, John and George Zipay; and two sisters, Mary Luckner and Ann Wittlinger.

Peter F. Yurcich

Former EMT had been Farrell Fire Dept. captain

Peter F. Yurcich, of 432 Patt Drive, Farrell, passed away at 7:20 a.m. Sunday (9-15-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 77.

Pete was born on Sept. 13, 1925, in Farrell to Frank and Kata Yazvac Yurcich.

He was captain on the Farrell Fire Department, was an active member of the EMS board for four years, served as secretary of the executive committee and was a member of the board of directors for the EMS council.

Among his other activities, Pete was a member of the Mercer County Fire Chiefs Association, served as co-director and instructor for the Mercer County Fire School and was an emergency medical technician-1, having graduated with the first class in the Shenango Valley in 1974.

Pete served as a Red Cross first aid instructor for standard and advance courses as a well as a cardio-pulmonary resusictation instructor for the American Heart Association.

Pete was also the Farrell city fire prevention officer, training officer and a state fire service instructor.

He retired from the Farrell Fire Department in 1984 after 27 years of service.

He was also employed as an EMT for McGonigle Ambulance Service in Sharon and by Joy Cone Company in Hermitage for 26 years.

He was an Army Air Force veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of Farrell American Legion Post 160, Farrell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5286, The Italian Home, Mercer County Fire Chiefs Association, Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department and served as the local emergency management coordinator for the city of Farrell.

Pete was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sharon and was also a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union.

Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Styborski, whom he married Nov. 27, 1948; his children, Antoinette "Toni" Egelsky and her husband Allen of Sharpsville, Carolyn Janosko and her husband Robert of Hermitage, Barbara Mason and her husband Michael of West Middlesex, Andrea Fletcher and her husband Robert of Sharon and Mark and Ralph at home; a sister, Catherine Nickoloff of Farrell; nine grandchildren, Kelley Yurcich, Kimberly Hnida and her husband, Anthony, Monica, Jacquelyn and Kristopher Mason, Theresa Yurcich and Jade Fletcher; and two great-grandchildren, Shelby Yurcich and Antonio Hnida.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Teresa; his parents and his brother, Nick.

Glen Michael Wilson

Body shop owner restored cars, belonged to car clubs

Glen Michael Wilson, of 195è Clarksville St., Greenville, formerly of 609 North Hermitage Road, Hermitage, and Stoneboro, died Sunday morning (9-15-02) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 71.

Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Turtle Creek, Pa., to Joseph L. and AnnaMarie Godula Wilson.

A 1947 graduate of Mercer High School, Mr. Wilson owned and operated Glen Wilson Firestone, Auto Body and Car Sales, Greenville, where he restored Avanti cars for more than 25 years. Recently he owned and managed Wilson Storage and Rental of Greenville.

He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Greenville, a former member of Notre Dame Church in Hermitage and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Stoneboro.

Mr. Wilson owned and restored antique Cadillacs and Corvettes. He was a member of the Cadillac-LaSalle Club and was charter member 58 of the National Corvette Restorers Society and former member of the Shenango Valley Car Club.

Mr. Wilson was a family man and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. His hobbies included collecting stamps and coins, postcards, car literature, model cars, boats and Lionel trains. He enjoyed camping, boating and traveling with his family and pet schnauzer, Chelsea.

He married Clara Katherine Mancuso on March 3, 1952.

Surviving are: his wife, of Greenville; three daughters, Mrs. Jeff (Colleen) Hamilton of Greenville, Debbie M. Wilson-Fontenot and Christine L. Wilson, both of Oviedo, Fla.; three sons, Michael G. Wilson and wife Patty of Sharpsville; Patrick J. Wilson and wife Debbie of Winter Haven, Fla., and Kenneth J. Wilson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three brothers, Joseph L. Wilson Jr. of Greenville, Donald J. Wilson of Mercer and James F. Wilson of Mercer; and seven grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Wilson, Julie and Brian Wilson, Melissa and Jerry Hamilton, and Emily Fontenot.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy Rossi, and a brother, Richard P. Wilson.
