Frank Anzur Jr. Decorated war vet retired from Wheatland Tube Frank Anzur Jr. of 1957 Sharon Hogue Road, Masury, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday (9-18-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 73. Mr. Anzur was born June 23, 1929, in Wendel, Pa., a son of Frank Anzur Sr. and Anna Slabe Anzur. After graduating in 1947 from Sewickley High School, he served as a corporal in the U.S. Army with the 40th Sig Company during the Korean conflict. He was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with three Bronze Stars; the United Nations Service Medal; and the National Defense Service Medal. Upon his honorable discharge, he served with the National Guard. Frank retired in 1991 after 41 years from Wheatland Tube Co., where he had worked in the Coupling Shop. He later was a courier for the Pyramid Fitness/Trotter Inc. His memberships included the Slovenian Benefit Society and he was an honorable member of Brookfield Conservation Club. He also served as a coach for Brookfield Little League for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and playing the accordion and button box. Survivors include: his wife, the former Judith Anne Kidd, whom he married Dec. 17, 1963; two sons, Frank W. Anzur, Vienna; and John Michael Anzur, Sharpsville; and three grandchildren, Jason, Aaron and Jessica Anzur. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Teresa Fonagy.
ANZUR Katherine Eloise Taylor Hermitage woman worked at Whitmer-Smith's A funeral service will be held Saturday for Katherine Eloise Taylor, 129 Ellis Ave., Hermitage. She died unexpectedly at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in her home. She was 81. Mrs. Taylor was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Sharon to Herman Scheu and Lucille Voglesong Scheu. She graduated in 1938 from Sharon High School and was employed by General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant as a stenographer for three years. She also worked for the former Whitmer-Smith's ladies clothing store in downtown Sharon for 20 years as a sales clerk. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church in Hermitage. She also belonged to the Hermitage Woman's Club; and the NNY Bridge Club of Hermitage. She was an avid bridge player, a golfer and a weekend sailor. During World War II, Mrs. Taylor was appointed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State Council of Defense, as an air raid warden. Her husband, C. Raymond Taylor, whom she married May 5, 1943, died Aug. 19, 1979. Surviving are: two sons, Robert and his wife Teri Taylor, Olathe, Kansas; and Donald Taylor, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Betty Gathers, Hermitage; her grandchildren, Scott, Carrie, Jeremy, Andrea, Katherine, Justin, Robert and Tara; two great-granddaughters; and a nephew, Thomas Fimonton. Besides her husband, Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Richard Allen Taylor. Memorial contributions may be made to Hickory United Methodist Church, 240 N. Clarence Marshall Showman WWII vet, chef belonged to Sharon, Farrell groups Clarence Marshall Showman of 52 S. Mercer Ave. in Sharpsville and formerly of Forrest Brooke Mobile Home Park, Lackawannock Township, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in his residence following a brief illness. He was 85. Mr. Showman was born on Aug. 9, 1917, in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pa., a son of John and Ella Kerns Showman. Mr. Showman was a chef for many years and owned several restaurants, including the Blue Moon in Baltimore. He belonged to Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 327 in Sharon and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 55 in Farrell. Mr. Showman served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. His first wife, the former Leona Mae Schomer, whom he married in April 1938, passed away in May 1986. He is survived at home by his second wife, the former Florence Larson, whom he married Nov. 21, 1987. He also leaves: a daughter, Shirley Pritts and her husband Bill, Savannah, Ga.; and a stepdaughter, Linda Cook, Orlando, Fla. Also surviving are: his son, Donald Showman and his wife Linda, Sharon; his stepson, Gary Larson and his wife Joanne, Calhoun, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Showman was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clarence G. Showman; a grandson, Donald Showman; one granddaughter, Donna Showman; as well as six sisters and four brothers.
SHOWMAN Paul H. Thompson Sr. WM plant retiree served in Hermitage church, groups Paul H. Thompson Sr., 53 Hermitage Hills Blvd., formerly of 1202 N. Keel Ridge Road, both Hermitage, died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 83. Mr. Thompson was born May 25, 1919, in Hermitage to Howard C. Thompson and Semilda J. Thoman Thompson. As an active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Hermitage, he served as an elder emeritus and was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher for many years. He was a 1937 graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage and received his associate's degree in animal husbandry from Pennsylvania State University. He retired in 1982 from Shenango Steel Buildings in West Middlesex with 27 years of service to the company as a rolling mill operator. He was also a member of Kiwanis Club of Hermitage and was a life member of Hermitage School District Parent Teacher Association. He belonged to Hermitage Volunteer Fire Department and was its treasurer for many years. Surviving are: his wife, Marjorie E. Minnick Thompson, whom he married Nov. 1, 1945; one son, the Rev. Paul H. Thompson Jr. and his wife Marilyn J. Thompson, Maeystown, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. John (Nancy) Rogan, Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Delmont R. Thompson and his wife Helen Thompson, Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Josephine) Jewell, Jefferson Township; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 159 Todd Ave., Hermitage 16148.

Gary E. McKee Gary E. McKee, 7307 Stewart Sharon Road, Hubbard, died Thursday (9-19-02) from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash in Youngstown. He was 55. Obituary information was incomplete.
