George A. Edmondson Harrisville man served in Canadian army in WWII George A. Edmondson, West Prairie Street, Harrisville, formerly of Slippery Rock and Niagara Falls, Canada, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, in his residence. He was 85. Mr. Edmondson was born Aug. 1, 1917, in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Arnold Edmondson and Beatrice Lee Edmondson. A graduate of Melfort High School in 1934, he was a steamfitter with Local 47 of the Plumbers & Steamfitters union with more than 50 years with the union. Mr. Edmondson was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of American Legion Post 852 in Harrisville; and a former member of the Canadian Legion. An avid golfer, Mr. Edmondson was a former member of Tri-County Thursday Night Golf League and achieved his first hole-in-one about two years ago at Pine Grove Golf Course in Grove City. He served as a corporal with the Canadian Army during World War II. His wife, the former Twila F. Meadows, whom he married on Dec. 15, 1960, died on Feb. 14, 1995. Surviving are: two daughters, Dyann L. Renick and Mrs. Ronald J. (Sherry J.) Buchanan, both Harrisville; two sons, Larry J. Edmondson, Niagara Falls; and Robert S. Edmondson, Harrisville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Avis) Kirchleckner; and one brother, James Edmondson, both Canada. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Edmondson was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of George A. EDMONDSON Joseph Rendos Retired farmer was veteran, worked for PennDOT ERIE -- Joseph Rendos, who for the past three years resided at Soldiers and Sailors Home, 560 E. Third St., Erie, and formerly of Springfield Township, died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002 in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, following a three-month illness. He was 83. Mr. Rendos was born Sept. 23, 1919, in Furnace Run, Pa., to John Rendos and Annie Stupak Rendos. A retired farmer, he had worked for PennDOT in the 1960s on state highways. As a U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Rendos was a former member of American Legion Post 159, Mercer; and a former social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a also a past member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1579; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1895, both Grove City. His first wife, the former Shirley Marie Crans, died on Oct. 13, 1974. His second wife, the former Mary Weber Dean, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1981, died on Jan. 8, 1993. Surviving are: two sons, William Rendos and Paul "Buck" Rendos, both Volant; two daughters, Kathy Lupkes, Albion, Iowa; and Patti Ann Atkinson, Lacona, Iowa; six grandsons, WilliamJr., Ben, Joseph Lee, Michael, Jason and Chad; four granddaughters, Jolene, Nicole, Lisa and Sara; and three great-grandchildren. Beside his first and his second wives, Mr. Rendos was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Frank and Charles.

Janet Currie Hempfield woman worked at local department stores Janet Currie, 8 Meadow Lane, Hempfield Township, died at 12:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in her residence following a long battle with cancer. She was 61. Mrs. Currie was born May 16, 1941, in Kirtland, Ohio, to Edward Jarmusch and Lydia Elbe Jarmusch. A 1959 graduate of North High School in Eastlake, Ohio, she was employed by Dalton Nitz Corp., Willoughby, Ohio, as a sales associate from 1974 to 1978. She then worked at Hope Sales in Eastlake, Ohio, as an office manager from 1978 to 1982. In 1982, Janet and her family moved to Greenville and she worked at the former Jamesway department store for many years. She later worked at Big Lots in Greenville until her illness in 2001. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenville, where she was a volunteer at the food pantry for many years. Janet enjoyed crafts, vacations and spending time with her family and friends. Her husband, James J. Currie, whom she married on May 18, 1963, survives at home. She also leaves: one daughter, Colleen Taylor and her husband, Scott; and one son, Scott Currie and his wife Jennifer, all Greenville; two sisters, Gale Michalski, Bolivar, Ohio; and Jean Vaught, Wickliffe, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Lois Jean Pitrone, Green Mountain Falls, Colo.; one brother, Gary Jarmusch, St. Paul, Oregon; one grandchild, Brooklyn Taylor; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Currie was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to Strayhaven Animal Shelter, Box 464, Greenville 16125; American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146; or Good Shepherd Center, 144 Main St., also Greenville 16125.

WALKER Helen Kelly RICHBORO, Pa. -- Helen Kelly, 395 Magnolia Drive, Levittown, Pa., formerly of Sharon, died at 4:10 p.m. Friday (9-27-02) in Richboro Care Center. She was 89. Obituary information was incomplete.
KELLY Pamela Rose Priester Former Coolspring woman was MCAR housekeeper WARREN, Pa. -- Pamela Rose Priester, 303 Water St., Warren, formerly of Coolspring Township, died unexpectedly at 1 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in her residence following a seizure. She was 31. Miss Priester was born June 17, 1971, in Grove City to John Henry Priester Sr. and Donna Abbott Priester. She attended Warren City Schools and worked in the Housekeeping Department of Mercer County Association for the Retarded in Hermitage. Miss Priester was a Wesleyan Methodist by faith. Surviving are: her father and stepmother, John and Sandra Priester, Mercer; her mother, Donna Abbott Lindsey, Sheffield, Pa.; her grandmother, Edna Curtician, Fredonia; two sisters, Ruth E. Priester, Williamsport, Pa.; and Johna K. Carnegie, Sheffield; one brother, John H. Priester Jr., Auburn, Ind.; and two stepbrothers, Burdette Guy Thomas, Jamestown, N.Y.; and Michael Thomas, Warren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Horace and Ruth Hughey Priester; and Earl and Gertrude Abbott.
