The following obituary is being reprinted from Saturday to include additional information provided by the fam-ily.

Doc M. Riddle
Retired traffic manager was 1st U.M. Church member

Doc M. Riddle, formerly of Maple Leaf Manor and 29 Quarter-mile Road, both Hempfield Township, died at 9:50 p.m. Thurs-day, Oct. 10, 2002, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. He was 90.

Mr. Riddle was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Butler County to Frank W. and Maude C. Thompson Riddle.

He was a 1929 graduate of Emlenton (Pa.) High School.

From 1932 to 1940, he worked for Pennzoil Co. in both Emlen-ton and Greenville. He then worked for Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad in Greenville for 12 years. He retired in 1974 from the former Greenville Tube after 20 years of service as a traffic manager. After retirement, he worked for Andrew H. Osborne III Funeral Home Inc. in Greenville, where he was an assistant.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church; and Free and Accepted Masons Eureka Lodge 290, both Greenville; Scot-tish Rite's New Castle Consistory; and Zem Zem Temple in Erie. He also belonged to American Automobile Association for 60 years; and the American Austin Bantam Car Club.

His wife, the former Lillian Tinker, whom he married on Oct. 30, 1936, preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 1982.

Surviving are: one son, Lindell V. Riddle and his wife Dr. Deborah L., Mayfield, Ohio; one sister, Georgia Riddle, Hendersonville, Nevada; and two granddaughters, Ann Eliza-beth and Deanna Lynn.

Besides his wife, Doc was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Leslie Alan and Larry Lee Riddle; two brothers, S. Paul Riddle and Vivian "Cappy" Riddle; and a sister, Florence Wagener.

Russell D. Weaver, 90 Shenango Drive, Sunny View Mobile Home Park, Transfer, died unexpectedly at 2:51 a.m. Saturday (10-12-02) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health Sys-tem. He was 49.

Levon Norris Jr.
Cedar Ave., Sharon, man was born in Mississippi

POTTSVILLE, Pa. -- A funeral service will be held Tuesday for Levon Norris Jr. of 858 Cedar Ave. in Sharon. He died at 7:33 a.m. Wednesday (10-9-02) in Good Samaritan Regional Medical Clinic. He was 38.

Mr. Norris was born June 1, 1964, in Midnight, Miss., to Levon Norris Sr. and Azalee Brooks.

Surviving are: his mother, with whom he made his home; his grandmother, Arizonia Brooks, Chicago; four brothers, Willie Norris and his wife Margaret, Farrell; Kevin Norris and his wife Fondelle, Pottstown; Stanley Brooks, Sharon; and Moses Phillips, also Farrell; three sisters, Marilyn Brooks, Phoebe Norris and Reginia Norris, all Farrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a niece, Cheryce L. Green.

NORRIS

Phyllis Lewis Jolley
Community leader directed many chil-dren's activities

A funeral service will be held Monday for Phyllis Lewis Jol-ley, 360 Rexford Drive, Hermitage. She died at 11 a.m. Fri-day, Oct. 11, 2002, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 85.

Mrs. Jolley was born March 13, 1917, in Bryn-Mawr, Wales, to Hubert Gray and Hilda Evans Gray.

She came to the United States as a little girl and graduated from Sharon High School in 1934. She then attended Young-stown State University.

Her love was for children and education and she became the founder of New Virginia Kindergarten School which began at New Virginia United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Jolley served on the Board of Regents for the Julia F. Buhl Girl's Club from 1960 to 1964 and as executive director from 1969 to 1981. She also served as the summer director for the Buhl Farm Kindergarten for eight years. Mrs. Jolley was the program director for Buhl Farm park and directed all park programs as well as the Buhl Playhouse for several years.

She continued community involvement as a Girl Scout leader for the Penn Lakes Council of Girl Scouts of America from 1954 to 1964.

She enjoyed playing bridge and participated in the Monday Nite Bridge Club and the Tuesday and Friday Bridge Clubs at the Buhl Club.

As an active and lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Sharon, Mrs. Jolley served on the administrative board and formerly directed the Summer Sunday school pro-grams. She was also a member of the T.M.T.M. (The More The Merrier) Class.

Her husband, William M. Jolley, whom she married in 1990, survives at home in Hermitage.

She also leaves: three daughters, Pamela L. Persson, wife of Jeffrey L. Persson, Hoover, Ala.; Hope J. Bard, wife of Stanley Bard, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Bethany E. Jolley, Mi-ami, Lakes, Fla.; two sisters, Jeane G. Walker, wife of Bert Walker, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and Lillian G. Bingman, wife of Glenn Bingman, Ballwin, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kortney Pe-terson, wife of Glen Peterson, League City, Texas; Katie Slatton, wife of Vince Slatton, Montevallo, Ala.; Kellie Persson, Auburn, Ala.; Kristy Persson, Hoover, Ala.; David Bard and his wife Veronica, San Pedro, Calif.; and Rachel Neuschaefer, wife of Greg Neuschaefer, West Dundee, Ill.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Her first husband, Kenneth R. Lewis, whom she married in 1939, died in 1988.

Besides her first husband, Mrs. Jolley was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Iva Gray McWilliams and Sybil Gray Lonie-Gensburg; and two grandchildren, Christian Lewis Persson and Miriam Bard.

Joseph E. Vasbinder
Wheatland Tube retiree

was Army veteran

Joseph E. Vasbinder of 662 Brookfield Ave., in Masury, died at 9:10 p.m. Friday (10-11-02) in his residence. He was 70.

Mr. Vasbinder was born March 12, 1932, in Indiana County, Pa., a son of Joseph B. and Mary Ellen Stiles Vasbinder.

He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict.

Mr. Vasbinder was a machine operator for 28 years at Wheat-land Tube Co., retiring in 1992.

His hobbies included marble collecting. He was a devoted NASCAR fan and an avid hunter.

Survivors include: his wife, the former Loretta McClinsey, whom he married April 16, 1953; one son, Bruce Alan Vas-binder, St. Paris, Ohio; four daughters, Deborah Dillon, Howland, Ohio; Dr. Darlene Calhoun, Bradenton Fla.; Eugenia McBride, Forest City, N.C.; and Vicki Mulligan, Hermitage; four sisters, Juella Vasbinder, Clymer, Pa.; Kathern Ever-ette, Catawissa, Pa.; June Lamer, Warren, Ohio; and Janie Chichy, Commodore, Pa.; two brothers, John Vasbinder, Solon, Ohio; and Edward Vasbinder, Chicago; and five grandchil-dren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael E. Vasbinder; and three sisters, Betty Nicewonger, Margaret Vasbinder and Barbara Vasbinder.

Annie Caroline Cross
Wheatland homemaker was West Virginia na-tive

Annie Caroline Cross of 114 Beechwood Ave., Wheatland, died at 8:06 a.m. Saturday (10-12-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 62.

Ms. Cross was born June 14, 1940, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a daughter of Myrtle Greene Greathouse.

Ms. Cross was a homemaker and enjoyed doing puzzles, cro-cheting and being around her grandchildren.

Survivors include: her fiance, Bill Howell, to whom she was engaged; one son, Frank Kurtz, Orangeville, Ohio; two daugh-ters, Tammy Buchanan, Masury; and Sara Stiffler, Alliance, Ohio; two brothers, Jack Truman, Orangeville; and Okey Tru-man, Hermitage; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mom; and four brothers, An-thony, Lloyd, Andy and Charles Greathouse.

Florence B. Nulph Weaver
Former hospital technician was mother of 9

Florence B. Nulph Weaver, 674 Sterrett Road, Irwin Township, Venango County, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, following an extended ill-ness. She was 92.

Mrs. Weaver was born Nov. 3, 1909, in Boyers, Butler County, to Wilbert O. Taylor and Gertrude Wiles Taylor.

She was a resident since 1948 of Irwin Township.

Mrs. Weaver retired in 1974 from the former Bashline Memo-rial Hospital in Grove City, where she was an electrocardial technician.

She was a member of Amity Presbyterian Church, Irwin Town-ship; Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 86, Grove City; and White Shrine of Jerusalem Shrine 53, both Grove City.

She also was a member and former secretary for Wesley Grange.

Mrs. Weaver enjoyed flowers, gardening and ceramics.

Her first husband, Wallace L. Nulph, whom she married in 1927, died on June 4, 1951. Her second husband, Walter G. Weaver, whom she married on Oct. 5, 1957, died on Oct. 14, 1986.

Surviving are: nine children, Janet Croll, wife of Elmer, Slippery Rock; Phyllis Shiels, wife of Samuel, Philadelphia; Sally Snyder, West Middlesex; Linda Nulph, James W. Nulph and Robert E. Nulph, all Grove City; Larry R. Nulph, Phila-delphia; Dennis P. Nulph, Oil City; and W. Bruce Nulph, Mer-cer; a sister, Gay Taylor, Grove City; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her first and second husbands, Mrs. Weaver was pre-ceded in death by a sister, Elsie Miller; four brothers, Merle R. Taylor, Wilbert Taylor, Roy Taylor and Edgar Claire Taylor; a stepsister, Grace Jacobs; a stepbrother, Ralph Taylor; and a grandson, Gregory Nulph.

John 'Jack' Leonard Kelly
Member of St. Joseph's was Sharon Steel re-tiree

John "Jack" Leonard Kelly, 5065 Schwartz Lane, Hermitage, passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in UPMC Hori-zon, Greenville, following a brief illness. He was 70.

Mr. Kelly was born July 23, 1932, in Sharon to Jack McGrath and Mabel Reiter Kelly.

He attended Sharon area schools and worked for the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant as a ram driver for 20 years. He retired in 1992.

Mr. Kelly was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sharon and enjoyed golfing and bowling.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Helena Matteo, at home, whom he married on April 15, 1972; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Jeanne) Phillips, Masury; two sons, Michael Colello and Ron Colello, both Sharon; a sister, Mary Heiderman, Sharon; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Joseph and Jack Colello; and two brothers, William and Harry Hei-derman.
