Clara A. Krupa Sniezek New Castle homemaker had sister in Masury NEW CASTLE -- Clara A. Krupa Sniezek, 316 Smithfield St., New Castle, died at 4:44 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in the hospital of Jameson Health System. She was 88. Mrs. Sniezek was born Sept. 24, 1914, in New Castle to Alexy Krupa and Mary Ulamek Krupa. She was a homemaker. As a Catholic by faith, Mrs. Sniezek was a member of Madonna Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish in New Castle. Her husband, Frank J. Sniezek Sr., to whom she was married for 61 years, died in 1998. Surviving are: one son, Frank J. Sniezek Jr., New Castle; one brother, Joseph Krupa, New Castle; four sisters, Jessie Kuharski and Helen Nycz, both New Castle; Leona Leavens, Masury; and Stella Vrabel, also New Castle; and one grandchild. Besides her husband, Frank Sniezek, Sr., she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Frank Sniezek; and three brothers, Mike "Coxie" Krupa, William "Kipi" Krupa and Walter Krupa.
SNIEZEK Jane Olympia Choban Sharon native was singer in Cleveland choruses CLEVELAND -- Jane Olympia Choban, Cleveland, formerly of Sharon, died of natural causes at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Manor Care Nursing Home. She was 90. Of Romanian heritage, Mrs. Choban was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Sharon to Nicolai A. Crishon and Caroline Crishon. An alumna of Sharon High School, she worked as a secretary for the former Mott Robertson Ice Cream Co., on Dock Street in Sharon, and later in the office of Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Cleveland. Mrs. Choban was an active member of St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Church in Cleveland and formerly belonged to St. John's Byzantine Romanian Catholic Church in Hermitage. She also belonged to the Union and League Romanian societies of America; and the Carpetina Society. She loved her family, her church and her children. A gifted soprano, Mrs. Choban also loved to sing, and was a past participant in the "Mother Singers" of the Cleveland area, as well as the Cleveland Messiah Chorus. Her husband, John J. Choban, whom she married in 1937, is deceased. Surviving are: three sons, John G. Choban, Donald N. Choban and Philip P. Choban, all Cleveland; three sisters, Clementine Burton, Tryon, N.C.; Aurora Carnino, Howland Township, Trumbull County; and Delores Idomir, Austin, Texas; and one brother, Romuel Crishon, Livonia, Mich. She also leaves four grandchildren, John J., Christopher J., Joshua J. and Melissa L. Choban, all of Cleveland, all of whom she dearly loved. Besides her husband, Mrs. Choban was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marie Roscoe; and a brother, George Crishon.
CHOBAN Rosella 'Babe' Rotunno Rosella "Babe" Rotunno, 882 N. Stateline Road, Masury, died at 9:50 a.m. Friday (11-29-02) in Brookfield after an extended illness. She was 85. Obituary information was incomplete.
ROTUNNO Benjamin 'Ben' F. Lyons Former tire distributor was WWII Navy veteran A funeral service will be held Monday for Benjamin "Ben" F. Lyons of 910 Biscayne Drive, Hermitage. He died Thursday morning (11-28-02) in his residence following an extended illness. He was 83. Mr. Lyons was born Jan. 24, 1919, in Woodside, Pa., a son of John A. Lyons and Eleanor Sider Lyons. A graduate of St. Georges High School in Smithfield, Pa., he was a former 30-year active member of Central Christian Church in Hermitage, where he had served as a deacon and elder and had been chairman of the administrative board for several terms. Mr. Lyons presently attended Neshannock Alliance Church in Shenango Township. He was also a former member of Hermitage Kiwanis Club for 25 years; a founder of Christian businessmen; and had served on the advisory board of Bill Rudge Ministries in Hermitage. Mr. Lyons retired in 1982 as president and owner since 1973 of Hickory Tires. He formerly worked for Sharon Tires from 1957 to 1972. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by: his wife, the former Jean E. Honsaker, whom he married on Dec. 24, 1939; a daughter, Pamela J. Lyons, Hermitage; four sons, Terry A. Lyons and his wife Carolyn, Greenwood, S.C.; Lynn D. Lyons and his wife Sallie, Waldorf, Md.; Mark H. Lyons and his wife Paula, Hermitage; and Scott B. Lyons and his wife Betsy, Diamond Head, Miss.; and a brother, Wayne Lyons, Somerset, Pa. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Lyons was preceded in death by his parents. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Neshannock Alliance Church, 3109 S. Keel Ridge Road, West Middlesex 16159.
