Camille Luba
Former Jefferson Township resident was homemaker

Camille Luba, formerly of 150 Zahniser Road in Jefferson Township, passed away at 3 p.m. Wednesday (12-4-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 90.

Mrs. Luba was born Aug. 26, 1912, in S. Amboy, N.J., to Frank Wojciechoski and Josephine Klimkowski Wojciechoski.

She attended Canonsburg (Pa.) schools and was employed by the former American Can Co. in Canonsburg. She later worked as a coil winder at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Mercer and was a former member of St. Adalbert's Church in Farrell.

She also belonged to Charleston Yester Years Club.

A homemaker, she loved to grow African violets and enjoyed baking and cooking.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was participating in the lives of her grandchildren.

Her husband, Alexander Luba, whom she married April 14, 1931, passed away June 7, 1972.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Lillian) Gress, Hermitage; and Mrs. Daniel (Carolyn) Stambaugh, Lackawannock Township; two sons, Robert Luba and his wife Mildred, Jefferson Township; and Ronald Luba and his wife Shirley, Lackawannock Township; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ida Luba and Genevieve Ross; and an infant brother.

Adalbert Csisko

Former Czech geologist worked at Sharon Steel

Adalbert Csisko, 44 Mesabi St., Sharon, formerly of Slovakia, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. He was 84.

Mr. Csisko was born Feb. 19, 1918, in Slovakia.

He went to school in Slovakia and came to the U.S. in 1951. He attended the University of Prague to receive his doctorate in geology and was a geologist in Czechoslovakia prior to coming to the United States.

Mr. Csisko worked in the engineering department of the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant for 30 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors.

Surviving are a cousin, Jack Derata, Girard, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Csisko was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Walter L. Sheasley Jr.

WWII vet, a Purple Heart recipient, was WE retiree

Walter L. Sheasley Jr., Countryside Convalescent Home, East Lackawannock Township, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Wednesday (12-4-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 77.

Mr. Sheasley was born June 19, 1925, in Sharon, a son of Walter Sheasley Sr. and Elizabeth Richards Sheasley.

A Sharon High School graduate, Mr. Sheasley retired in 1983 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he had been employed for more than 30 years. He had been a welder for most of his working adult life.

He was a former member of East Side (Baptist-Disciples of Christ) Church, Sharon.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Sheasley served in the European theater of operations and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Sheasley also served as a volunteer at the F.H. Buhl Club in Sharon.

His wife, the former Jean M. Xirakis, whom he married May 22, 1949, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Cynthia L. Sheasley, Shenango Township; two sons, Kenneth W. Sheasley and his wife Deb, Hermitage; and Bradley J. Sheasley, York, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. John "Jack" (Dian) Montgomery, Hermitage; a brother, Daniel Sheasley and his wife Marlene, Altoona, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Jason Sheasley, Abigayle Sheasley and Ashlyn Sheasley.

Mr. Sheasley was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Beulah B. Campbell

Sharon Store worker served in Greater Mount Zion

GARY, Ind. -- A funeral service will be held Saturday for Beulah B. Campbell, formerly of Farrell. She died on Sunday (12-1-02) in Methodist Hospital, Gary. She was 80.

Mrs. Campbell was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Cheraw, S.C., to Hood Pegues and Dora Grace Pegues.

She was previously employed at the former Sharon Store in downtown Sharon.

As a member of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell, Mrs. Campbell belonged to the Evangel Mission Board, the Mothers Board, and Hymnal Choir and served as the anniversary captain.

While a member of Open Door Church of God Refuge in Christ in Gary, Mrs. Campbell served as a mighty prayer warrior, an evangelist missionary and a devotional leader. She was also president of the pastor's aide, co-chairman of the Anniversary Committee and leader of the Prayer and Bible Band.

She was a blood donor and enjoyed visiting local hospitals and nursing homes, reading scriptures and hymns.

Her husband, Dotsey Campbell, whom she married June 1, 1947, died Dec. 14, 1977.

Surviving are: three sons, Cornell H. Pegues and his wife Queenie, Warren, Ohio; James Robert "Pepper" Campbell and his wife Carolyn, West Middlesex; and Donald Campbell and his wife Lee, Gary; four daughters, Elizabeth Campbell, Morattico, Va.; Carol V. Lampkins, Gary; Gwendolyn Joyce Blackwell and her husband Robert, Farrell; and Diana P. Jones, Gary; one brother, Robert Pegues and his wife Charlotte, Hermitage; two sisters, Mamie Fletcher, Cheraw; and Bertha Robinson, Farrell; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; an uncle, Johnny Grace, Cheraw; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Jerome "Soupy" Campbell.

Leslie Earl Martin

Purple Heart recipient had brother in Grove City

BUTLER -- Leslie Earl Martin, a resident of Homewood for more than 40 years and formerly of West Mayfield and Clintonville, all Pennsylvania, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 3, 2002, in Butler Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was 86.

Born Feb. 26, 1916, in Clintonville, Mr. Martin was a son of the late James A. and Alma Othella Bell Martin.

He was employed for 29èyears for Armstrong World Industries in Beaver Falls, where he retired in 1975 as a leader in the corkboard department.

Mr. Martin was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II when he received the distinguished Purple Heart medal; a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8106, New Galilee, Pa.; and attended Homewood United Methodist Church, Beaver Falls.

He was a lifelong avid hunter.

Surviving are: two sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Kay Martin, Enon Valley, Lawrence County; Gary L. and Jean Martin, New Brighton; five grandchildren, Jodie Humecki, Abilene, Texas; Keith Tokar, Austin, Texas; Kathi Finch and her husband Ian, Homewood; Kari Nothstein and her husband Jeremy, Pittsburgh; and Jesse Martin, New Brighton; three great-grandchildren, Michael Humecki; and Tasha and Meredith Tokar; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Donald Edwin Martin and wife Jean, Chippewa Township, Beaver County; Oliver Eugene Martin and wife Helen, Grove City; and Raymond Kenneth and George Frederick Martin, both Clintonville; two other sisters-in-law, Helen and Stella Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. White Martin, in 1993; a daughter, Mary McCann, 1997; and eight brothers.

John Edwin 'Ed' West

Cooper retiree belonged

to Grace United Methodist

A funeral service will be held Saturday for John Edwin "Ed" West, 768 N. Broad St. Extension, Pine Township.

He died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a two-year illness. He was 87.

Mr. West was born June 24, 1915, in Oil City to John Martin West and Emma Ulander West.

He retired in 1978 from Cooper Energy Services Reciprocating Products in Grove City, where he was a press operator in the welding shop.

Mr. West belonged to Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City, where he was a former member of the Methodist Men of the church.

His wife, the former Evelyn Craig, whom he married June 12, 1941, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Nancy Markezin, Media, Pa.; a son, James R. West and his wife, Lexine, Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Todd West, James West Jr., Christie Markezin and Jake Markezin; two sisters, Donna West, Oil City; and Betty Speerstra, wife of Sam, Oakwood, Pa.; and two great-grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth West and Jacob Elias West.

Mr. West was preceded in death by his parents; one son, John West, who died in 1967; three sisters, Helen Hulings, Bernice Lane and Emma Greene; and two brothers, the Rev. William West and Lee West.

Mary Ann Campbell, Hermitage, formerly of 455 S. State Line Road, Sharon, passed away at 11:13 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, following an extended illness. She was 78.

Mrs. Campbell was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Sharpsville to Soccio Petrecini and Theresa Piccirilli Petrecini.

She attended schools in Sharpsville and was employed as a fountain clerk for 10 years at Thrift Drug in Hermitage, and later for five years at the former Valley View department store in Brookfield.

A homemaker, prior to her marriage Mrs. Campbell worked at Joy Cone in Hermitage.

She was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon and was a former member of Sharon Regional Health System Auxiliary.

Her husband, James Robert Campbell, whom she married Dec. 15, 1946, survives.

Surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Mark A. (Deborah A.) Dunder, West Middlesex; one son, Joseph W. Campbell and his wife Rose Mary, Howland, Ohio; and four grandchildren, James Campbell, Sarah Campbell, Amanda Dunder and Mary Louise Dunder.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anna Arci and Jenny Depofi; and four brothers, John, Anthony, Thomas and Theodore Petrecini.

First Brookfield woman

A funeral service will be held Friday for Nancy M. Helmuth of 669 Gaylord Ave., Masury. She died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday (12-3-02) in her residence. She was 59.

Mrs. Helmuth was born March 11, 1943, in Sharon, a daughter of George Samuel and Philomena Pavone McWhorter.

She was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University with an associate's degree in human growth and development.

Mrs. Helmuth was employed by Joe Adamchick, constructing false dental appliances.

Her memberships included involvement in Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon. She also worked hard toward becoming the first woman volunteer fireman for Brookfield Volunteer Fire Department.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with her dog.

Her husband, Albert David Helmuth, whom she married Aug. 7, 1976, died in 1998.

Survivors include: two sons, David Helmuth, Farmdale, Ohio; and Robert Helmuth, Columbus, Ohio; five daughters, Karen Barber, Farrell; and Tammy Helmuth, Heidi Bulick, Heather Helmuth and Amy Helmuth, all Masury; one sister, Rosemary Kern, Sandusky, Ohio; four grandchildren, Brandon Joel Kistler; and Christine, Catherine and Cynthia Helmuth; two great-grandchildren; one niece, Barbie Hoffman; two nephews, Michael Evakich and E.J. Cocott; four great-nieces and one great-nephew.

Mrs. Helmuth was preceded in death by her parents.

    Interment: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hermitage.
