Sharon Store worker served in Greater Mount Zion

The following obituary is being reprinted to include a photo as well as additional information, neither of which was given to The Herald for publication on Thursday.

GARY, Ind. -- A funeral service will be held Saturday for Beulah B. Campbell, formerly of Farrell. She died Sunday (12-1-02) in Methodist Hospital, Gary. She was 80.

Mrs. Campbell was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Cheraw, S.C., to Hood Pegues and Dora Grace Pegues.

She was previously employed at the former Sharon Store in downtown Sharon.

As a member of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ in Farrell, Mrs. Campbell belonged to the Evangel Mission Board, the Mothers Board and Hymnal Choir, and served as the anniversary captain.

While a member of Open Door Church of God Refuge in Christ in Gary, Mrs. Campbell served as a mighty prayer warrior, an evangelist missionary and a devotional leader. She was also president of the pastor's aide, co-chairman of the Anniversary Committee and leader of the Prayer and Bible Band.

She was a blood donor and enjoyed visiting local hospitals and nursing homes, reading scriptures and hymns.

Her husband, Dotsey Campbell, whom she married June 1, 1947, died Dec. 14, 1977.

Surviving are: three sons, Cornell H. Pegues and his wife Queenie, Warren, Ohio; James Robert "Pepper" Campbell and his wife Carolyn, West Middlesex; and Donald Campbell and his wife Lee, Gary; four daughters, Elizabeth Campbell, Morattico, Va.; Carol V. Lampkins, Gary; Gwendolyn Joyce Blackwell and her husband Robert, Farrell; and Diana P. Jones, Gary; one brother, Robert Pegues and his wife Charlotte, Hermitage; two sisters, Mamie Fletcher, Cheraw; and Bertha Robinson, Farrell; 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; an uncle, Johnny Grace, Cheraw; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerome "Soupy" Campbell; two brothers, Daniel Pegues and James "Gabby" Pegues; one sister, Julia Adams; and one grandson.

Katherine "Kate" L. Germadnik of 117 Beechwood Ave., Wheatland, died at 5:15 a.m. Thursday (12-5-02) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 82.

Mrs. Germadnik was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Wheatland, a daughter of George and Mary Zenn Madasz.

She was a lifetime member of American Legion Unit 432, Wheatland; belonged to Veterans of Foreign Wars Hickory Post 6166, Hermitage; and Saxon Club, Farrell; and also was a lifetime member of Slovenian Home, Sharon.

Kate was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards.

Her husband, John J. Germadnik, whom she married July 24, 1943, died Sept. 23, 1972.

Survivors include: a son, John G. Germadnik, Wheatland; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Kathy) Gaylog, Cortland; and Patricia Germadnik, Wheatland; a brother, Joseph Madasz, Wheatland; a sister, Mary Gross, Belair, Md.; and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her husband, Kate was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, John, Fred and George Madasz.

Ethel V. Goss

Ex-Hermitage homemaker had lived in Brookville area

ZELIENOPLE -- Ethel V. Goss, Zelienople, formerly of Hermitage, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in Passavant Retirement Center following an extended illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Goss was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Carnot, Pa., to Jonah Wood and Anna Pearl Hinerman Wood.

She graduated in 1936 from Carnot Grade School.

She was a homemaker and worked for Brookville Area School District for 10 years as a secretary.

Mrs. Goss enjoyed crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, making quilts and singing in the Brookville Presbyterian Church choir.

Her husband, Wayne Goss, whom she married Sept. 5, 1941, survives at Passavant Center.

Also surviving are: three sons, Douglas and his wife Nina Goss, Topeka, Kan.; Dennis and his wife Mary Goss, Zelienople; and Duane and his wife Anita Goss, Richmond, Va.; a sister, Genevieve Dugan, Columbus, Ohio; and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Goss was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Alverda Rouzer; and one brother, Gaylord Wood.
