Louise A. Salandria Retired Sharon hospital nurse was league bowler Louise A. Salandria, 1037 Bechtol Ave., Sharon, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday (12-31-02) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 72. Born April 15, 1930, in Sharon to Stanley and Adela Truckowsky Fascewsky, Mrs. Salandria was a lifelong resident of Sharon. She graduated in 1948 from Sharon High School and in 1952 from the Homestead (Pa.) Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Salandria worked as a registered nurse for Sharon Regional Health System for 33 years in the emergency room, later retiring from Floor 6 West. She was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart in Sharon. She enjoyed bowling and belonged to a league at Sharpsville Bowling Center. A devoted mother and grandmother, Mrs. Salandria enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities. She was a member of Polish National Alliance and Queen Wanda Lodge 2344 of Farrell, as well as the North Sharon Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Harry A. Salandria, whom she married Sept. 6, 1951, survives. Also surviving are: two daughters, LouAnn M. Mergl and Maria A. Salandria, both Sharon; a son, Timothy F. Salandria, Hudson, Mass.; two sisters, Francis J. Fascewsky, Sharon; and Catherine L. Bonaquist, Sharpsville; and three grandchildren, Ryan A., Scott A. and Kara A. Mergl. Mrs. Salandria was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anne Fascewsky and Helen Flowers; and two brothers, John and Joseph Fascewsky.
SALANDRIA Carmelo Reed Hermitage woman was Farrell native Carmelo Reed, Pine Hollow Mobile Home Park, 1625 George St. Extension in Hermitage, passed away peacefully on Monday (12-30-02) in her residence following an extended illness. She was 84. Mrs. Reed was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Farrell, a daughter of Luigi and Concetta Caputo. She attended Farrell schools. Her husband, Milton W. Reed, whom she married April 27, 1940, passed away Dec. 28, 1997. Surviving are: her son, with whom she lived, William M. Reed; and one daughter, Louise Biro and her husband, Alan, Hermitage. Seven grandchildren, Kimberly Zoccoli, Jeaneen Campbell, Charissa Reed, Richard Biro, Scott Biro, Christopher Reed and Jenifer Reed; and her 12 great-grandchildren also survive her. Besides her husband, Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by a son, Paul R. Reed; and five sisters.

Earl F. 'Curly' Wohlgemuth New Bedford man, church deacon was Korean War vet A funeral service will be held Saturday for Earl F. "Curly" Wohlgemuth, Evergreen Road, New Bedford. He died unexpectedly at 3:02 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, in Hilton Head (S.C.) Medical Center. He was 71. Mr. Wohlgemuth was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Buffalo Creek, Pa., to Carl Wohlgemuth and Amanda A. Spithaler Wohlgemuth. He attended Bessemer (Pa.) High School and worked for U.S. Steel in McDonald, Ohio, as a pipe fitter for 30 years. He retired in 1980. Mr. Wohlgemuth was a member of Shenango Christian Church of New Castle, where he was a deacon. He enjoyed studying the Bible with his church. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and belonged to the Men's Club of Foxwood Farms, Ocala, Fla. His wife, the former Mary E. Metzka, whom he married March 2, 1957, survives at home. Also surviving are: two daughters, Marlene J. Jones, Palmyra, Pa.; and Diane J. and her husband Daniel Lynch, New Castle; two sons, Carl F. and his wife Pattie Wohlgemuth, Lebanon, Pa.; and John E. and his wife Kim Wohlgemuth, New Bedford; a sister, Mildred E. Johns, New Castle; a half sister, Esther Wohlgemuth, New Castle; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Wohlgemuth was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Elmer C. Wohlgemuth.
WOHLGEMUTH Clarence Parkinson Sharon native was Packard retiree, union officer WARREN, Ohio -- Clarence Parkinson, 1352 Westover Ave. SE, Warren, formerly of Sharon, died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in Trumbull Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was 78. Mr. Parkinson was born Nov. 9, 1924, in Sharon to Joseph Parkinson and Zettie Von Vockinburg Parkinson. He was a graduate of Sharon High School. Mr. Parkinson lived in the Warren area for 35 years and retired in 1985 after 34 years of employment with Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, where he served as a union committeeman. He previously worked for five years at General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant. He served as an insurance representative and committeeman for Packard Electric's Local 717 union, and was previously the union treasurer. Mr. Parkinson was co-owner and operator of Highland NAUS Club Ohio #17C. His wife, the former Janice Milliron, whom he married Jan. 10, 1990, survives at home in Warren. Also surviving are: three sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Dolly Parkinson, Hermitage; Denny and Phyllis Parkinson, Masury; and Joey and Judy Parkinson, Cortland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Chuck Schell, Clark; and Debby and Bob Parsons, Cortland; three stepdaughters, Kathy Proper, Howland, Ohio; and Yvonne Jeffco and Joyce White, both Warren; and a stepson, Ron Jeffco, Diamond, Ohio. He also leaves: 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy and her husband Bob Zimmerman, Sarasota, Fla.; and Viola Marshall, Fowler. Mr. Parkinson was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janice Parkinson; a son, John Parkinson; and a brother, Charles Parkinson.
PARKINSON Doris J. Chapin Ex-Hermitage woman lived in Ga., had daughter here WINSTON, Ga. -- A funeral service will be held Friday for Doris J. Chapin of 6325 Rice St., Winston, formerly of Hermitage. She died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, in her residence after an extended illness. She was 68. She was the wife of H. Raymond Chapin. Born Tuesday, May 1, 1934, in Sharon, Mrs. Chapin was a daughter of the late Clyde and Stella Brown Knox. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Winston. Mrs. Chapin was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: a daughter, Debra, wife of David Tomko, Sharon; three sons, David, husband of Noel Chapin, Orange, Calif.; Richard Chapin, Winston; and Brian Chapin, Monett, Mo.; a sister, Clydine Watson-Dickey, Struthers, Ohio; and a brother, Don Knox, Toledo, Ohio. She is also survived by four grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Knox.
CHAPIN Paul F. Hoffman Copperweld retiree was captain with state police A funeral service will be held Friday for Paul F. Hoffman, 10346 Adamsville Road, Hartstown. He died at 12:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township. He was 86. Mr. Hoffman was born June 21, 1916, in Hermitage to Ralph Hoffman and Emma Struchen Hoffman. A 1933 graduate of Hickory High School, Hermitage, he retired in 1978 from Copperweld Steel in Warren, Ohio, where he worked for 30 years. Mr. Hoffman also was employed at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.; and the former Sample Funeral Home in Sharon as well as others in the local area; and drove a Greyhound bus. He was a member of Adamsville Presbyterian Church and was a former captain with State Police of Crawford and Erie Counties Co. #38; the Buhl Rifle Club, Sharon; and Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 389, West Middlesex, formerly of Lodge 250 in Sharon. He was also a member of the Crawford County Fire Police. His wife, the former Florence Davis, whom he married April 15, 1948, survives at home. Mr. Hoffman was preceded in death by his parents and a son, H. James Hoffman.

Anna Wasiuta Packard retiree lived in Hermitage A funeral service will be held Saturday for Anna Wasiuta, 516 Crawford Drive, Hermitage. She died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, in Hospitality Care Center, Hermitage, after an extended illness. She was 80. Anna was born Dec. 18, 1922, in Ukraine. She attended schools in Ukraine and worked for Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, Ohio, for more than 30 years as a laborer. She retired in 1986. Anna had attended St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sharon. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and loved her flowers. Surviving are: two daughters, Gloria and her husband Mitchell Petrosky, Masury; and Nadia Penman, Sharpsville; and three grandchildren, Leo E. Petrosky; and Matthew and Natalie Penman. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Antonio Wasiuta; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Clayton B. Bruce Farrell man retired from Westinghouse A funeral service will be held Saturday for Clayton B. Bruce, 1117 Emerson Ave., Farrell. He died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 84. Mr. Bruce was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Farrell to Wilbert Bruce and Martha Holmes Bruce. He attended Farrell High School and retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. after more than 30 years as a transformer assembler. Prior to that he worked as a steel worker for the former Carnegie Steel's Farrell plant. He was also a wallpaper hanger, a mechanic and a handyman. Mr. Bruce attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hermitage. He enjoyed working on cars and helping out his neighbors when they were in need. Surviving are: one daughter, Emily Bruce-Curlee, Farrell; two nieces who were raised with him as sisters, Shirley Bruce Ampy and Dr. Martha Bruce, both Sharon; two grandchildren, Benjamin Bruce, Farrell; Erika Cleveland, Sharon; a great-grandson, Benjamin Bruce Jr., Farrell; and many other nieces as well as nephews. Mr. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Waldene (Fields) Bruce, who died in 1973; and two brothers and two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Hann Hill, Hermitage 16148; or American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146.
