Robert L. Colson National Castings retiree, war vet lived in South Py A funeral service will be held Saturday for Robert L. Colson, 4739 Thomason Road, South Pymatuning Township. He died of natural causes at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 71. Mr. Colson was born March 31, 1931, in Sharon to Henry L. Colson and Leona Siebert Colson. A graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage, he worked for 32 years and 11 months for National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp. in Sharon, retiring in 1983 as a finisher. An Army veteran, he achieved a rank of corporal and served during the Korean conflict. Mr. Colson was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Hermitage and West Salem Grange Association. His wife, the former Margaret Porkolab, whom he married June 29, 1957, died April 20, 1996. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Joseph C. (Lily A.) Ferk II, New Castle; and Mrs. Alan (Susan F.) Fennell, West Middlesex; a sister, Grace Shontz, Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Herbert Colson, Florida; and five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Besides his wife, Mr. Colson was preceded in death by his parents.
COLSON Marcel Prelerson Sawhill retiree belonged to Holy Cross Orthodox A private service will be held for Marcel Prelerson, 74 Chestnut St., Wheatland. He died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 74. Mr. Prelerson was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Fisher Romania to Andrew and Ann Prelerson. He attended Bedford (Ohio) area schools and worked for Sawhill Tubular Co. for 32 years as a packer. He retired in 1982. Mr. Prelerson was a member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Hermitage. He served in the Army during peacetime and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Surviving are: his wife, the former Aurella Ludu, at home, whom he married June 25, 1949; a daughter, Kathleen M. and her husband Glenn E. Davis, Hermitage; four sons, Michael A. Prelerson, at home; Robert J. and his wife Jill Prelerson, Sharpsville; James M. and his wife Karen Prelerson, Papillion, Neb.; and Scott A. Prelerson, also at home; and five grandchildren, Katy, Chad, Todd, Cory and Zachary. Mr. Prelerson was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant son, Richard Paul Prelerson. PRELERSON Michael F. Daniello '68 RHS grad, youth coach was UAW, Trinity worker Michael F. Daniello, 1020 Linn-Tyro Road, Perry Township, died at 4:04 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in his home after a brief illness. He was 52. Mr. Daniello was born April 23, 1950, in Greenville to Frank A. and Anna G. Incerto Daniello. A 1968 graduate of Reynolds High School, he worked for five years as international representative for United Auto Workers Region Nine and previously was a welder for 28 years at Trinity Industries-Greenville Rail Car. For nine years, Mr. Daniello was also their union president for Local 1653. He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599, Reynolds; and a life member of Italian Home Club, Greenville. Mr. Daniello was a master gardener, an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a coach for Reynolds midget football from 1982 to 1990. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed his camp in Tidioute, Pa. He served in the U.S. Army in 1969 and in the Army Reserves for six years. His wife, the former Ina L. Youngblood, whom he married Aug. 16, 1997, survives at home. Surviving are: a daughter, Tara Daniello, Transfer; three sons, Dennis Daniello, Transfer; Albert Walton, Monterey, Calif.; and Matthew Walton, Overland Park, Kansas; his mother, Anna Daniello, Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Richard (Antoinette) Royal, Vernon, Conn.; Mrs. Robert (Mariann) Budas, Strongsville, Ohio; Mrs. Daniel (Tess) Redfoot, Greenville; Mrs. Joseph (Mary Fran) Krachkowski, Greenville; and Mrs. Tracel (Joannie) Pickens, Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Guy Daniello and his wife Jean, Mason, N.H.; and Tony Daniello and his wife Carole, Greenville; and three grandsons. Mr. Daniello was preceded in death by his father; and one brother, Frank Daniello Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of St. Michael's Church, 85 N. High St., Greenville 16125; or the American Cancer Society, 19 Jefferson Ave., Sharon 16146.
DANIELLO Kenneth O. 'K.O.' Greene Retired Farrell police chief was narcotics unit detective Kenneth O. "K.O." Greene, 2010 Stafford St., Farrell, died of natural causes at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, Jan., 15, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after an extended illness. He was 63. Ken was born Jan. 23, 1939, in New Castle to Oscar L. Greene and Mary H. Keith Greene. He was a police officer for the City of Farrell for 18 years, having retired in 1986. Ken served as chief of police for what was then Farrell police department. When the Farrell narcotics unit was organized, he served as a detective for the unit. He was also a carrier for First National Bank of Mercer County. Ken was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church; and Fraternal Order of Police Joseph Volansky Lodge 34, both Farrell. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Norfolk in the Mediterranean Sea. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching tennis matches on television. His wife, the former Carole J. Ring, whom he married Aug. 14, 1971, survives at home. Also surviving are: a son, Kenneth Greene, Canton, Ohio; three daughters, Megan Greene, Farrell; and Kim Greene and Mischelle Kostik, both Laughlin, Nev.; a brother, Charles Greene, husband of Agnes, Sharon; a sister, Shirley Davidson, wife of David, Ellicott City, Md.; two nephews, Thomas and James Greene; a niece, Mary Shaffer; and five grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Myelodysplasia Foundation.
GREENE Raymond E. Haynie Jr. Mercer United Methodist member worked in Hubbard Raymond E. Haynie Jr., 239 W. Venango St., Apartment B, Mercer, died unexpectedly at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, of a heart attack. He was 47. Mr. Haynie was born May 31, 1955, in Rochester, Pa., to Raymond E. Haynie Sr. and Fay Orrell Haynie. He was employed as a welder's assistant at Delta Gulf in Hubbard and previously worked for Mercer Tire, Tri-County and Mercer Forge Co. Mr. Haynie was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church. His wife, the former Kay Flannery, whom he married May 17, 1980, survives at the residence. Surviving besides his wife are: two sons, Justin and Joshua Haynie, both at the residence; Raymond's mother, Fay Haynie, Mercer; two sisters, Joyce, wife of Roger Speer, Hermitage; and Sheila, wife of Roger McCain, Houston; and two brothers, Keith Haynie and his wife Krista, Ellwood City; and David Haynie and his wife Sue, Mercer. He was preceded in death by his father. Memorial contributions may be made in care of the funeral home to Kay Haynie.
HAYNIE Mary McCarthy Mary McCarthy, 15 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday (1-15-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a long illness. She was 92. Obituary information was incomplete.
McCARTHY Louise Muszik Louise Muszik, 93 Lakeview Drive, West Middlesex, died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday (1-15-03) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 83. Obituary information was incomplete.
MUSZIK William C. Perry Jr. Retired electrician served during missile crisis, war William C. Perry Jr., formerly of 205 Kennard Road, Salem Township, and a resident of St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, in St. Paul Homes. He was 61. Mr. Perry was born July 16, 1941, in Sandy Lake, a son of the late William C. Perry Sr. and Norma A. George Perry. Mr. Perry was of the Lutheran faith and a 1959 graduate of the former Wattsburg (Pa.) High School. He retired as an electrician from Byler Construction Co. and was previously employed for 20 years by the former Meadowbrook Dairy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a nuclear weapons specialist during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam conflict. Mr. Perry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed bowling and was a member of several bowling associations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kitch Perry, whom he married Jan. 27, 1964. She died Aug. 17, 1991. He is survived by: a daughter, Mrs. Douglas (Diane) White, Atlantic; two sons and their wives, William C. Perry III and his wife Cynthia, Hartstown; and Jeffrey L. Perry and his wife Jennifer, Orwell, Ohio. Also surviving are: two sisters, Mrs. William (Norma Jean) Wheeler, Sandy Lake; and Mrs. William (Carol) Bartel, Greenville; a brother, Robert E. Perry, Sandy Lake; and seven grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Scriven.
