Edwin William Englebaugh Westinghouse retiree, outdoorsman was WWII vet A funeral service will be Monday (1-27-03) for Edwin William Englebaugh, 2910 Morefield Road, Hermitage. He passed away peacefully at 12:05 p.m. Thursday (1-23-03) in Jameson Care Center, New Castle, after an extended illness. He was 76. Mr. Englebaugh was born June 11, 1926 in Sharon, the son of Louis Christian and Julia Kristine Christensen Englebaugh. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Englebaugh was an alumnus of Sharon High School who he attended Youngstown State University; and Pennsylvania State University, State College. He was a decorated war veteran, having served during World War II with the United States Navy. He received the Victory Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. Mr. Englebaugh was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage. A tool and die specialist, he worked from 1943 to 1982 in many capacities for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He retired as a supervisor from the former transformer plant, leaving him with ample time to pursue his greatest joy, which was hunting and fishing. Mr. Englebaugh was above all an outdoorsman and he especially enjoyed archery hunting and fishing off the shores of Lake Erie. He belonged to Hidden Valley Sportmen's Club, Shenango Township. A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Hermitage Lodge 810 and Scottish Rite New Castle Consistory. He was a devoted father and grandfather who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His wife, the former Janet L. Nichols, whom he married May 26, 1951, passed away Jan. 31, 1998. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Peggy J. Peterson and her husband, David A. Peterson, New Wilmington; two sons, Robert A. Englebaugh and his wife, Debi, Hermitage; and Bruce E. Englebaugh and his fiancée, Linda B. Lipson, of the Chestnut Hill area of Philadelphia; and one brother, Louis Englebaugh and his wife, Jeanne, Palm Coast, Fla. He is survived by four grandchildren, Marc Peterson and his wife, Jemi; Jodi Peterson and Taylor and Morgan Englebaugh. His parents and his wife preceded him in death. ENGLEBAUGH Rosemary M. Askerneese Hayes Ex-clerk at hospital worked for outreach programs Funeral service will be Tuesday (1-28-03) for Rosemary M. Askerneese Hayes, 941 Sharon-New Castle Road, Farrell. She passed away at 7:05 a.m. Thursday (1-23-03) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 66. Mrs. Hayes was born July 16, 1936, in Harlem, N.Y., to Willie C. and Fay E. Green Stultz. The Farrell High School alumna was formerly a clerk of administration at what was then Sharon General Hospital and a librarian in New York City. Involved in outreach programs, she was a worker at Prince of Peace and the Ark House, both in Farrell, through the Green Thumb Program. The former member of Greater Morris Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Farrell, was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hayes was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of New Murray Bell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7597, Farrell, where she was senior vice president. She also was a member of Mercer County Coordinating Council Chapter of Frontiers International and of the Naomi Chapter 22 Order of the Eastern Star in New York. Her husband, William B. Hayes, whom she married in 1979, preceded her in death Aug. 3, 1990. She was a member of a five-generation family. Surviving are: a daughter, Angela Askerneese, Sharon; a son, Paul L. Askerneese Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, Warren, Ohio; her mother, in Clepper Nursing Home, Sharon; one stepsister, Karen Bracey, Hartford, Conn.; two grandchildren, Natasha L. Askerneese, Masury; and Eugenia C. Grannison, Sharon; and two great-grandchildren, Lewendo L. Teague, Sharon; and Porché L. Mosley, Sharon; her faithful friend, Janet Grear, Sharon; and several cousins, in-laws and friends. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by her father; one sister, LaPearl Fay Askerneese; and two grandsons.
HAYES
Jack R. Fischer Former New Wilmington man retired from WE Jack R. Fischer, 264 Greenwood Drive, Hermitage, formerly of New Wilmington, died at 1:55 a.m. Friday (1-24-03) in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. He was 95. Mr. Fischer was born Nov. 8, 1907, in New Castle, to William G. and Rachel Davis Fischer. The New Castle High School alumnus retired from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He attended Neshannock Presbyterian Church, New Wilmington. His wife, the former Nina Pilgrim, whom he married July 12, 1947, died in 1968. Surviving are: two nieces, Yvonne Stewart, Pulaski; and Madeleine Fordney, Sun City Center, Fla.; and four great-nephews and three great-nieces. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Virginia Fordney; a niece, Patricia Fordney Gibson; and a nephew, Ted Fordney.
FISCHER Timothy Everette Timothy Everette, 330 Shenango Blvd., Farrell, died Wednesday (1-22-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 33. Obituary information was incomplete.
EVERETTE Janet L. Ostheimer Hubbard woman was secretary at plants Janet L. Ostheimer, 348 Myron St., Hubbard, passed away in her residence on Tuesday (1-21-03) after a brief illness. She was 81. Mrs. Ostheimer was born March 5, 1921, in Sharon, a daughter of Clyde M. and Clara A. Burwig Hoagland. She lived in the area most of her life. She was a 1939 graduate of Sharon High School and attended the former Shenango Valley Commercial Institute of Sharon. Mrs. Ostheimer was a secretary for General American Transportation Corp.'s former Masury plant; and later for the former Carnegie-Illinois Steel Co., Farrell. She was a member of Delta Chapter of Gradale Sorority and Daughters of the American Revolution. Her husband, Richard Ostheimer, whom she married Oct. 10, 1942, passed away March 30, 1998. She leaves four sons, Richard Ostheimer II and his wife, Carol, Youngstown; James C. Ostheimer and his, wife Linda, Richmond, Va.; Jeffrey Alan Ostheimer, Hubbard; and Mark Ostheimer and his wife, Paula, Sharon; a daughter, Deborah Kay Nees and her husband, David, Basye, Va.; and 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family requests contributions to Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice Home Care, 490 N. Kerrwood Drive, Suite 204, Hermitage 16148.
