Valeria (Bohach) David
Shenango woman enjoyed gardening, loved family

A funeral Mass will be Tuesday (1-28-03) for Valeria (Bohach) David, 11 Buckwalter Road, Shenango Township, who passed away peacefully at 8:20 p.m. Saturday (1-25-03) in the Skilled Care Unit of Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 72.

Mrs. David was born on July 16, 1930, in Farrell, the daughter of John Bohach Jr. and Helen Podlucky Bohach.

She attended Farrell and Wheatland schools.

Mrs. David was formerly employed by the Ideal Bakery in Farrell, J.C. Penny department store and the former Carriage Shop, both Hermitage.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, and she belonged to their ladies Quilting Club.

She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed gardening flowers.

Her husband, Robert L. David, whom she married Feb. 18, 1950, passed away on Feb. 10, 2002.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert J. David and his wife Marsha, Hermitage; and Gary A. David, West Middlesex; one son-in-law, Robert P. Rubano, Farrell; six sisters, Louise Dunder, Theresa Kettering, Rosemarie Moder and her husband William, all of Hermitage; Margaret Pelles and Jo Ann Leckfor, both of Brookfield; Veronica Banjak and her husband Ronald, Hubbard. She also leaves two brothers, John R. Bohach III and his wife Jean, Wheatland; and Paul R. Bohach and his wife Beverly, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Megan David and Robert M. Rubano.

She is survived also by her 10 nieces and 12 nephews, including her godchildren William Moder III, Hermitage, and Deborah Foster, Indiana.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her daughter, Renee Rubano, who passed away on Feb. 2, 2002; an infant grandson, Trevor John David; and two sisters, Anna M. Sirochman and infant Kathryn Bohach.

Homemaker worked

at WE, loved outdoors

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday (1-29-03) for Frances M. Hackett, 2220 Hubbard-Masury Road, Hubbard, who passed away at 4 p.m. Saturday (1-25-03) at her residence after a brief illness. She was 76.

She was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Sharon to Earl and Bernice Bishop McCann.

A 1947 alumna of Sharon High School, Frances was employed for four years at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Corp.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Masury and a former member of St. Patrick's Church in Hubbard. Frances loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking and gardening. Her greatest joy however was her family.

Surviving is her beloved husband of 54 years, Oliver Perry Hackett, whom she married Sept. 4, 1948 in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. A devoted mother she also leaves four sons, William Hackett and his wife Cynthia, Livermore, Calif.; Donald Hackett and his Wanda, Rio-Linda, Calif.; Edward Hackett, San Antonio, Texas; and Daniel Hackett, Akron, Ohio; and two grandchildren, George and Sarah Hackett, both of Livermore, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl McCann.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice Home Care, Canterbury Square, 490 N. Kerrwood Drive, Suite 204, Hermitage, 16148.

Mercer retiree was

Methodist, sports fan

A funeral service will be held Tuesday (1-28-03) for Lois G. Dolby-Sauers, 160 S. Otter St., Mercer, who died at noon Saturday (1-25-03) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville.

She was born April 1, 1916, in Conneaut Lake, Crawford County, to Alva Ralya and Dessa Mae Brown.

She was a retired member of the cleaning staff at the former Mercer County Home and Hospital, had worked at the West Elementary School cafeteria and had also been employed as a waitress at the former Humes Hotel in Mercer.

She was a member of Mercer United Methodist Church.

She was a Steelers and Pirates fan and loved knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane Kennell and her husband Jim, Mercer; two sons, Kenneth L. Dolby and his wife Connie, Menomonee, Wis.; and George "Frank" Dolby and his wife Sandra, Farrell; five grandchildren, Diane Harris, Debbie Gott, Tony and Chris Dolby and Dawn Kennell; and two great grandchildren, Kaylee Gott and Alyssa Dolby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Darrell L. Ralya; two sisters, Mary Grace Redmond and Geraldine L. Hancock; and one grandson, Charles Kenneth Dolby.

Justine A. Haller

Masury school custodian was auxiliary member

Justine A. Haller, 563 Brookfield Ave., Masury, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday (1-21-03) at O'Brien's Memorial Nursing Home, Masury. She was 92.

Mrs. Haller was born in Pittsburgh on July 21, 1910, a daughter of Anton and Karolina (Miller) Vogel.

She was a custodian for the Brookfield School system, retiring after 22 years of service.

Her memberships included the American Legion Auxiliary Post 700, Howland, Ohio, and the Brookfield Fire Department Auxiliary.

Her husband, Arthur F. Haller, whom she married Feb. 5, 1927, died Feb. 5, 1992.

Survivors include, one son, Carl Haller, Wellington, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Pantall, Punta Gorda, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Keith Thomas; four brothers and four sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
