R. Clifford Reese '57 Sharon grad, Army vet worked for commonwealth R. Clifford Reese, 1430 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, passed away unexpectedly at 7:54 a.m. Friday (1-31-03) in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after suffering an apparent heart attack at his residence. He was 63. Mr. Reese was born Sept. 19, 1939, in Sharon, a son of Philip and Margaret Egan Reese. He was a 1957 alumnus of Sharon High School and he graduated from Gannon University in Erie with a bachelor's degree in English. He was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a counselor in the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for Western Pennsylvania from 1969 to 1985. Prior to his vocational rehabilitation position, he worked for the welfare department. Mr. Reese was of the Catholic faith. He served with the United States Army from 1961 to 1965. He was assigned an intelligence position while in active duty and was honorably discharged with two medals, a marksmanship medal in sharp shooting and a good conduct medal. He was a member of Sharon American Legion Post 299. Mr. Reese was a loving husband and father and his greatest love was his family and friends. His wife, the former Chriss M. Moscovitis, whom he married Jan. 25, 1967, survives at home. He also leaves his daughter, Mrs. William (Kelly) Beichner of the Imperial area of Pittsburgh; and one son, Clifford S. "Kip" Reese and his fiance Renee Arnold, San Diego. Clifford is also survived by a sister, Mrs. John (Katherine) "Kit" Guhl, Eagan, Minn.; and two stepgrandchildren, Chelsea and Nicole Beichner. His parents and one brother, Philip Reese, preceded him in death.
REESE Fay E. Stultz Former Farrell homemaker was presser, housekeeper A memorial service will be Tuesday for Fay E. Stultz, Clepper Convalescent Home Inc., 959 E. State St., Sharon, formerly of Lincoln Avenue, Farrell. She passed away at 8 p.m. Wednesday (1-29-03) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 82. Mrs. Stultz was born May 10, 1920, in Leesville, S.C., to Henry and Allie Sims Green. She was a homemaker and formerly worked in the garment and design district in New York City. Mrs. Stultz was a clothes presser in Sharon and a housekeeper at the former Reinsel Funeral Home and Family, Sharon. She was a member of Greater Morris Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Farrell, where she served as a stewardess. Her husband, Willie C. Stultz, preceded her in death June 6, 1983. Surviving are: a stepdaughter, Karen Bracey, Hartford, Conn.; a granddaughter, Angela Askerneese, Sharon; a grandson, Paul L. Askerneese Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, Warren, Ohio; two great-granddaughters, Natasha L. Askerneese, Masury; and Eugenia C. Grannison, Sharon; two great-grandchildren, Lewendo L. Teague, Sharon; and Porché L. Mosley, Sharon; her close friend, Barbara Chavers, Sharon; and several nieces, nephews, cousins; and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary M. Hayes, on Jan. 23, 2003; her parents; five sisters, Edna Riggs Selder, Lucille Bowen, Edith Brown, Mary Alice Green and Gertrude Cumberbatch; three brothers, James Mason Green, John Henry Green and Broagus Green; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.
STULTZ
Valerie J. Beeman Ex-Sharon woman worked for rescue mission, police YOUNGSTOWN -- Valerie J. Beeman, Youngstown, formerly of Sharon, died Friday (1-31-03) in Forum Health Care, Youngstown. She was 62. She was born July 31, 1940, in Sharon, a daughter of William and the late Dorothy Kinney Bancroft. She was a member of Gibson Heights Church, Youngstown, and was employed at the rescue mission as a newsletter editor. She also was employed for 11 years as a clerk for the Youngstown Police Department. Surviving are: her father, in Sharon; a son, Eric and Jennifer Cromwell, Poland, Ohio; a daughter, Melanie Nelson, Struthers, Ohio; two brothers, David Bancroft, Baltimore; and Timothy Bancroft, Wellsville, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Eric Cromwell Jr. and Suzie Nelson. Her mother preceded her in death.

Dorothy M. Poltor Brookfield homemaker was '43 Sharon High grad Dorothy M. Poltor, 1028 N. Albright McKay Road, Brookfield, died at 10:45 a.m. Friday (1-31-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 77. Mrs. Poltor was born June 6, 1925, in Sharon, a daughter of Leon C. and Mary McCullough Jones. She was a 1943 graduate of Sharon High School. Mrs. Poltor was a homemaker. Her husband, Joseph Poltor, whom she married March 7, 1944, died July 14, 1982. Survivors include: two daughters, Patricia and Brian Hackett, Brookfield; and Pamela and William Dickey, Brookfield; two sisters, Mildred Wilson, Hermitage; and Phyllis Bestwick, Athens, Ga.; and one brother, Robert F. Jones, Sharon. She also is survived by one daughter-in-law, Judy Poltor; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joseph Poltor; one sister, Marjorie Murcko; and two brothers, Charles and Trevor Jones. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.

Jean Warner Baker Retired SRU prof, church organist was music teacher Jean Warner Baker, 331 Center St., Slippery Rock, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday (1-30-03) in United Community Hospital, Pine Township, after a brief illness. She was 80. Mrs. Baker was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Pittsburgh to Dr. Elton Street and Anna Mildred Williams Warner. Jean graduated from Wilkinsburg High School. She received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1942. She received her master of music education from the Duquesne School of Music. She was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Slippery Rock, where she served as church organist for 52 years. She also served as choir director for many years. She was a professor emeritus of music at Slippery Rock University. She retired in 1983. In addition to teaching piano at the university, she served as accompanist for Slippery Rock University Choir, Chamber Singers and Symphonic Choir. She performed with the orchestra for university musical productions. She established the Noteworthy Piano Studio in Slippery Rock and taught private piano lessons. She was a member of Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties, Pennsylvania Federation of Music Educators, The Tuesday Musical Club of Pittsburgh, Slippery Rock American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Shamrock Wednesday Morning Ladies Golf League. Her husband, Dwight B. Baker, whom she married June 20, 1944, died March 16, 1990. Surviving are: a daughter, Nancy Jeane Christie and her husband, Mark, Slippery Rock; a son, David Elton Baker and his wife, Cheri, Grove City; a brother, Dr. Robert E. Warner, Pittsburgh; and three grandsons, Nathan Dwight Baker Smith, Slippery Rock; Lance Cpl. Michael Christopher Baker, Camp LeJeune, N.C.; and Joshua Robert Baker, Grove City. BAKER Lois 'Sis' Rosalie Brantley Youngstown woman was native of Sharpsville Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in L.E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Lois "Sis" Rosalie Brantley, 67, of Youngstown, who passed away Thursday (1-30-03) in Forum Health Northside Medical Center, Youngstown. Mrs. Brantley was born April 23, 1935, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Charles and Ophelia Moyer Austin, and came to Youngstown in 1954. Before coming to Youngstown, she was a member of Second Baptist Church in Sharpsville. She was a former member of the Centenary Methodist Church, its choir and kitchen committee. She loved traveling and cooking. She had worked as a caterer with Bennett's Catering Service. She was also a member of the NAACP and the YMCA "Coeds." Her husband, Ernest "Bunny" Brantley, whom she married in February 1957, preceded her in death May 15, 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory six brothers, John (Joann) Austin and Kenneth Austin, all Sharon; Raymond (Peggy) Austin and James "Freddie" (Paula) Austin, all Sharpsville; Chester (Olivia), Farrell; and Maceo Austin, New Castle; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including her niece and goddaughter, Kristin Boone, who made her home with Lois. She also leaves a godson, Thad Austin; and three sisters-in-law, Della Austin, Youngstown; Joann Collins, California; and "Sis" Austin, Sharon. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Stanley, Roland and George "Bucky" Austin; a sister, Charlotte Boone; and grandparents Tom and Nellie Moyer.
BRANTLEY Aldene M. Garrett Homemaker belonged to West Middlesex U.M. Aldene M. Garrett, St. Paul Homes, 339 E. Jamestown Road, West Salem Township, formerly of 310 North St., West Middlesex, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday (1-30-03) in the nursing home. She was 90. Mrs. Garrett was born June 23, 1912, in West Middlesex to Charles W. "Chad" and Alda L. Clarke Hawk. The homemaker was a member of West Middlesex United Methodist Church and its choir. She also was a member of Rebekah Lodge of West Middlesex and Order of the Eastern Star Farrell Chapter 156. Her husband, Russell Livingston Garrett, whom she married Oct. 25, 1932, died Nov. 23, 1989. Surviving are: two sons, Charles Garrett and his wife, Shirley, Greenville; and Louis Garrett and his wife, Joan, West Middlesex; six grandchildren, Troy Garrett, Amy Harmon, Cindy Blaschak, Cheri Difford, Chris Garrett and Charlene Campbell; and 11 great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son. GARRETT
Theodore R. Moran Sr. Greenville church member was college English prof Theodore R. Moran Sr., St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, formerly of 7 Meadowlane, Hempfield Township, died at 8 a.m. Friday (1-31-03) in the nursing home. He was 97. Mr. Moran was born July 7, 1905, in Monroe County, Ga., to Henry and Viola Hart Moran. He was a 1926 graduate of Zarephath (N.J.) Academy and a 1931 graduate of Alma White College, with a bachelor of science degree; who in 1939 earned his master's degree in education from Rutgers University. Mr. Moran taught English at Union College in Cranford, N.J., from 1938 to 1955. From 1955 to his retirement in 1971, he taught English literature of Emerson and Thoreau at Waynesburg (Pa.) College. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville, and enjoyed reading. His wife, the former Blanche Frazer, whom he married Dec. 24, 1938, in Bradys Bend, Pa., died Aug. 5, 1980. Surviving are: one son, Dr. Theodore R. Moran, Greenville; and one grandson, Matthew T. Moran, Yakatat, Alaska. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Henry, Clarence, Norman, Roger and Hart Moran.
