WE retiree, Christ Lutheran member was Mason, Saxon

Rudolph A. "Rudy" Krafft, 774 McClure Ave., Sharon, died at 11:14 p.m. Monday (2-3-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. He was 75.

Mr. Krafft was born June 19, 1927, in Sharon to Andrew Rudolph and Rosina Diller Krafft.

Rudy graduated in 1945 from Sharon High School. He worked for Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 40 years as a maintenance supervisor. He retired in 1983.

He was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon, where he was involved as a volunteer for the food pantry and Meals on Wheels. He also was a former choir member.

He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Hermitage Lodge 810. Rudy also was a member of Scottish Rite New Castle Consistory; and Farrell Saxon Club, where he was an officer and belonged to the Saxon Retiree's Club.

He formerly bowled with Westinghouse Bowling League. He enjoyed traveling, playing euchre and attending his grandchildren's activities.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Betty Jane Steiner, whom he married May 5, 1951, at home; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Dick Scully, New Brighton, N.Y.; and Nancy and her husband, Gary Finzel, Sharon; a son, Dr. Rudolph and his wife, Tammi Krafft, of Cortland; a brother, Ed and his wife, Esther Krafft, Moon Township, Allegheny County; and eight grandchildren, Leslie, Daniel, Ali and Michael Krafft; Rick and Kate Scully and Andy and Jamie Finzel.

His parents preceded him in death.

Cebenna Newby

Urban League clinical

Funeral service will be Friday for Cebenna Newby, 1060 Baldwin Ave., Sharon. She peacefully departed this earthly life at 5:40 a.m. Sunday (2-2-03) in Western Pennsylvania Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 43.

Mrs. Newby was born Dec. 16, 1959, in Pittsburgh, Miss., to Eva and Sam Moore.

Cebenna Newby graduated from what was Shenango Valley School of Business in 1987 with an associate degree in medical and information processing. Following graduation, she enrolled at Sharon Regional Health System School of Nursing, where she obtained a degree and became a registered nurse.

She was employed at Shenango Valley Urban League as clinical manager.

She was a member of Greater Mount Zion Church of God in Christ, Farrell, under the leadership of Superintendent Wilbert G. Hadden.

She leaves to mourn a devoted husband, Robert N. Newby, whom she married Oct. 8, 1995.

Surviving are: one son, Mark A. Campbell and his fiance, Debra Mason, Indiana, Pa.; three daughters, Martina M. Campbell, Sharon; and Mercedes N. and Melanie L., at home; one sister, Rebecca Boatwright, Farrell; seven brothers, Freddie Moore, Gary, Ind.; Robert and Roger Pendleton, Chicago; Darry, Danny and Michael Moore, all Sharon; and Charles Moore, Farrell.

She also leaves her mother- and father-in-law, Johnnie and Harvey Newby, Sharon; three sisters-in-law, Joan Lester and JoAnn (Frank) Campbell, both Sharon; and Pamela (Darrell) McKoy, Farrell; one brother-in-law, Harvey Newby, Sharon; two grandsons, Naiim and Sulaiman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends at the Shenango Valley Urban League.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Shirley Pendleton.

Mrs. Newby had a kind spirit that touched many. She was a devoted wife and mother who will be sadly missed.

Patrick A. Reardon

Mercer man was Army veteran, talented athlete
Patrick Andrew Reardon, a resident of 317 E. Market St., Mercer, since 1996, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday (2-2-03) at his home after an extended illness. He was 56.

Mr. Reardon was born Oct. 5, 1946, in Pittsburgh, to Edward Patrick Reardon and Mary Ellen Keeling.

He married Jean Evans Reardon on March 24, 1979.

Mr. Reardon was a retired sales representative from the Reynolds Tobacco Youngstown office. His family attends Mercer Free Methodist Church.

An Army veteran, Mr. Reardon graduated from Bethany College. He was a talented athlete during high school and college, playing baseball and football.

Surviving are his wife; two children, Casey and Cory J. "C.J." Reardon, at home; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Melissa and their son Jack, near Columbus, Ohio; and a sister, Mary Judy Reardon of Indianapolis, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Herbert J. Walter
Army vet, Shenango Inc. retiree worked for Goodwill

Herbert J. Walter, 3472 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday (2-4-03) in his residence after an extended illness. He was 71.

Mr. Walter was born Jan. 27, 1932, in Reno, Venango County, to Clifford and Mary Walter.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Korea Engineer Combat Unit.

Mr. Walter retired from the former Shenango Inc., Sharpsville, where he was a craneman for 30 years.

He also worked for Goodwill Industries as an apartment maintenance manager.

Mr. Walter was a member of Shenango Valley Church of God, Hermitage; Loyal Order of the Moose Farrell Lodge 55; and Wheatland American Legion Post 432. He was an avid hunter.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Althea Bowser Keck, whom he married March 6, 1993; 10 children, Rosemary Lozier and her husband, Bruce, Sharpsville; Lawave Urbanek and her husband, Tony, Oklahoma; Diana Weir and her husband, David, California; Carolyn Canon and her husband, John, Sandy Lake; Helene Roberts, West Middlesex; David Beich and his wife, Peg, Blairsville, Pa.; Mary Howard and her husband, Wayne, Oklahoma; Randal John Walter, Ohio; Donald "Carl" Keck III and his wife, Amanda, Clark; and Clifton Keck and his wife, Lenora, Mercer; 29 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ralph Walter, Mercer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first two wives, Phyllis and Violet; and one brother.

WWII vet, WE retiree

Ernest Anderson, 830 Butler Pike, Mercer, died at 5:40 p.m. Monday (2-3-03) in Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, Butler County, after an extended illness. He was 76.

Mr. Anderson was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Treveskya, Pa., to John Edward and Emily Henshall Anderson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II.

Mr. Anderson retired from Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. as a machinist.

He was a member of Fellowship Community Church, Mercer; and Free and Accepted Masons Hebron Lodge 575, Coolspring Township.

Surviving are: four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Marlene) Knapp, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Terry (Sheree) Coy, Richmond, Va.; Mrs. Ken (Dianne) Jentsch, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Mrs. Mark (Janice) Wallace, Detroit; two sons, Gary Anderson, Pittsburgh; and Kenneth Anderson and his wife, Mindy, Nashville, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and half sister, Eileen Alba.

V. Marion Lewis

East Main member taught high school, college math

V. Marion Lewis, 28 Manor Drive, Village Park, Pine Township, formerly of West Washington Boulevard, Grove City, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday (2-3-03) in his home. He was 94.

Mr. Lewis was born April 6, 1908, in Francis, Erie County, to John Martin and Ruth Noyes Lewis.

A graduate of Academy High School, Erie, class of 1925, he graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville with bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees, class of 1928; and University of Illinois in Urbana with a master of education degree.

Mr. Lewis did graduate work at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, the University of Colorado, the University of Pittsburgh, Oberlin College and Tulane University.

He retired in 1985 from Grove City College after 19 years of teaching. Previously, he taught at Cambridge Springs High School; West Springfield High School; Summit Township High School; and Erie Academy High School, where he taught for 29 years; and Gannon College and East Los Angeles College. He was a mathematics teacher for a total of 57 years. Also, during his employment in the high school system, he coached basketball and football.

He was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church, Grove City, where he was in the Fidelis and P&A Sunday School Class; Free and Accepted Masons Perry Keystone Lodge 392, Theta Chi Fraternity; Kappa Phi Kappa; Pennsylvania State Education Association; and Mercer County School Retirees.

He was an avid golfer and a dedicated math teacher.

Surviving are: his wife, the former Vivian Carey Lewis, whom he married April 10, 1941; two daughters, Linda Lewis Jaslow and her husband, Jeffrey Jaslow, West Redding, Conn.; and Natalie Lewis Simon and her husband, William D. Simon, Mercer; seven grandchildren, Kristin Canning, Los Angeles; Amy Canning, Boston; Cedric Simon, Daytona Beach, Fla.; Julia Simon, Elon, N.C.; and Aaron Simon, Meredith Simon and Nicholas Simon, all Mercer; one niece, Natalie Collins Brown, Erie; and one nephew, James L. Lewis, Easton, Md.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Donna Collins; and one brother, Meredith Lewis.

Robert Padenich

'74 Hickory grad of Sharon was auto body specialist

Robert Padenich, 1810 N. Water Ave., Sharon, passed away unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at 4:57 a.m. Tuesday (2-4-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 46.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Padenich was born July 7, 1956, in Sharon, a son of Michael and Teresa Mihlo Padenich.

He graduated from Hickory High School, Hermitage, in the spring of 1974.

Bob was a classic car enthusiast and he worked as a self-employed auto body specialist. He reconditioned and refurbished classic cars, especially late-model Chevelles.

Previously, he was employed as the body shop manager for the former Sarvas Ford in Sharon.

He is survived by his mother, with whom he lived; and two brothers, Gary Padenich and his wife, Judy, Sharpsville; and Ron Padenich, Sharon.

Bob also leaves his three nephews, Michael, Christopher and Todd Padenich; one niece, Amy Hanley; and one great-niece, Katie Hanley.

Joyce M. Mullen

Sharon homemaker worked in school cafeteria

Joyce M. Mullen, 405 Prindle St., Sharon, died at 10:35 p.m. Monday (2-3-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 45.

Mrs. Mullen was born Aug. 19, 1957, in Meadville to Clarence R. and Doris M. Williams Gordon.

She was a 1976 graduate of Fort LeBeouf High School, Waterford.

Most recently, she was employed at Sharon City Schools in the cafeteria.

She was a homemaker and mother to her children. She enjoyed spending time with her family and liked to read. She was of the Protestant faith.

She married Mark E. Mullen on June 7, 1985. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kelly D. Mullen, at home; three sons, Scott E. Gordon and his wife, Sabrina, Slippery Rock; Timothy M. "Tim" Mullen and Richard A. "Ricky" Mullen, both at home; four sisters, Mrs. Harold (Zella) Glover, North East; Mrs. Samuel (Betty) Lucas, Conneautville; Mrs. Steven (Diana) Higbee, Sandy Lake; and Mrs. Ronald (Gail) Angelotti, Cambridge Springs; three brothers, the Rev. James R. Gordon and his wife, Reba, Streamwood, Ill.; Joseph C. Gordon and his wife, Mary Ann, Broadheadsville, Pa.; and Thomas F. Gordon and his wife, Sue, New Wilmington; and two grandsons, Aarron Gordon and Brandon Gordon, both Slippery Rock.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Margaret 'Bee' Coppinger

Sharon native had lived in Girard, was active in church

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Margaret "Bee" Coppinger, Austintown, formerly of Girard, Ohio, died Saturday (2-1-03) in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown. She was 86.

Mrs. Coppinger was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ellen Tharby Goodall.

Bee worked as a manager of Rodney Ann's Candy Store in downtown Girard for more than 15 years. Prior to her work with Rodney Anne's, she was employed by JCPenney.

A devoted wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, Bee was a member of First Christian Church, Girard, Ohio, where she served as a teacher and superintendent of Sunday school.

She was also a member of the church's Nifty Fifty Club and a former member of the Girard Lady's Bowling League.

She enjoyed sewing, needlework and crafts and won blue ribbons at the Ohio State Fair for her crocheted bedspread and cross-stitched tablecloths.

An avid card player, Bee delighted in the fellowship shared with card clubs both here and in Cincinnati, where she and her husband resided for 11 years.

Her husband, Walter W. Coppinger, whom she married June 5, 1939, died Sept. 12, 1989.

Bee will be sadly missed by all those who shared in her life, but especially by her two sons, Dr. Walter Coppinger and his wife, Roberta, San Antonio; and Gene Coppinger; her daughter, Patricia Shively and her husband, David, Lordstown, Ohio; and her four grandchildren, Denise Thompson and her husband, John, Orlando, Fla.; Justine Maebius and her husband, Brian, Spokane, Wash.; Daniel Coppinger, Tacoma, Wash.; and Julie Thompson and her husband, John, Petersburg, Ohio. She also leaves five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ryan, Sean and Christian Thompson, Petersburg; and Seth Thompson, Orlando; a brother-in-law, Ray Coppinger; three sisters-in-law, Anna Laskaris, Mary Osborn and Bernie Goodall; and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests material contributions take the form of donations to the Antonine Sisters Adult Day Care Center, 2691 N. Lipkey Road, North Jackson, Ohio 44451; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Helen Olshavsky Sisko, 81, a homemaker, passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in her home.

Mrs. Sisko was born Oct. 16, 1921, in what is now Clark, to Michael and Maria Semanko Olshavsky. She came to Brevard County, Fla., in 1993 from Miami.

She was a member of Ascension Catholic Church and the Women's Guild in Melbourne.

Mrs. Sisko is survived by her daughters, Yvonne Smolenyak, Jupiter, Fla.; and Yvette Cason, Melbourne; eight grandchildren, Faith, Sarah, Amy, Timothy Jr., Danielle, Joshua, Nicole and Hannah; a sister, Katherine Varsho; and a brother, Joseph Olshavsky.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
