Leona K. Parker
Greenville St. Michael's member worked for Bell

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday for Leona K. Parker, St. Paul Homes, West Salem Township, formerly of 20 Clarksville St., Greenville. She died at 10:08 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 98.

Mrs. Parker was born March 14, 1904, in Pardoe to Claude Brown and Catherine Shaffer Brown.

She was an operator for 21 years for Bell Telephone Co.

Mrs. Parker was a member of St. Michael's Church in Greenville. She enjoyed shopping and watching television.

Her husband, Jay Parker, whom she married July 16, 1934, died Nov. 4, 1993.

Surviving are: a niece, Mary Albert Symbala, New Castle; and a nephew, John James Ruffing, Greenville.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Claude D. Brown Jr. and John J. Brown; and three sisters, Frances Ruffing, Ida Albert and an infant, Mary Brown.

FRANKFURT, Germany -- David L. Hughes, 22 Maizur St., Weiterstadt, Germany, formerly of Farrell, died at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 28, 2003, in Rotes Kreuc Krankenhaus, Frankfort. He was 64.

Phyllis 'Phil' M. Taneri

Ohio homemaker

was native of Farrell

WARREN, Ohio -- Phyllis "Phil" M. Taneri, 2877 Montgomery NW, Warren, Ohio, formerly of Farrell, died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday (3-4-03) in Imperial Skilled Care Center. She was 80.

Mrs. Taneri was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Farrell, to Frank Mindicino and Mary Grande Mindicino.

A 1940 graduate of Farrell High School, she moved to Warren in 1957.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius X Church, Warren.

Mrs. Taneri enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, cooking and baking, especially decorating cakes for special affairs.

She had been a volunteer for Mobile Meals in Warren for 15 years.

Her husband, Robert "Bob" J. Taneri, whom she married Sept. 4, 1954, survives at the residence.

Also surviving are: one daughter, Mrs. Barry (Roberta "Bobbi") Fisher, Warren; two grandchildren, Rebecca and Gina Fisher; and one sister, Rosemary Daugherty, Hermitage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles, Henry and Anthony Mindicino; and one sister, Angeline Testa.

Louis A. Taub

Store maintenance boss was woodworker, scout leader

Louis A. Taub, 2555 Rombold Road, Hermitage, died at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a 1è-year battle with leukemia. He was 65.

Mr. Taub was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Farrell to Martin Taub and Helen Caputo Taub.

He was a maintenance supervisor for 32 years for the former Sharon Store, later Strouss department store, in downtown Sharon.

Mr. Taub was of the Catholic faith.

He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, camping, cross-country skiing, biking and sail boating. He was a member of Allegheny Canoe Club and Greenville Outing Club.

From 1976 to 1989, Mr. Taub was a scout master for Troop 5, at Hickory United Methodist Church in Hermitage.

He was self-employed in woodworking, making wood crafts.

His wife, the former Anna Mae Ference, whom he married June 14, 1958, survives at home.

Also surviving are: one daughter, Lynnette, wife of Robert Ferguson, Sharon; and their children, Amanda Ferguson and Douglas Ferguson; one son, Louis M. Taub, at home; a sister, Hilda "Tootsie" Obermiyer, Brookfield; and two brothers, George Taub, Sharon; and Martin Taub Jr., Brookfield.

Mr. Taub was preceded in death by his parents.
