David R. Erimias '63 Sharpsville grad, grid star worked in Pittsburgh PITTSBURGH -- David R. Erimias of 134 Abbeyville Road, Pittsburgh 15228, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. He was 58. Mr. Erimias was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Sharon, a son of Frank G. and Helen E. Perhacs Erimias, who live on Pryde Avenue in Sharpsville. As a 1963 alumnus of Sharpsville High School, he was a solid all-around athlete, particularly in football, in which he earned a full football scholarship to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. After receiving a bachelor's degree, he was employed by Computerland of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Jugoslav Club of Bethel Park; and American Carpatho-Russian Citizens and Social Club of Sharon. During his high school years, he lettered three years in football, two in basketball and one in golf for the Blue Devils. Playing offensive and defensive tackle, he helped his football team to an 8-1 record in his senior year in 1962-63, when Sharpsville won the Mercer County Class A championship. He was named to the Mercer County All-Stars, Most Valuable Lineman in District 10, and honorable mention All-State. For his athletic accomplishments, Dave was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame in 2000. He played semi-pro football for a season with the San Jose (Calif.) Apaches. Also in San Jose, he was athletic director of the Pop Warner league and served as a football and baseball coach for area leagues. He loved watching sports and spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. His wife, the former Carol Ann D'Amico of Farrell, whom he married July 31, 1969, survives at home. David was the father of Cassandra Wiley, Bethel Park; and David C. Erimias, Wexford; the grandfather of Danielle and Jacob Wiley; and Nicholas and Macy Erimias; and the brother of Frank J. Erimias, Pittsburgh; Alan J. Erimias, Sharpsville; and John A. Erimias, Hermitage.
ERIMIAS Noel Wayne Westinghouse retiree served in Army in WWII Noel Wayne of Whispering Oaks, 260 S. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, died of natural causes at 5:58 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 86. He was the widower of Helen Simon Wayne, who died Oct. 5, 2001. Born Friday, Oct. 27, 1916, in Sharon, Mr. Wayne was a son of the late William and Sadie Feldman Wayne. He had worked as a coil winder in the I-40 Building at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., retiring in 1976. He had also worked at the former Nathan Brothers Sales in Farrell. Mr. Wayne attended Sharon schools and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. He was of the Jewish faith. Noel was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who was loved by his family and many others. He is survived by: three daughters, Marcia, wife of Richard Keryan, Hermitage; Marilyn, wife of Michael Bozzo, Naples, Fla.; and Julaine, wife of Charles McNally, Sharon; two grandsons, Michael Bozzo Jr., husband of Lisa Bozzo; and Dr. Brian Bozza, husband of Cindy Bozza; four granddaughters, Kim Bozzo, wife of Michael Tucker; Amy Keryan, wife of Peter Daigle; Kelley McNally, wife of Dr. David Kytchak; and Colleen McNally, wife of David Miller; and 12 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Wayne Nussbaum. The family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Louis A. Taub Maintenance foreman was woodworker, scout leader Louis A. Taub, 2555 Rombold Road, Hermitage, died at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a 1è-year battle with leukemia. He was 65. Mr. Taub was born Oct. 26, 1937, in Farrell to Martin Taub and Helen Caputo Taub. He was in maintenance at the Sharon Store, later the Strouss store of Youngstown, where he got transferred. He later became maintenance supervisor of the Strouss store in the Youngstown area. Mr. Taub was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, camping, cross-country skiing, biking and sail boating. He was a member of Allegheny Canoe Club and Greenville Outing Club. From 1976 to 1989, Mr. Taub was a scout master for Troop 5, at Hickory United Methodist Church in Hermitage. He was self-employed in woodworking, making wood crafts. His wife, the former Anna Mae Ference, whom he married June 14, 1958, survives at home. Also surviving are: one daughter, Lynnette, wife of Robert Ferguson, Sharon; and their children, Amanda Ferguson and Douglas Ferguson; one son, Louis M. Taub, at home; a sister, Hilda "Tootsie" Obermiyer, Brookfield; and two brothers, George Taub, Sharon; and Martin Taub Jr., Brookfield. Mr. Taub was preceded in death by his parents. Mrs. Merle H. Edeburn Orangeville church, club member retired as teacher FOWLER -- Merle H. Edeburn, 7511 Hayes Orangeville Road, Burghill, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home. She was 98. Mrs. Edeburn was born Dec. 20, 1904, in Burghill to Nahum Holcomb and Blanche McMurray Holcomb. A 1922 alumna of the former Hartford High School, she graduated in 1925 from what was Kent (Ohio) Normal School. Mrs. Edeburn retired in 1969 as an elementary school teacher, having taught in Hartford, Vernon and Bazetta school districts. She was a member of Orangeville United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. She also belonged to Ohio Retired Teachers Association and Orangeville Literary Club. Mrs. Edeburn enjoyed gardening and doing outside work. Her husband, LeRoy "Red" Edeburn, whom she married July 6, 1931, died April 21, 1989. Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Eileen) Baxter, Burghill; and Carol Edeburn, Egypt; two sons, Raymond Edeburn, Ashtabula, Ohio; and Gary Edeburn, Clear Lake, Calif.; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. EDEBURN Mae Pancioni St. Bart's member owned dairy store in Sharpsville Mae Pancioni, 52 S. Mercer Ave., Sharpsville, died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Clepper Manor, Sharon. She was 92. Mrs. Pancioni was born Nov. 8, 1910, in Castro Dei Volci, Italy, to Joseph Pagliaroli and Rosaria Bonaquest Pagliaroli. She retired as owner of Sandy's Dairy Store in Sharpsville. As a member of St. Bartholomew's Church in Sharpsville, Mrs. Pancioni belonged to the St. Oliva Society. She also belonged to American Business Women's Association, Sharon Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Sharpsville Fireman's Auxiliary. Her husband, Sante Pancioni, died Oct. 21, 1960. Surviving are: one daughter, Marie Taylor, Rocklin, Calif.; two grandchildren, Robert Taylor and his wife Lori; and Jason Taylor and his wife Heather, all California; two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Bobby Taylor; and one sister, Lucy Deal, Sharpsville. Besides her husband, Mrs. Pancioni was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Anna Bonaquist; and one brother, Vincent Pagliaroli.

HUGHES Patricia Ann Niddel Viglio Wheatland woman worked in Austintown Patricia Ann Niddel Viglio of 82 Chestnut St., Wheatland, died unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday evening (3-4-03) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 39. Mrs. Viglio was born Oct. 6, 1963, in Youngstown, a daughter of John and JoAnn Marie Higgins Antal. She was a 1981 graduate of Austintown (Ohio) High School and had been employed at Tamco Warehouse in Austintown for 17 years. Mrs. Viglio is survived by: her husband, Ronald D. Viglio, whom she married July 20, 2002, at home; a daughter, Lauren J. Niddel; a son, Randy J. Niddel; and two stepsons, Patrick B. Viglio and Nathaniel Viglio, all at home; her father, John Antal and his wife Joann, Hubbard; a brother, John Thomas Antal, Canfield, Ohio; and a sister, Debbie Hallis and her husband Ron, Lake Milton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joann Higgins Antal; a sister, Colleen Antal, who died in 1978; and a brother, Donald Antal, who died in 1960. VIGLIO Caroline L. Shuttleworth W. Middlesex homemaker belonged to St. Joseph's Caroline L. Shuttleworth, 23 Dogwood Lane, West Middlesex, affectionately known as "Gram," passed away at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. She was 85. Caroline was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Wheatland, a daughter of Frank Rupnik and Mary Leskovec Rupnik. A lifelong area resident, Caroline attended the former St. Ann's Parochial Grade School and Farrell High School. Prior to her marriage and during World War II, she was employed at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. She later worked at what is now UPMC Horizon, Farrell, for 10 years. Also a homemaker, Caroline was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Sharon and a former member of St. Ann's Church in Farrell. She was known as a very kind and caring individual. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and crafts. Her husband, Roy H. Shuttleworth, whom she married Nov. 25, 1948, in St. Ann's Church in Farrell, passed away June 20, 1980. Surviving are: two daughters, Carole S. Giroski, wife of Robert M. Giroski, with whom she lived; and Cristine Kissinger, Imperial Beach, Calif.; a son, Keith F. Shuttleworth, and his wife Ginny, San Diego; and a sister, Angeline Murcko, Sharon. A loving and devoted grandmother, she also leaves two grandsons, Dennis E. Rhoades Jr. and his wife Jodi L., Elkton, Ohio; and Jesse J. Kissinger and his wife Rochelle, White House, Tenn.; a stepgranddaughter, Michele Campbell, and her husband Gary, Chapel Hill, Tenn; two great-grandchildren, Luke and Rory; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Zach, Levi and Emily; and many nieces and nephews who will miss their Aunt Caroline dearly. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank, Henry and William Rupnik; and a sister, Mary A. Yonchak.
