The following obituary is being reprinted to include additional information given to The Herald; and list a corrected year of marriage, incorrectly listed by The Herald. '63 Sharpsville grad, grid star worked in Pittsburgh PITTSBURGH -- David R. Erimias of 134 Abbeyville Road, Pittsburgh 15228, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. He was 58. Mr. Erimias was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Sharon, a son of Frank G. and Helen E. Perhacs Erimias, who live on Pryde Avenue in Sharpsville. As a 1963 alumnus of Sharpsville High School, he was a solid all-around athlete, particularly in football, in which he earned a full football scholarship to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. After receiving a bachelor's degree, he was employed by Computerland of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Jugoslav Club of Bethel Park; and American Carpatho-Russian Citizens and Social Club of Sharon. During his high school years, he lettered three years in football, two in basketball and one in golf for the Blue Devils. Playing offensive and defensive tackle, he helped his football team to an 8-1 record in his senior year in 1962-63, when Sharpsville won the Mercer County Class A championship. He was named to the Mercer County All-Stars, Most Valuable Lineman in District 10, and honorable mention All-State. For his athletic accomplishments, Dave was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame in 2000. He played semi-pro football for a season with the San Jose (Calif.) Apaches. Also in San Jose, he was athletic director of the Pop Warner league and served as a football and baseball coach for area leagues. He loved watching sports and spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye. His wife, the former Carol Ann D'Amico of Farrell, whom he married July 31, 1965, survives at home. David was the father of Cassandra Wiley, Bethel Park; and David C. Erimias, Wexford; the grandfather of Danielle and Jacob Wiley; and Nicholas and Macy Erimias; and the brother of Frank J. Erimias, his twin, Pittsburgh; Alan J. Erimias, Sharpsville; and John A. Erimias, Hermitage.
ERIMIAS Stella M. Baker Greenville woman worked at Davis Drug Store Stella M. Baker, 10 N. Third St., Greenville, died at 9 a.m. Friday (3-7-03) in the emergency room of UPMC Horizon, Greenville. She was 70. Mrs. Baker was born July 31, 1932, in Hickory Township to Roy J. Hoovler and Theresa Myers Hoovler. A 1950 graduate of Fredonia-Delaware High School in Fredonia, she was employed for more than 15 years by the former Davis Drug Store in Greenville, where she worked as a sales clerk and floor manager. Mrs. Baker was previously a bookkeeper for 26 years at the former Reagle Hardware, also Greenville. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and a volunteer at the Good Shepherd Center, both in Greenville. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and crafts. Her husband, James B. Baker, whom she married on Sept. 3, 1955, died Sept. 4, 1992. Surviving are: four sons, James E. Baker, Andrew J. Baker and Christopher T. Baker, all Greenville; and Jeffrey A. Baker, New Enterprise, Pa.; five sisters, Lida Bartel, Jennie Shacklock, Mrs. John (Margaret) Forney, Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Wasser and Veronica Nagy, all of Greenville; two brothers, Harry B. Hoovler, Bellwood, Ill.; and James J. Hoovler, Greenville; and nine grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Josephine O'Leary and Rosemary Holzaphel. BAKER Sante N. Cataldi Sharpsville man worked for Sharon Steel Sante N. Cataldi, of 27 High St., Sharpsville, died of natural causes at 5:20 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after a brief illness. He was 83. He was the husband of Lillian E. Brockway Cataldi, whom he married on Oct. 11, 1958. She survives at home. Born on Friday, Feb. 20, 1920, in Castro Deivolci, Rome, Italy, Mr. Cataldi was a son of the late Nicola and Antonia Perfili Cataldi. He had worked as a shipper expediter in the Pickling Department of the former Sharon Steel Corp.'s Farrell plant for 32 years. Sante was a graduate of Sharpsville High School and then went on to earn a degree in psychology from Youngstown State University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, having earned the Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal and the American Defense Ribbon. Mr. Cataldi was a member of American Legion Post 162; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6404, both Sharpsville. He enjoyed reading Western novels, woodworking and spending time with his family. He was of the Catholic faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: three daughters, Sandra, wife of Timothy Swogger, Sharon; Maria Downs, Sharpsville; and Kathleen, wife of Jack Rainey, Sharon; four stepsons, Louis, husband of Toni Fey, Vienna; James, husband of Bonnie Fey, Florida; Charles Fey, Tennessee; and Lawrence Fey, Erie; a stepdaughter, Mildred, wife of Gary Holder, Mercer; a sister, Olivia Baron, Hermitage; a brother, James Cataldi, Sharpsville; three granddaughters, Stacie Swogger, Katie Swogger and Elizabeth Downs; a grandson, Nicholas Rainey; along with several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Cataldi was preceded in death by two brothers, Dominick and Angelo Cataldi.
CATALDI Catherine Phillips Evans Catherine Phillips Evans, Masury, formerly of 3640 Mount Hickory Blvd., Hermitage, died at 2:25 p.m. Friday (3-7-03) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 89. Obituary information was incomplete.

HUGHES Barbara Ann Williamson Nichelson Grove City woman drove for Wal-Mart, liked to paint Barbara Ann Williamson Nichelson, 513 Superior St., Grove City, died at 2:11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2003, in UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, after a one-year illness. She was 59. Barbara was born July 23, 1943, in Grove City to Robert P. Williamson and Mary Jane Piper Williamson. An alumna of Grove City High School Class of 1963, she retired in 1988 from Wal-Mart Corp., where she was a truck driver. Barbara was of the Presbyterian faith. She enjoyed painting and crafts. Surviving are: two children, Pamela J. Snider, wife of Michael R. Snider, Harmonsburg, Pa.; and Ross J. Nichelson Jr., Grove City; one sister, Wanda Mays, wife of David Mays, Newville, Pa.; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
NICHELSON Elizabeth Lucille Ryhal Homemaker loved sewing, played the violin Elizabeth Lucille Ryhal, Hempfield Township, formerly of 103 Maple Ave., Greenville, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday (3-6-03) in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. She was 99. Mrs. Ryhal was born Dec. 29, 1903, in Greenville, to Lester D. and Margaret Quillman Connor. In her high school years, she worked at the former Bell's Dry Good Store in Greenville. She was a homemaker for most of her life and since 1915, was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greenville. She was a former member of Thiel Women's Club, Greenville. She loved sewing and playing the violin. Her husband, Clyde Samuel Ryhal, whom she married on Nov. 27, 1923, died on Nov. 4, 1978. Surviving are a son, Robert E. Ryhal, Greenville; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 73 Clinton St., Greenville 16125.
