The following obituary is being reprinted from Monday to include a survivor whose name was not given to The Herald.

Arthur D. Brown Jr.
Farrell native worked

for National Castings

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Arthur D. Brown Jr., 1336 Church, Virginia Beach, formerly of Farrell, died Friday, March 7, 2003, in his residence. He was 51.

Mr. Brown was born Aug. 31, 1951, in Farrell to Arthur D. Brown Sr. and Margaret Hooks Brown.

An alumnus of Farrell High School, he was employed for 17 years in the U.S. Navy, for which he was an aviation store clerk. Mr. Brown served in the Navy during Operation Desert Storm and in the conflict with Afghanistan aboard the USS George Washington and the USS Theodore Roosevelt, achieving a rank of AK II.

He also worked for the former National Castings Division of Midland-Ross Corp., Sharon.

Mr. Brown was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Farrell.

His wife, the former Glenda Smith, whom he married Feb. 8, 2003, survives at the residence.

Surviving are: two stepsons, Jacob Smith and Pierre Smith, both Virginia Beach; two daughters, both of whom he reared, Marlena Dowdy, Meadville; and Tang Dowdy, Georgia; a stepdaughter, Tewanda Smith, Virginia Beach; his parents, Farrell; four brothers, Daniel M. Brown and John R. Brown, both Farrell; Roger D. Brown, Japan; and James E. Brown, Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Gloria Moss, Hermitage; and Judy A. Drumn, Sharon; and three grandchildren, Deonta Watson, Tia McGowan and Remont Messenburg. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as a favorite aunt, Johnny Lee of Farrell. He was preceded in death by a great-niece, Jasmine Norris.

    Burial: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage. Military rites will be provided by the U.S. Navy.


George R. English

George R. English, Masury, formerly of Sharpsville, died at 3 p.m. Monday (3-10-03) in O'Brien Memorial Nursing Home, Masury. He was 77.

Don Morocco
Born in Italy, businessman was musician, band leader

Don Morocco, 449 Cedar Ave., Sharon, passed away at 11 p.m. Sunday (3-9-03) in the skilled care unit of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 93.

Mr. Morocco was born July 29, 1909, in Cosenza, Italy, a son of Diomede and Michelina Critelli Morocco.

He emigrated to the United States in 1912 and settled in Farrell, where he was a 1927 alumnus of Farrell High School.

His first job was with Ideal Bakery on Broadway Avenue in Farrell. He later worked for other local bakeries.

However, music was his chosen field. Mr. Morocco was an accomplished musician and played four instruments, the violin, mandolin, guitar and saxophone. He formed his own 10-piece band in the early 1930s which was very popular with the public and drew large crowds wherever he played.

During the second world war, he worked as a welder for Taylor Winfield and Warren City Manufacturing Co., both Warren, Ohio. He was also employed for a short period at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. For the next 30 years, he was a businessman, having owned Dairyland and Pastryland, both on Idaho Street in Farrell; and Leslie Dairy on Leslie Street in Sharon.

Don was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a charter member of the Wolves organization, both Farrell.

Surviving are: one daughter, Faith Gianoglio and her husband Kenneth J. Gianoglio; and one son, Russell Morocco, all Hermitage; one brother, Anthony "Scrip" Morocco and his wife Rosemary, West Middlesex; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Olivia Ann Morocco, who was 15 years old at the time of her death; and three sisters, Victoria Ciatola, Nora Reda and Mary Arcade.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Billie E. Ondic

Longtime former Sharon woman was avid reader

Billie E. Ondic, 374 Grant St., Hermitage, and a former lifetime resident of Sharon, died of natural causes at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 75.

Mrs. Ondic was born March 20, 1927, in Sharon to Wilda Mae Van Dyke Vanage.

She graduated from Sharon High School in 1945 and was a lifelong member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon.

Billie attended art class at the Salvation Army. She was an avid reader, having read two or three books weekly. When she wasn't reading, she enjoyed drawing and appreciated all forms of art.

Billie had a gentle soul and loved animals.

Her husband of 55 years, Michael Phillip Ondic, whom she married Dec. 31, 1947, survives at home.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Laurie Ann Ondic, Sharon; a son, Michael Richard Ondic and his wife Gale Ondic, Crown, Pa.; two sisters, Romelle Phillips, Wheatland; and Korine Krichko, Hermitage; a brother, Greg McIntire, Laurence, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Alane and her husband Steven Jewel; Patrick Michael Ondic and Brenda Ondic.

Billie was preceded in death by her mother; her grandmother, Laurie Bell Van Dyke; an aunt, Helen Rogers; and a brother, Robert McIntire.

Mary Lovaglio White
Homemaker belonged

to Beloved Disciple

Mary Lovaglio White, Pine Township, formerly of 620 Princeton Ave., Grove City, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2003, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township. She was 93.

Mrs. White was born Feb. 4, 1910, in Ridgway, Pa., to Daniel and Angelina Fatubeno.

A homemaker, she was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple, Grove City, and its Rosary Altar Society.

Mrs. White also belonged to Daughters of the Sons of Italy.

Her first husband, Ambrose Lovaglio, whom she married in 1926, died in 1950. Her second husband, Dominic White, whom she married Sept. 1, 1951, died Jan. 15, 1991.

Surviving are: four children, Sam Lovaglio, husband of Chieko, Japan; Donald Lovaglio, husband of Sherry, Mercer; Emily Benko, wife of Edward, Butler; and Richard White, husband of Carol, Cambridge Springs; two sisters, Nardina Ellias, wife of James, Dubois, Pa.; and Pauline Salvetto, wife of James, Ridgway; one brother, John Fatubeno, Saint Marys, Pa.; and 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Besides her first and second husbands, Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Joanne Sansotta and Lena Alessio; two sons, Donald and Joseph White; two granddaughters, Tammy and Lucia Lovaglio; a sister, Cecilia Jacobs; and a brother, Harold Fatubeno.
