Genevieve 'Gen' Haywood Hubbard retiree enjoyed Las Vegas, her sheepdog Genevieve "Gen" Haywood of Hubbard died Saturday morning, March 15, 2003, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. She was 82. Mrs. Haywood was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Czechoslovakia to Felix Swarney and Frances Karlik Swarney. She came to this country as an infant and moved to Hubbard in 1954. Mrs. Haywood worked for Federal Wholesale Company in Hubbard for 22 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Hubbard and enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and with her Shetland Sheepdog, Missy (Misbehaving) Haywood. Her husband, Albert "Ted" Haywood, whom she married on April 10, 1948, died April 9, 1992. She leaves: two sons, Kenneth A. Haywood, North Canton, Ohio; and James E. Haywood Sr. and his wife Tiffin, Salem, Ohio; a brother, Rudy Svarny, Sharon; a sister, Mildred Ward, Brookfield; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, her parents; three infant sons; two brothers, William and Joseph Svarny; and a sister, Frances Kovack preceded her in death.
Elizabeth 'Betty' U. Kaibas Obituary was published 3-16-03 Among survivors are three sisters-in-law, Shirley Zimmerman and Ann Nagy, both Farrell; and Helen Zimmerman, Cortland, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Additional information was given to the funeral director.
Mary Folwell Miller Nurse served in two wars, had nephew, nieces here BALTIMORE -- Mary Folwell Miller of Oak Crest Village, Parkville, Md., passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 82. Mrs. Miller was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Clarion County, a daughter of Ralph and Edna Thompson Folwell. She served her country during World War II and the Korean conflict, achieving the rank of major in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps. Mrs. Miller is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Miller; her parents; two brothers, Wesley and David; and a sister, Florence. She is survived by: nephews William Folwell, Las Vegas; James Folwell, Pittsburgh; Patric Folwell, Henderson, Nev.; and Robert Folwell, Fredonia; and nieces Ellen Folwell, Pittsburgh; Kathleen "Kay" Folwell Wilson, Austintown, Ohio; Laurel Walters, Transfer; and Tammy Sue Folwell, Sharon. She also leaves nine great-nieces and -nephews. Tributes may be sent to Oak Crest Village Scholars Fund, 8800 Walther Blvd., Parkville, Md. 21234.
MILLER Sharon homemaker was Bell Telephone operator Helen N. Stewart, 454 Lafayette Ave., Sharon, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Sunday (3-16-03) in John XXIII Home, Hermitage. She was 86. Mrs. Stewart was born Aug. 29, 1916, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Daniel J. Friedrich and Anna Walsh Friedrich. Helen moved to Sharon with her family in the early 1920s and attended the former Sacred Heart parochial grade school, Sharon. She was a 1934 alumna of Sharon High School. Prior to her marriage, Helen was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. in downtown Sharon. A homemaker, she was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. Helen enjoyed reading, flower gardening, crocheting and traveling. Her husband, Harold R. Stewart, whom she married on June 29, 1939, in Church of the Sacred Heart, survives at home. Also surviving are: one daughter, Susanne M. Stewart, Vienna, Ohio; three sons, Denis R. Stewart and his wife Linda, Fowler, Ohio; Terence M. Stewart, Brookfield; and Timothy B. Stewart, Vienna; two sisters, Rosemary Colt and Mrs. John (Nancy) Sankovich, Sharon; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin sisters, Anna Marie Friedrich and Margaret Clara Friedrich; and eight brothers, Robert, Edward, Daniel II, Charles, William, Kevin, Raymond and John Friedrich.
